"Don't die if you're walking up the spiral staircase of doom" That reminds me of my second time DMing for D&D. Big spiral staircase around open air and our dark elf decides the *perfect* idea is to cliff dive into the pool of water at the bottom. Instead of, you know. TAKING THE STAIRS.
Sometimes you wonder if it's the name of the game or the process the program is going through. Is it Scrap Mechanic or is it scrapping game mechanics? "Gravity, don't need it. Physics, dumb meta. RNG, KEEP THAT!!!"
You should have the other tree be a garage for all of your vehicles. That way, during raids your creations will be protected. You can also make a vehicle elevator.
You guys should definately make a hanging bridge like scrapman did between the trees, it basically works as a bridge with a bunch of 10x10 bridge segments with loose bearings connecting them so the bridge hangs like a chain/rope. Love the content
If you do use the other tree as a "home" tree, you should totally have a "zipline" system between the 2 trees. Like, you sit in a seat, and hit a button, and it takes you across to the other tree. Maybe have it also move one from the other side at the same time so you don't have to wait at either end.
Hey Kan & Kosmo, I made your farm to see if I could automate it for something to do in SM. Firstly I altered your farm size by removing 2 rows so it's 53 x 36 (instead of 38), I did this because it's divisible by 9 and makes for easier harvesting. In total I used 32 x L5 pistons 24 x logic gates 17 x sensors 9 x water cannons 18 x vacuum pumps (6 sucking up water into the containers, 3 for harvesting, 9 for planting) 7 x large chests (3 for planting, 4 for harvesting) 3 x water containers 3 x L3 controllers 3 x switches (to move carriage onto next 9 rows) 3 x buttons Some tubing I had some logistical issues as harvesting 9 rows fills up more than 3 chests so had the 3 chests on the harvesting vaccum pumps tubed into a 4th chest to catch the remaining surplus. Because after a single run down 9 rows filled up the harvesting chests it becomes impossible to truly automate the entire field and because of the weight you can't feasibly harvest, plant and water the entire field in one go (well I couldn't figure out how). I mean those pistons pushing down 53 plots only just manage with pumps, cannons and chests for 9 rows. So after planting a full set of 9 it comes back to the beginning (sometimes so fast I fear it's gonna break) and I flick a switch to move the "caddy" up 9 rows to go again and do the same for the other sets of 9. The last issue you have is you can't hold enough seeds to do all 36 rows without refilling for the last 9 so manually moving each set of 9 was the way to go. Anyway totally glued to how you're gonna automate this. It took me best part of 2-3 weeks to get this working after tearing it down several times and re-doing.
I've been binge rewatching co op while I've been working on my own survival world and I love that you guys finally put a dock in, you've been talking about it for forever
Almost done with the tree? Want to expand and connect both trees with a rope bridge? Check out my creation “kan suspension bridge” in the workshop with directions included! (Updated version for improved directions and ease of use)
Make a metal harvester if you don't want to grind mining. 1) one box. 2 compartments. First compartment has the crops and the space from the walls is longer than haybot range with the front having a small window for crop viewing the window side will have a 4 height tier 3 metal fence. Second compartment is the kill zone. The killzone will have an opening for haybots to come in. 2) Killing mechanism: there will be platforms four thick that go up and down in a wave offset for 3 cycles. each wave will have a 7 second cooldown to allow for haybots to come in. 3) surround the other three sides with spaced out sawblades (enough to scare the farmbots but not too much that you waste materials) on slow turning bearings. 4) make a system for collecting the resources. Id say put resource collectors on the sides encased or put them on pistons that go down and in to the killzone when its turned off and it delivers it back to the top with the refinery. or just make a pusher on one side and the refinery and collector on the other side for the collection. This is just something I came up with and can definitely be made into a better version by you.
for the glow farm, you can hook up a water container to the output chest and a pump that shoots the water out: the water container only lets the water through.
One tree for building and maybe a helipad or runway and the other for crafting, food, bedding, and maybe like aesthetic fun things like Swiss Family Robinson. I think that’s be pretty cool
I just watched a video where this guy was trying to figure out how to keep your glow bugs forever and he found out that you only have to feed them every 30 in game days or 12 real hours.
May I add, if you create a farm on a small island and place a bunch of parts around on that island it gives no place to spawn bots and you don’t have to defend anything... I just did this but I might have harvested just before the timer was up.
Kosmo: "well I get wood all the time" Me: *thinks nothing of it* Me: *rembers that he just found out that wood is really expensive* Me: " wait a dang minuet. Did he really just do that"
The scout platform reminds me of the scene from Jurassic Park where they go up in the trees in the thing that pulls them up Don't know what it's called
make a yeet machine close to the top of the tree maybe on the third platform and on the first platform you could make a bridge with bearings like the one Kosmo made i think it would be super cool
Can you put refineries underground? If you could, you might be able to make a bot killing field for automatic harvesting of metal. All you would need is an automatic way of killing the bots, then you could use a farm to lure in raids.
Why doesn't Kan just use bearings on the side of a rail and a controller to make the pipe slope downward? He is doing consistent 1x1 slope so that's just a 45 degrees on a controller.
I think you should recreate the lumber mill and the stone crusher you had in your singleplayer world so you won't waste time hammering trees and loose rocks.
For a railing, couldn't you use straight pipe mounted (via a curved pipe) to a bearing on each end and set it to be 45 deg one one end and -45 on the other?
hook up a light to the elevator button so you can see when the button is pressed. this will help you two from spamming the elevator when you ride it together. (ive barely played this game at this point so i dont even know if thats possible)
Bro mod the blocks so you get 4 or 8x more blocks, of course you'll also make the costs of everything increase by the same amount. So no extra blocks for crafting, just extra blocks to place around. (I can do that if you want, already have the code but the mod is not updated)
