A friend gave me a Digitech Bad Monkey years ago, and it got fried due to a grounding issue with my pedalboard at the time. I bought another one a couple of years ago for 2 reasons: 1) I absolutely love the pedal; 2) I found out that it could be uses as an 'amp in a box' through the mixer output. I'd never even paid attention to that when I had one previously, but I used it straight into the mixer on a couple of songs when recording an album, and it worked great! I've used it twice in a live setting, and it worked awesomely well! Great little pedal!

I could be totally wrong but I think the supa tonebender was essentially a big muff but with some clipping stage removed. Or maybe that was the jumbo tonebender. Or maybe both

Man, you are a great player! About 15 years ago, in 2006-2007, I bought a Digitech display pedalboard of Digitech's distortion pedals at the time, there were five of them on the pedalboard, the Bad Monkey and the Hot Head were on there, as well as the Screaming Blues, Grunge, and Death Metal pedals. It is hard to beat Digitech for bang for the buck, or it was. Supposedly, someone is bringing Digitech back, could just be a rumor or maybe the deal will fall through, who knows, but I have always been a fan of Digitech.

Huge Bad Monkey fan here - my favourite OD ever and the only one i would use live - a TS with bass that cut's through any mix in a 70's way. I've retired mine now as I didn't want it to break. Josh Scott was joking but correct - I'd take a monkey over a centaur every time.

The digitech Bad Monkey was the first pedal I got and I still use it today. Phil X also got some great tones out of the Bad Monkey too

??? They look way to brand new. Thinking, that if he did own them we'd see some Gary aggressive use (scuffs, scratches etc.) On them.

i used to "endorse" digitech pedals. always saw the bad monkey and didnt really know what it was. had no idea gary used it.

Nice, I have the same fuzz, bought it used. I couldn't believe it when I saw it had the nkt172 red dots. It sounds really good, its always on for me, its worth the cost in batteries. Would love to hear how you think it compares to silicon fuzzes? I think there's a big difference in sound. Silicon sounds thinner and more metallic like to me. Germanium doesn't seem to effect your original tone as much.

Not Bad! Cool style of unison bends and vibrato. I think if you learn how to flamenco roll and incorporated upstrokes while attacking the fretboard would make your playing more multi dimensional. Cheers

Wow that Pic of Gary Moore🤯 Was it that bad as the story behind his awful scars was him going in a pub with a beautiful chic dressed in schoolgirl regalia and after defending her honour after two drunken degenerates gave her abuse, they ended up glassing him. Gary Moore had that Jeff Beck quality about him in that everything he did was entirely his own thing
