Didn’t even mention the high lined fenders! Also I could be wrong but I think the 16in Moab wheels came off Rubicon TJs and the JK ones were 17in. Anyway it looks like it’s going to be fun. Might as well build it big because we all know what’s gonna happen. Mommy is going to end up wanting the 4 door one day with the kiddos so you might as well do it up big over time for you!
Yeah those 16s are most likely from TJ/LJ Rubicon. My 05 LJ has those 16s. They do look very similar to JK 17s that I've seen. Also, the front bumper looks a lot like the bumper I bought from Hanson Enterprises for my TJ years ago. Currie started that design back in the late 90s(I think )
Love it! I too just bought an LJ for my wife to wheel. Mine's pretty much stock so I'll have a bit more work to get it trail ready. Keep up the good work.
LJ’s are AWESOME!!!! I own a completely stock 2005 LJ “Rubihara”. Love it and will not modiy it. LJ’s just look so cool by just being a bit longer and still a 2 door jeep. Perfect look for a jeep in my opinion. Congratulations on the LJ!!!
Nice find! Looking forward to seeing the mods! I just picked up a 2006 Wrangler LWB myself last weekend. Bone stock, 42k on the clock. Building it for overlanding. :)
The TJ/LJ factory Rubicon wheels are 16", If you don't wanna run adaptors to run the 17" Rubi JK wheels, Mamba makes (or made) a 17" version in the 5 on 4.5. Congrats on the purchase, like someone else mentioned and I was surprised you didn't mention the high clearance fenders, that's why the hood is cut at the detail line with stick on rubber door edge trim. Smittybilt makes a cool replacement high clearance tube flat fender for that platform that would look really nice since you already have so much black body armor already. Can't wait to see all the new mods!
took me a minute to see this as well. At first I thought it had been wrecked because of the paint difference but the trim gave it away that they were high fenders and the hood was cut.
Congrats on the new Jeep. It is not public yet but just added a black LJ to the stable here too. Mine is completely stock, so lots of work to do. Tell Cassie she absolutely should start her own channel.
I subscribed and she already has as many subscribers as I do! She will do great. I bet a lot of people would enjoy her view on things being in a Jeep family even if she is not the one wrenching. I just started adding RU-vid to my mix. I was all blog until recently. PS - NC here. We got lucky with the hurricane where I am. Family down at the beach got blasted.
Congrats on the LJ!! Those are definitely Highline fenders so you can mount those 35 and not rub. Something I didn’t know about my LJ when I first got it was the rear Dana 44 has a limited slip locker standard.
Hey there, nice jeep!! I just bought an 05 LJ Rubicon that’s bone stock with 126,000 miles. She’s clean as hell and rust free. Runs excellent and I love it like crazy! One strange thing that I don’t understand is, it has NO lift and yet got death wobble like crazy at 55 mph. Why in the hell would that happen?? Took it to the recommended place around here for jeep alignments and they actually installed 2 steering stabilizers. No more death wobble but Im not sure that’s really the way to do it, but it’s working for now. Looking forward to the LJ videos!!!
You should teach the wife to wrench! My GF and I wrench and wheel together. It's more fun! Always have someone to wheel with.. no lame excuses from my friends or others that can't make it last second. Congrats on the new build!
The rear bumper is a garvin wilderness. The older ones came with a screw in handle to hold the tire carrier closed. They lost the handle and made the bolt thing. I don't know if garvin still makes the handle but i can send you a pic of mine, easy to make. Garvin also has a conversion kit to change it over to their new latch style.
Just bought a 2004 LJ for $9250 164k miles. The only things that is not working is the fog lights. And has a pushed in debt that can be hammered out with a simple body work and repaint I will do down the line. I have my dream car and it’s so clean.
Some thoughts from a TJ owner. Awesome, my dream jeep is a red LJ. Good find. The wheels are factory TJ/LJ Rubi wheels if they are 16's. JKs were all 17s and needed spacers. Mine actually came 16.5s as a dealer package and were Mickey Thompson's. The tires were crazy expensive and I got 5 new tires and wheels in 15's for less than getting 4 16.5 tires. The rear tire carrier is most likely the A to Z fab DIY kit and comes with a T-bolt and nut to latch the swing, obviously, it did break and they just improvised without thinking through just as you said but I bet that is the same DIY swing kit I have waiting on me to be less lazy with the welder. I agree with the front, they should have relocated the TB, the rest looks awesome. Have you looked into Lizardskin? I kinda wish I had gone with that but such is life. Bartact seat covers and bedrug. will be getting bedrug for mine. Great looking LJ, looking forward to seeing this build.
Lots of good info here, thank you. And yes I am looking at a few options for either bedrug or some type of paint liner for the interior! Can’t wait to build this!
@@JKGearandGadgets they are by far my fav of the newer jeeps.97 to current And they look so nice on huge tires and a LCOG lift. Which you have a great starter platform for it with the fenders and cut hood. Color me jealous. Lol
Wow an XJ as a first vehicle badass! Pretty generous and cool of you guys to pass it along to your brother inlaw. Sure he will be super appreciative. Clean LJ looking fwd to all the vids coming. JL only in a diesel other than that Im very happy with my JK. Take Care.✋😀🚙💨
Nice man! Congrats on the new ride. I actually like 16s cause I wheel with 255/85r16 they’re actually about 33.5” but not much to choose from brand wise. Yes they’re narrow but they work wonders for me on a Toyota.. yes I said Toyota yes I watch Jeep videos lol.. I want a Jeep!!!
I have seen the ls swap videos with Cassie (spelling of her name?) wrenching away. I laughed watching this video because I knew already 🤣 she was serious and its her jeep LJ. I have had a 2009 and now will have an LJ soon. Its bought and coming. It is getting similar changes as Cassie's LJ. Mainly the LS Swap. Good vids 👌
JK Gear and Gadgets it doesn’t always make a noise. But if you get a CEL with certain codes, it may be to late. The crown unit is the best one on the market.
Ok, I've had my 2005 LJ for a year now and this is the first I've heard anything about the Opda possibly having issues. So I did a search and found some info and it got me paranoid enough to call my mechanic and make an appointment to get it checked out and possibly replaced with the Crown. I love my LJ and the poor thing has been in and out of the shop three times in the past 5 months and it would break my heart to have a catastrophic failure so I'm not taking any chances! So thank you for the heads up!
Yyyeeeaaaaahhhhhhh buddy !!!! Congrats man. That’ll definitely help grow your channel. Love those. Unfortunately I’m Canada with our wonderful winters and road salt those older jeeps are hard to find in good shape . That would make a good candidate for the old 44s from your jk when u do the axle swap !! Just sayin .
I just picked up an '06 LJ on Jan. 5th. Had a choice of 5 different LJs from 2 dealers on the same road. Went with a silver one with just under 93,700 miles for $9,995. He has a black one with 135,000 miles for $8,995. Both have soft tops. The other dealer had all hard tops and was asking too much for them. It didn't take long for my Amazon shopping cart to fill up with things to add on to the Jeep. :-) Just Empty Every Pocket, right? lol
@@MOAB4MEJK AnsoniaAutoPark.com has the 2005 black Wrangler Unlimited The listed price is $9,995 but Dan may discount it. The other 3 Unlimiteds are hardtops and range from $12,500 to $14,000. They can be seen at RoadReadyUsedCars.com. They won't haggle over price.
Goodluck with the pcm. My 06 LJ is on its 3rd. $1800+ from the dealer... and no longer available .... if you start to get hard shifts when cold from 1 to 2,... it's not the TRS. Its the PCM.
My sister has one of these and she's been calling it a TJ unlimited? I've been try to find a PCM for it as her jeep runs fine but, has a PCM problem code. Maybe I'm looking for the wrong vehicle. Definitely going to share this video with her. She would probably watch your wife do a little wrenching too.
Technically yes it is a wrangler unlimited, but it’s not really a TJ. I’ve heard of others having pcm issues and there are only a few places to buy them other than a dealership or a yunkyard. Hope you can find one soon! And have her subscribe! Cassie will be doing all types of cool videos!
Just be careful you don’t use too much and remove the clearcoat. If it’s just a tiny amount of overspray then look at a clay bar kit, and might as well do the whole Jeep at that point. It will make it beautiful!
