This video is honestly so impressive in every way. It shows that you have a great knowledge not only of storage tech, but also of the RU-vid algorithm, viewer retention, editing, storytelling. It's incredible, honestly one of the best videos in RU-vid.
Thanks, I had a feeling I was doing something right with this video, it's often difficult for me to balance engagement with being informative and I'm glad to hear that others picked up on it.
The only thing left me feeling disappointed was Plant hall wasn't green, and Redstone hall wasn't red. otherwise an overall epic level technical build!
It´s just so appreciable that you take it and share all your effort and work in a world download, not many youtubers are so open. Crafting such a video in a educative, informativ and entertaining form with open nature is really a remarkable accomplishment and should be taken as advice by others.
most minecraft technical youtubers used to be like this. now that sub-culture is nearly dead. cubicmetre and JKM are practically the only ones left making detailed videos like this.
My goodness... I don't regret building your old Ultimate Storage System, but I'm not sure if my sanity is there to also include this second monstrosity in my world. Great job to all storage tech and WaveTech member!
@@Inventiveness_probably not relevant for you now, but if someone wants to know: -shulker color sorter -furnace array -chunkloading -mass crafting system -slot reservation mis (not that good) -projects room -restock station -unstackable sorter btw you can add those components to your storage if you already have one
INSANE edit man, well done - that opening was killer. Loved the breakdown. Very skillfully paced. Never felt like we were staying somewhere too long or not receiving enough information to feel informed (I know I'm not, but I feel like I understood what you were saying!).
This storage system made me feel jealous of anyone for the first time in years!!! it's amazing!!!! I can't even express just how much this system made me fall for it. All of you, who were working on this project are absolute geniuses and deserve all the fame and recognition possible. this is just amazing
hey I'm currently playing around with the world download and the dolphins in the mass crafter is always dying in the waterlogged chest do I need a mod or is there a fix for this. version 1.20.4
Wow, this is actually seriously impressive. Clearly a huge amount of thought has gone into the functionality and interface to make it easy and intuitive to use. Even beyond the function, simply colour coding things (e.g. the different halls, shulker box colours) is enormously helpful for building habits and reducing cognitive load. Fabulous!
This was the video that rlly got me digging into the depths of minecraft storage tech. The first time watching this i thought to myself there was no way i could understand a slither of what's going on but as i checked out the WD for it and also joining the ST discord, the idea of building this thing gets less ridiculous as the days go by and rn, i've decided to go with building this for my server hosted with my frens, and just replacing some of the components that r lil outdated based on testing it on later versions but overall, great work to u n the other ppl that were involved with this mega project. Keep up the good work. 👍
Something about 18:28 is mind blowing. Pointing out parts of contraptions is one thing, like saying "this is the double piston extender for the 3x3 door." But when the components in question are so big that you can't even see the blocks that make them up, it's seriously insane
The parallel sorting bit was quite interesting. My solution would have been to strap two of Boyenn's setfilter in series to get two times hopperspeed. (If the first filter rejects it, it enters the second filter. If the second filter rejects it, it enters the waiting area.) This might have worked. In the end though the variable speed filter is quite nice epecially if the storage is only partially at two times hopperspeed. Nice video overall!
I mean, the only reason this wasnt done is probably because the chest Items get sorted at hopper Speed, so they would overflow when supplied with 2x hopper speed.
Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this project cubicmetre!! I've been watching your videos for some time now and although I really struggle to understand half of the high level redstone you make, I really enjoy you going through it and watching it work. I'm blown up from every mechanic that allows these systems to exist and how you guys come up with clever solutions for our common (or not so common) minecraft problems. Ever since I started my survival world at the start of this year, I've wanted to build a proper, reliable storage system for my builds, so I've been turning up to your channel for reference and learning how this complex world of sorting and storage works. At the beginning of this video I was like "This is GLORIOUS!!! I MUST BUILD THIS IN SURVIVAL!", but I'm just a Minecraft casual single player, so as it progressed I quickly realised that, as much as I'd like to, it's just WAY too insane and complicated for me to do (no offense), especially if something ever broke. So I was wondering, would you be willing to make some sort of a simplified, more approachable version of this absolute monstrosity, so that's suitable for us single player / more casual players to build? I think it would make many of us really happy. For one, I would really, REALLY appreciate it, since if I wouldn't quite know how to do it myself. It could even turn into a series if you like to, "Casual-friendly redstone builds" or something like that. Anyways, it'd be great if you did it. Really enjoy your work. Thank you! Greetings from Argentina :D
This looks exactly like what I'm looking for. Now I can spend all the mats that I have in my single player survival world to sort all the mats that I don't have any more. Edit: I just got home and got to check the world download. OMG!!! The fact that you have the redstone part AND the decoration around it, all in the world download is just mind blowing. NOW this is my main minecraft project for the next 6 months. I'm liking the video, subscribing to the channel. Most people would've limited the world download to patreon but you are just AWESOME !!!
The shulker boxes in the floor is really cool, cool enough that it inspired me to design my own version lol. This is quieter than mine, but I'm still happy with the design.
I love to see a storage system on this high advanced server because everytime they say "And this will be a perfect storage for us" and them 1 year pas and they need to build a new storage and start to say "The last one was relly good but have somes failer". And i know that they test every possible failure on the redstone and the machine, but only time can tell if they are good enough or not, and that's why we see so many upgrade and rebuilds
Awesome! Been looking forward to this video (and download lol) for ages. I've learned so much about storage tech by exploring your machines in creative and I'm looking forward to exploring this build.
i suggest the name "radiation hardening" for the process of unload-proofing, reload-proofing, server restart-proofing, and just general wtf-proofing of redstone machines:) the name comes from an insane codegolf challenge, where you need to complete a specific task, and your code needs to still run after one of the characters is replaced with a random byte. as in, every single one character variation from your code needs to work perfectly. there's actually a lot in common between technical minecraft and codegolf, creating complex behaviours under crazy conditions you know.
I just finished building your Endpillar Farm. Adapted it for my needs. Was planning and gathering Tech for my main storage now. Thank you so much for this. The WDL is very much appreciated and will help a lot!
Endpillar farm? didn't think anybody would be insane enough to build that thing. Keep in mind that you will need to check up on the golems every now and then and heal one of them if it takes damage. There is an issue with wither skulls phasing through blocks on reloads and damaging golems.
@@cubicmetre Thanks for the hint! Will do. Only problem is that i forgot my bot in the end and after that it lagged so hard (150ms) that the withers got free. Any idea what might cause that? Glad i had a backup though.
This is an absolutely amazing project the amount of effort and hard work u guys put in Is truly remarkable , 1 thing I think would be an amazing add to this already op and crazy storage system is the village matrix trading hall ‼️‼️
Refined Storage / Applied Energistics 2 : Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power! to be honest tho very insane work, I would never have the dedication to build this kind of system in a vanilla world.
Wavetech's is easier to understand, but some of the redstone contraptions is outdated but easy to replace. I cant understand scicraft's current storage cuz who has time to learn encoded tech
they make a genius sorting system but then make the color coding like that *GREEN* isnt for PLANTS and woods and *RED* isnt for REDSTONE yellow being for construction/building mats makes sense at least
You need to understand that the item layout was set very early in the storages development, and this means setting up items filters and the displays. Unfortunately I just happened to set it up such that the redstone hall was pointing in the same direction as the green pistonbolt from the nether hub. And people wanted to match the direction and colour of the halls with the pistonbolt network. This was done after the item layout was established and it wasn;t important enough to go through the effort of moving the item layout to match up with the colour scheme.
The simplest way to make a worthy design is to completely test it over and over until you get something that can be nearly infinitely extendable. This is why I have a testing room for contraptions in the server I play in before I completely implement them. Mega bases are worth the time to build so storage is never a hassle, and don't push the storage to just a working design but efficient too.
I doubt I'll ever work on a project of this sheer scale in Minecraft, but I've always loved this kind of technical play and problem solving in the game! At some point I think I will take a look at that world download and learn how to make a (much simpler and smaller) sorting system for my own world. Also, I hope you can get into how unstackable item sorting works, it blows my mind that that's even possible!
in the world download file several blocks are floating and are destroyed when next to them blocks are updated, but the storage is amazing and a very ingenious mechanism, congrats
Oh the storage breakdown is not meant to be fully functional as there are parts where I didn't make the selection boxes properly, the full storage is at spawn.
8:50 you can actually get around this problem by one-ticking your block placement so the water doesn't flow out, just time your right clicks at the exact time the block breaks. its much easier to do in creative, but it's replicable in survival too
this is rather neat. I like the cathedral. Wish Scicraft had built something cool around their new main storage (they may have done later, i haven't seen currently)
Idk if possible, but I guess you could add a system that detects when the spawn chunks get loaded (should only happen when the server restarts). It starts a timer that should finish a few minutes before the next server restart is scheduled (so 23h and 30mins or something if your server restarts every 24h). This could trigger a system (via wireless redstone) to shutdown all machines (by either powering an on/off switch or blocking the input and throwing all the items in a buffer) when the timer runs out so that nothing breaks. When the server restarts the first person to get online could automatically restart the storage by simply flying in and loading the area. Or you could make a line of chunkloaders working their way from spawn to storage to trigger a restart of the storage system
This might be a unpopular opinion, but I think the Resource Pack you have on actually was distracting from the building process instead of enhancing the experience which I imagine is what you were going for, either way this is a epic build and can't wait too see what you do next!
When they were thinking up and designing Minecraft in the beginning they probably never imagined this is what people would be building and doing. Fully functional automated automatic sorting system where you don't even got to go get your stuff It comes to you. This is insane And like I know what he's saying and I can get it but I can't really comprehend it like how is a lot of this stuff possible I feel like I'm in some like advanced college course of quantum mechanics.
damn I havent played minecraft in sometime, and this video blew my mind how much the game has changed. It's actually crazy what you can do now with redstone. Must of took you guys forever to build this.
Challenge: Build an ME-system in Vanilla Minecraft. Objectives: Make it as close to the level of convenience, and at least have similar functionality of an actual ME-system, and of course be within the limitations of Vanilla Minecraft. (It can be larger to accommodate for those limitations.)
Cubicmetre: Wow! We did it you guys! We finally made the most ultimate storage system imaginable in minecraft. I can't believe it's all over. What do we do now? Trolle: what do you mean. Now we can play the game. Cubicmetre: oh., oh yeah
As a person who plays on bedrock, i would 100% build this on my single player world, if there was a tutorial. This stuff right here, makes me want Java more and more
Honestly if you want to do anything technical, you should play on the Java edition, bedrock makes it almost impossible to access to tools necessary to do advanced technical designs, let alone the mechanics to actually make them work properly.
@@cubicmetre yeah. I know. I’m not anywhere near technical like you guys, but I do know way to much about the game. And with all the knowledge, it just solidifies that Java is superior for mega farms are builds. More Redstone reliable. And also, really cool you responded. Wasn’t looking for one. But good job on all of your videos. Been binge watching them. God I love this game
