This is my tribute to the genius of John Hughes in the 80's. Not only was he the king of the teenage angst movie, but had other comedic hits like Vacation, Plants, Trains, & Automobiles, and of course Home Alone. This is set to the first lady of the 80's Pat Benatar's "We Belong".

For those of us that remember, the eighties may have been the last generation to be truly connected by what was available to us on TV, Films, and in particular Music. There wasn’t the choice then that we have today, we watched, we listened, and we shared it all together, we laughed, and we cried together. There is of course greater access to everything now, but we collectively shared those experiences together in the 1980s, which is why we’re all still so connected. Today’s kids are tuned in and tuned out… if only we could turn back time!
@gen-x-dad

you laughed harder when you were in a theatre surrounded by people laughing, you cried harder when you mom was beside you in the family room crying to a melodrama mini-series, we gathered around the lockers on Monday to talk about Friday's Miami Vice and to see who was wearing that look including no socks, we swapped albums so we could record off each other's and make mix tapes. We even had to sit n the same room to play 2 player Atari games. We shared it together.

No the last gen to not be normal are the people who are now in their 40s. Gen Z are dangerous 😮 Only a few are rejecting the systems teachings. We all grew up in a more normal innocent time. Thr reason why mostly everyone over 40 is normal is because we werent brought up by social media and narcissism as a way to aspire to be 😂.

I remember the Cineplex, the disco, the dance clubs, the malls, the group of friends with whom I hung out. I remember going to Chi-chis Restaurant where our friends were waiters for free meals on Saturday nights (of course we paid his tip in cash)... the prom and all the preparations. Big hair and neon clothes. Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It seems like yesterday but was a different world.

Some day we'll look each other up and think about our childhoods. We'll miss those who passed away 😢. Now we are in contact again. They told me... your words were so true.

He made teenage boys feel like we had a fighting chance in both life and love. His movies are a huge part of my childhood and growing up. He like so many of the 80s are forever gone and never forgotten. I wish every day it was still the 80s. Having a world that was able to start being themselves without alot of judgement and people just seemed alot happier.

One of the best. It is terrible knowing what movies are like now, in 2023. Compared to the 80's and 90's, this generation of movies is horrible.

I just this July 5 saw Beverly Hills Cop , Axel F. 2024, It was a Awesome movie, seemed like the good Ole 80's movie, but 40 years later. Had many of the original characters in it, only 40 years later, this 2024 movie was done correct. Saw it on Netflix.

I'm nearly 62. Yeah, the 80's were good. When I hear that old music I can remember delivering pizzas to pay for college. No debt! I took my little sister to see Duran Duran. During the summers I delivered office supplies and remember listen to Raspberry Beret on a local Houston AM station in the company pickup truck. I think I'm gonna need a DeLorean, a flux capacitor, and 1.21 gigawatts to get outta this awful time!

Grew up in the 80s, graduated H.S. in '89, spent my late teens, early 20s in the military, was a "radical" and "knarly" time to be alive! Will never, ever be, a more wonderfully awesome decade!! Long live the 80s!!

Timeless movies. Doesn't matter if you were born in the 2000s. Doesn't matter if you've seen them for the first time when you were 30 or 40. It's universal stuff. The humor will always be funny, the emotions will always be raw.

Graduated High School (Australia) in 1984. John Hughes films were hugely important to the 80's Pop Culture vibe. I guess you had to be there to understand it. I still only listen to 80's music even today at 56 years old. I'd go back tomorrow if I could.

i left regular school in 83 here in Germany... the 80s didnt been that pink times, fear for WW3, Russians invaded Afghanistan, 750.000 Russian soldiers just 25km away from my place! we had a army of 600.000 man standing by! now, its under 200.000 with 20 million more citizens!

If given a chance to be young again and do it all over but starting today....there is not a chance I would take that deal. Teenagerhood in the 1980's was like a dream. Not easy, but wonderful. Moviemaking was flowering. Real acting and directing. The music. The way the world was. I'm ready.
