those prices are somewhat outdated, particularly the engine. an engine will go from about 8 to 10 million. this year there's 22 races teams are allowed 3 engines per season per car , but they will usually use 4 engines per car, per season. thats without crashes or reliability issues. so each team goes through at least 6 to 8 engines for both cars in 1 season.

Top drivers in F1 like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen make 20 to 45 million dollars a year. Mid pack drivers Daniel Ricardo, Carlos Sainz Jr make 5 to 15 million a year. That low level drivers are lucky to make 1 million or have to pay the team 10-15 million to drive their car and then you have Lance Stroll who's dad bought a team so his kid could drive for it. There is also performance bonuses so the better you do the more you get paid.

keep in mind the engine (or power unit) is a hybrid engine and its composed of 5 different 6 different parts. The engine itself, the hybrid unit (MGU-H), the other hybrid unit (MGU-K), gearbox, turbocharger, and the electronic unit. the entire unit itself cant last an entire season so theyre allowed a certain amount of parts they can switch out from the power unit. so really at any given race weekend teams are sitting on about 20 million-ish for just the engine alone. when you add in spare parts for everything else on the car and the team itself you end up with a metric fuckton of money spent

The eingines in F1 are 50% thermal efficient, put that into regular terms, it's how much fuel is spent on making the car go. Normal road cars have around 25-35% thermal efficiency. The margins of error the engines tolerance for the pistons (the tiny amount of space between the cylinder and the piston) is 10 microns. As reference, a human hair is 70 microns thick. That's why the engines cost so much, even it's even more today. Now for some teams (Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault) supply engines for other teams to buy, they have to make every single engine absolutely perfect before they can ship it out. I think Mercedes in 2020 spent around $490 million dollars on their adventures that year, and that was a short year. Over the past few years Mercedes has spent well over $2 billion running their cars from 2014-2021 and they won the constructors championship (who can build the best car) 8 years in a row, an insane record that will probably never be broken. There is no insurance because the teams build everything themselves. F1 teams rarely make a significant profit, I believe Ferrari in 2019 only made about $1 million in profit after spending hundreds of millions on racing. F1 is just marketing, essentially, that's why Red Bull is in it, it's all marketing. Ferrari even states that their F1 team is a significant portion of their image and marketing. Great video guys!

9:35 There are 22 races between March and the end of November. Usually, there is a 1 week or rarely a 2 week break between each race. But because there are so many races we also have a lot of double- and triple-header meaning having 2 (double-header) or 3 (triple-header) races directly the weekends after eachother. There's also a 4 week summer break where the teams have to completly shut down the factory and police that actually no one is working there for 2 weeks, otherwise they get a really harsh fine.

@kendrinawaskoro3031
@kendrinawaskoro3031 2 года назад
Some teams got more money, and some didn't. There are teams also in the automotive industry (selling cars or sports cars) like Mercedes, Ferrari, Alpine (Renault), Alfa Romeo, Mclaren, and Aston Martin. There's also a team that sells energy drinks like Red Bull (with their sister team, Alpha Tauri (previously Torro Rosso); which makes a deal with a fashion brand Alpha Tauri). Imagine the amount of money from selling exotic cars and that's not including how many sponsor brands they signed with. More sponsors = More money. Compared to smaller teams like Haas and Williams, they're in the engineering business (making parts for industry, cars, airplanes, etc.) so they had less money. The new rule of 2022 is to limit the budget each team can run per season to just 140 Million Dollars. Remember the money is not only to pay the wage for the mechanics, engineers, and workers, but also for research (to upgrade car parts). Previously larger and richer teams like Mercedes for example cost them 410 Million Dollars (I think it's around 2018 or 2019 season) to run the whole operation in one season when small teams like Williams only can run with a 120 Million Dollars budget. That explains why in the past, the competition for backmarker teams (teams with less money = slower car = always in the back) is impossible, but now it's more even between the teams. About wage, it's depends on the experience and performance throughout the season and the previous season. Lewis Hamilton (7x World Champions) and Max Verstappen (2021 World Champions) are currently the highest paid drivers. To make it short, the rest of the drivers paid around 1-25 Million Dollars (not include bonus if they win or score points. Once there's a driver named Kimi Raikonnen (2007 World Champion) once promised a 50,000 Dollars bonus for EVERY SINGLE POINTS he scores. He ended up with 390 points and the team owned him almost 19 Million Dollars of bonus and the team went bankrupt.
@rachelkoiks
@rachelkoiks 2 года назад
Depends on the driver. Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) are in the top 50 highest paid athletes in the world. Let’s just conservatively say about $40 mil. Then there’s the $20 mil guys who are either past their prime former world champions no longer fighting in the front but got clout and are in the same category as a talented and/or popular mid-field driver. Like Daniel Ric about $20 mil but his stock is dropping due to poor performance and too much to mention, then you got some guys at $5mil to $1mil. Having talent isn’t enough for a seat though. The only seat available for the ‘22 season after Kimi retired was given to the first Chinese driver, who brings about $30 mil to the team. Mercedes spent something like over £400 million for the 2019 season, and they were the #1 team that year. Then you have the small teams, the bottom of the grid who struggle to stay afloat. Many don’t last because they realize they’re not winning so they don’t get prize money and sponsors. These teams have like 300 employees vs over 1k at Merc, and usually will bring in a son of a billionaire to drive to help fund the team and stay afloat. So they probably got one driver getting paid $1-$5 at most who probably has the talent, then the money driver who’s good, just not great. Which is why a Budget Cap was introduced, to help the small teams not drown by Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari who didn’t have a budget. So I think now it’s at £135mil/season. Crashing a car for small teams would literally bankrupt them. Now, their ass is on the line if you’re crashing no matter what team you’re in because the big teams are roughing it with their budgets slashed by 75%.

Most teams are car manufacturers but there are exceptions. Mercedes Ferrari Red Bull (Outlier here as they are not a manufacturer brand but they utilize brands like Honda for their engines) McLaren but their engines in F1 are from Mercedes unlike their homegrown engines that are in their road cars Alpine are the sports/luxury division of Renault, a French car company. Aston Martin but like their road cars, use Mercedes engines. Alpha Tauri, same case as Red Bull under their luxury clothing brand and used Honda engines too. Basically they are Red Bull’s B team. Haas: CNC machining company from the US and has motorsport roots from NASCAR. They use Ferrari engines. Alfa Romeo is another Italian manufacturer same as Ferrari but they use Ferrari engines in their F1 cars. Williams is a legendary name in the sport but due to lacking funding from a manufacturer they have fallen behind from developing their cars but they use Mercedes engines.

They have two cars per team and replace those two cars in full/partial parts about 5 times a year and some parts don’t get replaced that much and some have an official max they try to not exceed like the engines (3 is penalty free). But they also need to think out the parts. $160k for a new front wing is only making it. Not design and windtunnel time. So simpler to say it costs (in the cost cap they have now) a maximum of $72,5 million dollar per car to race them and move them all over the world. As the driver pay is not included in the 145 million capped budget. But before that it was easy 350 million for the top teams and rumors are that Toyota spent $500 million per season for a couple of them. Ok that’s also including designing the engines as well. But still, so do Ferrari Renault and Mercedes.

Add.: The fans watching a race weekend pay a hell lot of money to be there! For my last ticket (training session + qualifying + race) in "Spielberg" I spent - converted - in sum $550. I guess they also make money from selling food and drinks. A tiny glass of water is about $5 each - for example. And yeah: Merchandise! :-) Beside that they have sponsors, right payments from tv stations, etc.

F1 is a business, yes you need to have money to get in F1 but indeed the sponsors pay for a lot of the things you couldn't really afford otherwise unless you just want to bleed money year after year. There is a video about pit crew salaries too if you want to react to that, you'd be surprised (or not? not sure anymore). I highly doubt there's insurance on anything related to the car, probably not even warranties on the parts that are bought from other suppliers, but in the end the teams have so much money that I'm not sure they need any of those things anyway.

most of the time there are 2 back to back races in a month, there are around 22-23 races a year in a 10 month period But you need to count in the practice runs the qualifing and the race. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_5BWURpn2dY.html so that is around 7 million dollars driving 4 times in a race weekend around twice a month

So usually they race back to back weekends but depending on the distance from each track they race every two weeks and right now they on summer break so the next race weekend is August 26-28 the race is on the 28th and qualifying is on the 27th

There are currently 22 races a year. The teams will only use a max of 8 cars between two drivers in a session. The highest payed drivers currently are Max and Lewis who both get 40Mil a year

He gives the cost for the parts ,however its misleading cause the design & developing costs arent in theres,so it might be 6 mil on paper but overall its a lot more than that.

You can actually look at some of the numbers of the teams. To put it short: the teams usually equal out to 0 money gained per season if not paying extra. But it's HUGE PR.

23 races, hundreds of laps per weekend, that’s thousands of tires per team, imagine the price of the fuel, imagine the price of the actual development during and before the new season. Hundreds of millions spent.
@avdtouw

So a team is on a budget of about 150M per year.. that does not include salaries of the drivers.. Max Verstappen makes about 50M per year, just like Hamilton. 2 cars in a team. they use at least 3 engines per season per car, often more. there's 22 races this year. They race from march to december, every other week... sometimes they have back to back races or even triple headers.

Whenever a part is damaged they don’t fix it, they simply replace it, when a crash happens they just put in brand new parts. Also there’s no insurence, each team spends their own money on repairs
