That was a good play from you, like they say here in the after interview the Crits not all of them mattered but that was super lucky, not the battle just seeing 6 Crits in a battle lol 4 on your side 2 on theirs also I'm building an arboliva to troll my friends with now cause that strength sap and all the other healing is dirty and I love it.

Yeah, you guys got some rough luck on this one. I don't think the crits turned things around in Joey's favor, since his team for this match was very well tailored to deal with yours, but they definitely made the situation a lot worse. Well played regardless.
They honestly hosed Ben out of the match. Crits matter a lot more when you're invested in bulk, dying to one less hit when you're a setup mon is a big deal
@@some_hippiesthe only crit that matter is against swampert and even then even if Joey got low roll it will take 86 percents of metagross HP, Joey can just switch to ace and kill it with pyro ball. Crit on garchomp didn't matter as again arboliva can just tank it or Joey switch to swampert. Crit on ceruledge also didn't matter it still got 3 OHKO without crits and can't do anything other than die slowly to arboliva. Crit on gastrier? Joey got endure custap diance and Scizor to deal with it.
gotta say, I really enjoy this take on draft. having commentators gives a whole different perspective and allows the battler to focus on battling instead of thinking out loud is a cool concept. excited to watch the rest of the season with this killer team!
Yea I've been watching Shady as hes the only one I am subbed to who is in this league but he has been over thinking his 2 matches so far and he's getting his butt whooped because of it. I think he would do so much better if he wasn't giving live updates.
@@boogityhoo7452 i think its just an overthinking situation, i think a lot of the plays that all the battlers have made have had a good amount of thought put into it. im in my own draft league, where ive literally noticed that a lot of battlers (including myself) have had the over analyzing problem but they still make it work. its why i enjoy watching draft tbh, has a real human element in everything
The current standings: 2 kills for glastrier (Jirachi, blastoise) 1 kill for amoonguss (Ursaluna) 1 kill for garchomp (Talonflame recoil) 3 kills for valiant (Enamorus, Meowscarada, H-Qwillfish) Bonus stat: There are now only 5 pokemon with perfect attendance throughout being metagross, valiant, garchomp, glastrier and surprisingly cyclizar. A very sad day for play more fans worldwide but we trust in the beneral to get back up and fight his way to a possible rematch.

No shame in getting completely rolled by Joey, he really is one of the best singles players of all time, but wow that was one sided. Would have been hype to see you actually rematch him, John.
Man...that was rough Even before going in Joey already had the intimidation factor being the champion of the previous season, showing up with the worse case scenario team and huges crits on top of it, it must have been soul crushing, hats off to the Beneral for keep fighting the good fight against this literal titan of an opponent. Also John saying the good thing about this crushed defeat is that he couldn't figure out your true strategy, seeing Joey's coment on the video, i think he knows your strategy
This is one thing I like about draft, for the same reason I enjoy nuzlockes, the most surprising pokemon can be so amazing. I don't think there's any shame in being destroyed by one of the top players ever

I only got into competitive battling in Gen 8 and don't really follow it much at all, but I would never miss a Play More battle for anything! Love what you do, keep up the great work!
For my own sake of mind I had to run the calcs of those first four crits lol 😂 Metagross being so defensive (impish and EVd 252 hp 128 def) means you took 86.2 - 102.1% even from an adamant, 252 atk, choice band earthquake form Swampert, so would've needed a very high roll to KO. On top of disguising that it was choiced and the psychological factor of it all. Arboliva's earth power crit on their specially defensive Ceruledge turned a 3HKO into a 2HKO (EP no crit = 41.3 - 49.2% vs. EP crit = 62.3 - 73.6%) which ofc is a massive deal as well, forcing the switch out sooner than intended and negating set up opportunities for it etc. Not sure the crit giga drain on Glastrier would've mattered but with Arboliva being such a tank and getting its crit when being at its lowest so far (around 55-60% hp ish?) is ofc dream crushing too lol. But hey, the crit on Garchomp which would've been the biggest deal if it mattered, did not matter as it was a physically defensive chomp and a non crit EP was doing 26.4 - 31.2% with it being at 26%. So at there's at least that haha ^^ All that said Joey played really well, but he also did get very lucky with a couple BIG crits on Ceruledge and Metagross in particular.
Crit on ceruledge wouldn't matter, it got hard wall and what set up? Strength sap would make the bulk up worthless. The only real crit that matter is on metagross and it still get walled by arboliva or revenge kill by cinderace

Meant for later set up potential obviously, as it was one of their win cons still if they could've dealt with Arboliva otherwise. Not taking anything away from Joey bro, he's a brilliant player and prepped very well as always, but you can't say those crits didn't matter. That's my only point here mate, because they did - whether directly or indirectly. You can always theorize how things would've gone if they hadn't happened and say well even if x then y and z. But there's human factor, there's an element of predictability and risk, etc, etc, etc. You don't know how it would've played out without the crits.
@@tomashogberg8514 Joey and Ben already discussed it and they agreed that the only crit that matter is in metagross. And Ben also said that Joey team just too hard to break even without the crit and will still lose anyway. Ben don't have any answers to the arboliva.
Losing metagross was really bad for the arboliva specifically, too many crits get it. There wasnt too much you could do in that point. Defently the preparation of the team wasnt the greatest, against that specific team (considering was actually a bad match up too), vaporeon was probably the better switch into this match up if you bring it. Magnet rise as a move wasnt a great solution against ground moves unfortunally because of the lead make it much harder. Also there arent any switch against earthquake and that alone hurt the team too much. You played very well despite the crits situation, you did your best. How was Vaporeon a better switch? It does like 60% with scald and then gets gigs drained and Arb gets all the health back. Plus you can't even guarantee that the Arb was going to be fire tera, it could have been fairy. Between strength sap and the physical bulk I think the real killer here was the lack of special attackers that got brought this week. Arb could strength sap up on just about everything on the playmore squad and because Val was a physical set this week and not a special set, it couldn't 1v1 Arb after tera particularly well. Between that and having no EQ or earth power switch ins for Pert/Arb I think the real winning move was probably to bring Jugulis. Gives you immunities that let you play around Pert (which might force more mistakes you can win off of with Edge or Glas) and also gives you a special attacker capable of breaking Arb.
@@Spark31Gaming i agree with you as i said is big problem was, he didnt have any good switch on ground moves. Generally water type is the best type to switch against kinda anything combined with steel and dragon. Jugulis is indeed a good one too, better than vaporeon for sure in this instance because of the immunity, on the other hand vaporeon isnt only a decent bulky mon but it could be also a fine special attacker too on top having immunity on water moves with his ability, surprise your opponent could matter at the end if you're not expecting what it could have. His swampert is what kinda decide the game at the end. I agree with you man. EDIT: Still the Ben played very well and i enjoy the match 👍

I feel like Joey Wheeler got his luck hitting hard this match cause those critical hits did a huge number on the team & felt like a bad matchup. Beneral may have to pay close attention on both Joey & his rival Uzi to be better prepared for his rematches.

Aside from the metagross crit (metagross actually had a chance to die regardless the crit though), the crits weren't really game changing. Glastrier is not gonna 1v1 arboliva anyways. And the garchomp was gonna die to the swampert if it didn't get critted by arboliva.

Spoiler warning ⚠️ I feel like when glastier was facing arboliva at the end, if iron defense was used a few times from the first time it came out instead of avalanche, the body press might have hurt even more. A crit might kill I would like to believe 😢 Cause the one time iron defense to body press almost hit half of arboliva's health 🤔 Either way, you guys did very very well, stay strong coach Ben!!!
Arboliva wouldn't have taken a turn to strength sap if Glastrier had opened with Iron Defense. It still wouldn't have had enough turns to get Body Press's damage high enough.

Tbh, if things would have perfectly, if the crits weren't there, I still think 10 times out of 10 you would have never won that. Tera fire arboliva is just too strong.
We knew Joey would show up and prove why he's one of the best of all-time, if not the best. And he did. But the rampant critical hits were just absolutely unnecessary. This was a mugging.
