Even if SARS was established to deal with cybercrimes, you don't investigate cybercrime with guns, routine searches, or scrolling through another man's phone to get intel, you investigate cybercrime the cyber way. You have to make use of your computer, you have to know their modes of operations/behaviors by making use of the computer, you can't know their mode of operations without knowing the computer. We have a whole bunch of illiterates being recruited in the armed forces of Nigeria who know nothing about criminology. The armed force has a long way to go🤦‍♀️

I'm from cameroon and just trying to understand what has been happening so apparently sars is a special unit of the police department that has been established to deal with crimes associated with armed robbery and kidnapping but now they're the ones abusing human rights and targeting youth. will suggest that the Nigerain Police should be reformed in the sense that the minimum requirements of our police should be at least an OND holder and the selection process should be on merit only and not paddy paddy or man no man then the brutality will stop. Because if Sars is ended then crime will be on the rise again and we will be back to square one, the Sars should be back in the barracks and only be called out on an emergency response only. And for the Police their selection process should be strictly on merit only and not paddy paddy or man no man. Furthermore, the minimum requirement should be at least and OND holder to join the force and their salary be one of the highest in the country then the brutality and extortion will stop

The only way there can be sanity in the nigerian police force is to adopt a strategy used by some advanced countries..this is actually noy expensive to enforce.simply,all men of force must have a digital recording camera on their uniforms ,at the end of each day,the sd card can be appraised by the various unit head.The mere psychological awareness they are on camera will guide their actions as well as documented evidence of each operation.This should be a daily office routine.Also for patrol units,there should be a signature police flashing lights on their uniforms.this is how developed countries maintain sanity.The difference between men of force and ordinary citizens is accountability ,when this is lacking,both can equally be criminals.For reference,this is employed by china andnusa police forces.
