What I understand, he originally wrote this song for his father that left him when he was very young. Some of the lyrics were changed to sound more like a sad love song. The fact that he wrote this song for his father is so so sad! “I grew up not really having a father figure and it didn’t bother me because he wasn’t there in the first place. But then he started other families and I was jealous. It was like he was happy without our family. I didn’t want it to be to self-indulgent so listeners couldn’t grab their own personal experience from it. But I think it is one of the strongest songs because it made me have to take a bit of myself out and put on a record and I’ve never really done that before.” Labrinth

I lost my dad to ptsd related manic depression. This song really says alot of things i struggle to say. I hoped he would be happy. I hoped we would be enough. But we werent and i accept that. I hope he is happy where ever he is. I know he couldnt do life here anymore. I just hope he is at peace now.

First time I heard this song someone did this on America's got talent or a show like that. He sang with such passion. I had to look up the real singer. Never heard of Labrinth, but he did not disappoint . Love this song and love this man

Hey y'all great reaction. I dealt with a lady I loved and things got sour overtime. Not of my only doing per se, but! She broke it off after trying years of being together. But I did think she'd come back n tell me that she F'd up. She did. It was just too late. She was all kinds of abusive prior! But I forgave in the name of love. Whoever is reading this, you're sole purpose matters more. There isn't a darkness you aren't capable of climbing out of! Believe in yourself. Believe in God!
