Backstory for Hook.- He was a lost boy that decided to grow up, Peter Pan hates him for choosing adulthood over Neverland. Hook now tries to stop Peter from kidnapping children away from their parents to become lost boys. Hook is not the Villian...Peter is.

Hook is not a villain. He's trapped on this island with kids who hate him just because he's an adult. It's Peter Pan's fault that he lost his hand. And don't forget that Peter is kidnapping children, and Hook is just trying to stop him. Peter is the villain in the story.

Darth Vader was manipulated by palpatine to join the dark side and used his anger against him to essentially control him. He is 100 percent a victim if there ever was one

cant believe they didnt mention that anakin was trying to save his wife from dying because he had seen glimpses from the future of her dying, through the force, palpatine took advantage of that to manipulate him. made him think the jedi would never help anakin . even lead anakin to believe that if he used the dark side he could amass enough power to stop death. he was a victim of manipulation, lies and his love for padme being taken advantage of.

but he was ultimately manipulated into that choice! when in anger he took revenge against the sandpeople, he came to know remorse and regret. you see this is why Jedi are trained at a super young age, it is easy for a teen to lose their head and act differently than they are as a person. and Sidious knew this well, he capitalized on it.@@Denis-89

Vader was literally TURNED to the dark side, you can’t be a villain in a villain/victim conversation if you’re TURNED evil and groomed to be the next heir of the Sith by the SithLord himself while you’re going through difficult decision making and training at a young age. When it comes to Maleficent……her back story was a revision that Disney wrote to make more money. In the original literature, she was basically an “Evil” Fairy Godmother. She is definitely not a a victim. Sorry, had to vent on that one 😂😂😂😂

ok, Hook was BY FAR a victim! In the original story the roles are reversed; Pan is a villain who kidnaps children, slaughters them when they grow "too old" and has a weird fetish for fairies, going so far as to spy on Tinkerbell while she's getting it on. Hook on the other hand was one of few lost boys who escaped and actively tries to save older lost boys from Pan (while yes they do become part of his crew, I'd argue it's still far better than death) and Pan cut his hand off and fed it to the crock because he thought it would be funny!

My guys think Vader is a villain when he has the most reason to be called a victim..... He was a victim of politics, of his life growing up, the Jedi Council, and the emperor..... I guess if you haven't seen the movies... Let me know how you all would fair if you were literally pulled at by opposing sides your entire life as a TEENAGER when you're the most vulnerable to being manipulated.... Not to mention your mom dies when you're like 14 or 15? Something like that.. Very weird... When you consider all the facts. Is Vader a villain? Yes. Is he also a victim of so much? Also yes. Seems they have to watch more Star wars if they think Anakin wanted anything bad to happen... Essentially all he did was for his love, but got met with "you're not ready" or "We can't fix this." and he got fed lies from Palpatine. Anyone that feels they can do a lot and not be given the chance will try anyways i think. In his case he saw his wife die in his dreams, and then hear that he CAN save her if he helps Palpatine and doing his biding. Yes killing the younglings etc. But it was all because he was decieved, Palpatine COULDN'T help him get the power he promised him. He's one of the greatest written villains in any history in modern cinema IMO because his motive to being bad is built up and later it vanished. Once he realizes his son is alive it strikes a nerve in him making him debate his future, later making the decition to give his future up for the better of his bloodline and the universe. Sorry for rambling.

I’m equally appalled as everyone here in the comments about Anakin/Darth Vader. Sure Sharon made a point that he was trying to get to being a great Jedi too quick. Yes he couldn’t control his anger and I think Qui Gon’s death and Obi Wan as a young teacher himself having to take over as Anakin’s teacher led to his destruction of himself. His relationship with Padmé was tragic and toxic, Palpatine 100% manipulated him to come to the dark side. Sure my knowledge is only based off of the movies but being based off of just that, Anakin was the victim who became the villain, Darth Vader. His story is literally every villain character arc in every story ever told about villains.

VICTIM! I saw Vader and I instantly went, Victim. Anakin started his training too old, meaning he knew of emotions and had felt them from he was very young. He was put in training in the Jedi-Academy where he was told to suppress them, that they were wrong, that they were the path to the dark side, and when he became a teenager, feeling things for Padmé, he had no one he could talk to, no father-figure to talk to about it. Obi-Wan was clearly not ready to be his Master, and did a terrible job at seeing Anakin's needs as his padawan. The Jedi, being as arrogant as they were, held him back because they thought he was the Chosen One. He was torn between following the Jedi-Code and following his emotions. In the end, he does fulfill the prophecy, but not during the 'golden age' of the Jedi, but rather as one last hope for redemption as Vader becomes Anakin again, because he sees he can come back from the dark and still be good, Luke Skywalker shows him that he can, and that's how he fulfills the prophecy. All of his choices, were guided by circumstance. Anakin did not become Vader out of malice, but out of love, and he was trapped in that rage for almost two decades, with a Master Sidious who couldn't care less about him... VICTIM.

In the original sleeping beauty, Maleficent is a straight villain and she's the absolute best. Her speech to Phillip mocking the entire concept of True Love is iconic, and I hate that they woobified her in the live action.

It is clear nun of you have ever watch Star Wars! Vader is 100% a Victim! If you have watched the movies there would be no question that he is a Victim. The jedi pushed him away and told him he could not have love. He was lied to by the dark side, that they could save the one he loved from dying! Emperor Palpatine was the real Villain he pushed Vader to do ever thing he did. He had Vader Brain washed. And in the end Vader bravely turned against the Emperor to save his son sacrificing his own life to do so. And in the process saved the whole galaxy and broad balance to the force. I mean even Yoda liked Anakin Skywalker in the afterlife. And for the idiots that don’t know Anakin Skywalker is Vader!

Flotsam and Jetsam are perfect names because they are things in the ocean... Flotsam is debris in the ocean that wasn't deliberately put there, such as floating debris from a ship wreck, or debris from a tropical storm or hurricane, so Flotsam would also include things like driftwood. Jetsam is debris in the ocean that was deliberately thrown in, usually from a vessel that's in distress or to lighten the load of a ship.

saying your the victim does not make being a villain any better it actually makes it worse when you take into account the individuals know how it feels and yet are more than ok with doing the same and in many cases worse to others like take the wizard of oz as an example I think what they don't take into account about the wizard of oz and how they all said the witch would be a victim....I would say the years and years of basic hell the witch put the people of oz through made her start looking at "victim" in the rearview a long time before she got put down like a rabid dog and the same can be said for every other villain in this clip.......victim to start villain to the core by the end and for some a bit of a redemption arc like in the case of Vader

Earth Vader is totally a victim. Comics, canon, legends, and lore aside, just from the movie itself, Palpatine manipulated and lied to anakin that he could keep Padme from dying, but the stipulation was turning to the dark side; but anakin turned to the dark side to save padme.

You can either be a product of your upbringing, or your environment, or you can learn to take responsibility for your own actions. Villains aren't always black and white, but it is their decisions and actions that define their character. For example, Thanos new he was a monster, but he truly believed what he was doing was for the good of the universe. The High Evolutionary didn't like the universe as it was and he wanted to change it to his vision of perfection.

For me Maleficient is both Villain and Victim, only because it depends on which version of Maleficent you refer to. If we're talking about Maleficent from the animated Sleeping Beauty than I'm with everyone who said she's a villain because at the time of making that movie she didn't have a backstory until the made the live action. Which is then where I would say she's actually the victim because of what Stefan did to her. Hurt people hurt people and that's what she did. She was hurt so she hurt others in order to ease her own pain

Annakin was a victim. The force created him to restore balance, after the Jedi threw the force out of balance by wiping out the Dark side. Did he ever really have a choice? Or was he always going to go bad because of the Jedi Order's actions? If they hadn't ruined the balance, would he have even existed? Notice that when the balance is thrown off, again, in favour of the dark side, he saves his Jedi son. Basically, the universe was using him for it's own ends, he was a pawn.
