Fans speculate that Nolan is at least 2,000 years old. He likely wanted to wait for Debbie and Mark to die off before trying to conquer the planet. Mark getting his powers meant that wouldn't happen so he had to do the plan. It also feels like all that horrible stuff Nolan said was more to himself than Mark, that he was trying to convince himself more than anything.
Saying: "The gore gets to me man" literally seconds before the train scene is hysterical lmao also "Why does he need a kid?" is a very very good question that will probably be addressed in season 3 or 4.
One thing to think about is Debbie telling Nolan that people forget the joy of childhood and are weighed down by burden as they get older, and Nolan is several thousand years old. He has lost perspective of joy.
This was a BRUTAL heartbreaker. Omni-man started off as a heartless, ruthless conqueror when he first came to Earth undercover. He never lost the ruthless part, but in the midst of those years he unwittingly gained a heart. And Nolan just didn’t realize how much he had changed until it was too late. He thought he could go back to what he was then. Mark’s answer to 500 years hit Nolan harder than any punch that Mark or Immortal or anyone else has thrown at him. Yes, he was shedding tears. If you have magnifying vision, look closely there was a LOT more than one tear.
Just like in the flashback. Debbie talk about how when we grow older, we often forget the simple joys of life. Nolan is very old, and I imagine all his life he never experience them to begin with so that is very true for Nolan. He was born on Viltrum that is very cold and ruthless. He growing up knowing nothing but war and he spent his entire life up to this point conquering planets. Thousands of years of indoctrination and violence. It is only after he got assigned to Earth by himself that he get to live outside of Viltrum's influence and away from other Viltrumites. He get to experiencing joy and happiness for the first time with someone he loves. If Mark never get his power, Nolan would just wait until everyone he know die of old age first before starting his mission.
yess, this is an amazing finale. man, out of all the invincible reactors i've seen, you guys are my favorite by far! you strike that perfect balance of truly feeling all the emotions as they come while staying smart and analytical with the theorizing. i love how you don't cut a ton out to keep the video short as well. can't wait for more :D
6:23 always breaks my heart, because of COURSE straight to punching him. “My dad wouldn’t do this, my dad isn’t this person. He must be being controlled and I know I can hit him as hard as I can and do nothing to him, but it might shake loose who’s in there.” Having recently read through all the comics, this scene just goes to show who Mark really is at this point and it’s gut wrenching given how it plays out through the episode.
the 2nd season is amazing, binged it thrice already, season 1 is more expository as Invincible discovers what its like to be a hero, while season 2 explores who Mark is and what he truly is capable of. it also does an amazing job at showing the fallout of the 1st season and how everyone was effected. cant wait to see you guys explore their demonstration of grief (in my opinion its amazing, their will be a couple parallels so I hope you guys catch on to them!) ;) also about the Omni Man calling Debbie a pet, someone did the math, and it is roughly estimated that Omni Man is around 2500-4000 years old, and that the 20 years he spent with debbie compared to 2000 years is merely 1% of Omnimans lifespan so far, while a pet like a dog can live up to 10 or more percent of our human life span (if we were to live to 100), plus, science also shows that as we grow older some funny stuff happens to our brains that makes us less and less empathetic and become more grouchy or something like that, and with Viltrumites having similar genetic makeup to humans, maybe with the thousands of years of Omni Mans life, that could very much multiply Omni Mans loyalty to Viltrum and his barbaric culture! cheers!!!
Loving Debbie like a pet is absolutely brutal to hear but we love our pets sooooooo deeply, but also understand we’re here for a lot longer than them, in Nolan’s case, he’ll outlive her 100x over. It just makes a lot of sense he would choose that wording even tho it’s kinda hard to hear.
I found this channel randomly yesterday and was upset there was no reaction to the finale. I didnt realize you guys had just started watching the series xD - I assumed you randomly abandoned the channel. Excited to watch this. Will update afterwards.
Nolan is thousands of years old, well over 2000. 20 years on earth is teeny tiny percentage of his life. Also a kid means another Viltrumite to help with the future expansion and another soldier to their ranks so their numbers aren’t as thinned out.
Many have said this but omni man in this episode is not him trying to convince mark but to convince himself he’s still who he was been most of his life.
I've been waiting for this episode and can't wait for you to start watching season 2. We need a schedule or something so I'm not checking youtube everyday T.T
40:34 Debbie talked about being the one who taught Nolan how things on Earth work so he's not been there for to long. Also, you questions about what Viltrum wants with Earth are going to be answered in time.
42:25 remember Allen says when his people fought against a the viltrumites they destroyed his entire planet so I think it’s more of sacrificing one planet to scare others into conforming
Great point. Nolen didnt prepare Mark just like he didnt prepare himself for this utterly inhumane process. He just turned on centuries-old autopilot. Makes sense since he is not human and is encountering humanity so late in his life.
Yeah...the finale was a tough one. A lot of things Omni-Man and Mark said hit hard. I agree though Cecil is a G. He's one of my favorite characters along with Eve. His ability to act objective in the heat of the moment is commendable. And yet when he needs to be there on a personal level with someone, he's capable of that too. I felt y'all so much when you wanted to hear what Eve had to say to Mark in the aftermath. Honestly I felt like she deserved some one-on-one screen time with Mark cause like you two mentioned she gives great advice and is real supportive despite her personal life which I can't admire enough. For her to kind of get sidelined to make way for that unpleasant interaction between Amber and Mark where she kisses him like nothing happened??? Wtf? I get if you want to be there for him even though your last conversation didn't go well but that kiss felt inappropriate for the situation. Anyways...can't wait for the Atom Eve special reaction and INVINCIBLE SEASON 2 FULL STEAM AHEAD
To me, Nolan wanted a "mini vacation". He hoped he could wait it out until Debbie & Mark passed away from old age. Once Mark showed having powers, Nolan knew he could no longer wait for Mark to "age out". "Think, Mark!" - I think Omni-Man was trying to convince himself. Amber: "Looks like I wasn't the only person being lied to." Can the scriptwriters find any other way of making Amber's character sound like an insensitive narcissist? They had been doing it the entire season. Amber doesn't act like an organically written character. Instead she acts like a bad writer's idea of an empowered ideology. None of the characters behave organically when interacting with Amber or her antics. *Debbie the "Pet":* To give a perspective of time for Omni-Man: I could be remembering this wrong, but I think a clue dropped at one point when Omni-Man said "he remembered something from yesterday" and Debbie corrected him saying "that happened years ago". Maybe this was from the comics? When Omni-Man crushed Red Rush's head, it lasted less than a second but felt 'like hours' of agony to Red Rush. Omni-Man has the opposite problem. According to Comic Vine, no Viltrumite is ever stated to pass the mark of 100,000 years old. To make calculations simple, let's equate 80,000 years Viltrimite life span and 80 years Human life span. Let's also assume Viltrumites feel time with the same ratio applied. Applying the ratio of a Vitrumite living to 80,000 years and a human living to 80 years. 80,000 yrs / 80 yrs = a factor of 1,000 Same factor ratio by human standards - 80 years / 1,000 = 0.08 year Since 1 year = 365 days 0.08 x 365 days = 29.2 days So 80 years to a Viltrumite feels approximately like 29.2 days to a human. Debbie was already an adult when Nolan met her. He spent 20 years on Earth = feeling like 7.3 days to a Viltrumite. The rest of Debbie's life would be approximately 40 years which feels like 14.6 more days for Nolan. It was Debbie's short lifespan that made her feel more like a "pet" to Nolan.
If Mark doesn't join Omni-Man, then Omni-Man has no choice but to kill him. The danger is that the other Viltrumites will come and kill millions of humans to force Earth to comply. If Mark joins Nolan then those human deaths can be avoided. Resisting the Viltrum Empire is useless. Also, Mark was a late bloomer. Viltrumite children get their powers early. Mark got his very late so Omni-Man literally thought Mark wouldn't develop powers at all. Remember, Mark is the first human/Viltrumite hybrid. Nolan believed that he would just out live Mark and Debbie and then take over Earth later. But Mark getting his powers squashed all that. Remember in episode 1 Mark said "I got my powers." Nolan said..."Are you sure?"
The normal shock reaction to the "pet" line is funny to me. Do you not love your pets like family? Surely you understand he's just trying to explain the gaps in their lifespans.
So you are putting all your eggs on Mark? 😏😏 SUS. A lot of your predictions are correct! And without spoilers let me tell you guys next season still keeps the Momentum going! It's already confirmed that season 3 is gonna be a BANGER. But season two is GREAT Aswell So no worries! This show keeps getting good!
It's a pretty long show but I would recommend Castlevania to you two. Disclaimer it is also very gory and there are some scenes you probably can't watch on the channel.
Also from Omni man’s perspective, it doesn’t matter how bad he beats mark if he doesn’t kill him then he’ll fully heal. So it makes little difference if back hands him once or beats him half to death. Still messed up though
"We love universal healthcare" Lady, if you think the people pitching that in our world are much better than viltrumites I'm rather shocked. Or at least I wish I could be.
We have a couple ideas but are gonna finish invincible first. The Legend of Vox Machina next season is coming out soon, and there is a whole new season of anime starting as well. A returning show that we are super interested in posting is Blue Lock. We are caught up on the Anime and the next season comes out pretty soon ( we love the show). So those are the 2 on our radar right now!!
The Amber hate needs to end, she was absolutely valid in her feelings. Eve said it, and William said it. her knowing Mark's identity was never the issue, "stringing her along" as Eve put it, was the issue! constantly lying to her and leading her on. getting his cake and eating it too (getting to have a girlfriend while continuously lying to her, knowing it's making her crazy), when if it was the case that he trusted her, he could've told her. which is what the writers said they were trying to portray.
