His biggest issue with his shield was that he put a bunch of metal and bolts in it, that only served for decorative purposes while also weakening the wood. Other than that, he got the look he was going for.

One issue of having shields in the apocalypse is the weight of long term foot travel. And it would be better to get padding for elbows, knees, hands, etc. If we're talking zombies, to protect from attacks. Or just for added comfort when kneeling or lying down.

I honestly believe that the barbarian blocker was the better looking shield just the design was very less than adequate it had no other supports and no real way to grip it and that’s coming from a guy who made a shield from a plywood pallet I think we can all agree that not a lot of thought was put into constructing the shield
