thanks for the videos!. i dont understand this purity obsession, as i see it a car is a tool .... tools get modified to suit there use , where dose purity enter into it ? or another point of view its your property who but you has the right to say what it should look like unless there paying for it! you own a house do people complain about the purity of your front door color or window type or size or location or choice of roofing material? hell if i had a cooper rs with a blown 1.6 and a spare ls your looking at an ls powered cooper and anything negative someone has to say can swiftly be inserted into the appropriate oraface as far as i am concerned.

As a Sydneysider living in Europe now, the “Euro-handshake,” made me absolutely crack up, in stitches boys. Lol. By doing up a BMW, you’re going to get madloads more attention than you already have here, I hope your fanbase expands exponentially. Welcome to the e30 family! I own a 325is with 87k miles (I've had it since it had just 18k) that is mostly stock because it's in such good condition. I realize you guys already have plans for this car, but I hope you consider doing a stroker engine instead of k-swapping it or shoving an S50 in there or whatever other plans you have. When this car was new, Alpina tuned this car by taking the "eta" block from a 325e/525e and matching it to the head of the M20B25, giving 2.7L. Today Ireland Engineering and other companies make kits to do 2.9 or even 3.1L stroker engines by increasing the bore size and putting more aggressive cams/pistons in it. Not only would it be period-correct (a little more purity), but it would be a totally different kind of mod than I've seen on this channel before. I don't really know why you chose an e30 as a sleeper car, as I get so many head turns and thumbs up wherever I drive - this car is a real classic and iconic. An e36 may have been a better canvas for a heavily modded sleeper car, in my opinion, but glad to see some BMW love! Oh, and replace all the bushings!

When I started university in 2011 we had just finished off watching the last of that pimp my ride. My new housemate recommended we start watching this show "mighty car mods" that had just released a video on RU-vid. Fast forward 9 years and we both got out PhDs and started lecturing in Ulster University. He has a 2018 WRX. 405bhp etc etc. This week he passed away at 29 years of age. His funeral is in the morning. This notification reminded me of all the good times we had watching MCM together and trying to mod my Civic and my mx5 through the years. RIP foo25 (won't let me tag the channel). Thanks man for getting me into car and mods and thanks MCM.

In the majority of cases that isn't true. Perhaps it is in Australia? I wouldn't know. But in Europe the vast majority are running standard engines or are relatively lightly modified. I only know of a handful with turbo conversions or crazy engine swaps.

Im not sure about australia, they're probably similar, but in NZ you'll find the overwhelming majority of used cars, especially older cars, are JDM spec, even Euro and American cars. Other than NZ having no domestic vehicle industry and extremely lax vehicle import laws making importing easy, JDM cars are most common because we use the same vehicle layout. Right hand drive, and speedo in kilometers. Most Euro cars are left hand drive, except in the UK, but the UK uses MPH instead. Also we're closer to japan than Europe lol.

Ive just bought two E30s(both 318is) last year for $5000(in Melbourne). Plan was to scrap one to restore the other. It seems that the price went up for E30s this year. Now I think I will restore both, otherwise it will be such a waste.

Very excited to see you guys working on the E30! Just picked one up myself a few months ago that I've been working on and restoring... Granted I've been blessed to have had the previous owner swap an M62 V8 into it. Tight fit but definitely worth it and enjoying it. @@suprvrmedia6235 That's very true it's the only 3 series to never come with a inline 6. Even the M3 was only inline 4. Problem is the BMW line is known for their incredible inline 6 engines so that's what alot of people opt to put a M54B30 from an E46 or S54B32 from a E46 M3.

@@Asgard2693 The E30 came with a 2 and 2.5 straight 6... the m20 engine. One of the best sounding engines.. Lots of E30s have had more modern 24v BMW engines swapped in... M50 often boosted M52, S52 etc etc I have am M52 B28 swapped Touring which is going to have an S54 m3 motor upgrade soon!😊

As a BMW mechanic who was originally a Japanese car fan this is fantastic to watch. Pro tip on how to drain a BMW of coolant and knock at the coolant all over the floor. Drain the coolant and let it Pour all over the floor then mop floor. I have never found a way to do this without spilling coolant all over the floor I've tried vacuums I've tried pumps I've tried airguns everything there's always a little crevice or little hose or little something and as soon as you pop it open it's spilled more coolant. Looking forward to see what your next engine swap is going to be.

Mad props!! You guys are absolutely going to love that car. They are way easier to work on than most people think and they are a ton of fun to own and modify. Handling for the era is superb. Great choice and can't wait to watch the build progress.

Those days Italy had some laws that to buy e30 M3 was to expensive so BMW offer for Italy 320is ("Italian M3", 2.0, 16V, 192HP!)

If I remember correctly it's because all engines above 2,000cc were in a much more expensive tax bracket. Ferrari also sold a 2 liter V8 in the 70's.

Portugal also received the E30 320is, same engine as M3 but detuned

@@FOXeye95 that was the Italian and Portuguese version. While it was an S14, it had smaller displacement than the M3 (normally 2.3L) The 318is did not have a related engine despite sharing the "is" suffix.

Get an e46 steering rack. Close to bolt-on and much faster than e30 rack.

The later E46 racks are half a turn shorter than the earlier ones and therefore even more fun.

I'm giddy like a school girl, to see a beamer in the shop. I'm a tiny bit more of a Mercedes guy but no one can argue the awesomeness of an E30 3-series. Also guy just killing it with the music selection for work montages and voices overs. Love it. Watched this episode twice now and still awesome.

I have been waiting for you all to do one of these for a while now glad to see it happen! I just pulled my m20 b27 out of a 1986 325e yesterday in preparation for a v12 swap. but can’t wait to see what you guys have in store for it! E30s FTW HAPPY CHOPPING!

Super exited about this car: the e30 itself is a unlimited placeholder for tuning. The RH version is also a very nice opportunity for swap an VQ30DET without interference over steering shaft. But the original bmw m20 engine is also a nice powerplant, with or without turbo it'll give an impressive torque curve! This particular one is equipped with nice exhaust manifold!
