Your kind of videos are the kind i like best….unlike so many who plan out videos and have some kind of gimmick to get viewers to watch…you guys just do what you would do if there was no camera. I love it, because i love to see and learn how other people from all over the world live. I grew up in the country, in West Virginia (putnam county), with both my grandparents having farms with cattle and gardens. It was such a great way to grow up. Watching your channel and seeing your kids work, play, and laugh..takes me back to many wonderful memories.

I grow a LOT of sweet potatoes and two years ago, I started growing my sweet potatoes in a dedicated plot and about two weeks before harvest, I surround it with electric netting and turn about five goats out there. All I give them for two weeks is water. They clear that patch and I just have to dig. I have no fight with vines. They eat them right down to the stems. So Andy you are almost on point. Cows too big; goats just right. 👍🏽

Then when we need some for pies we already have them ready just need to thaw them out. And the canned ones we use for sliced sweet potato cobblers Sure enjoy y’all. Y’all do so much just like we do.

Beautiful harvest! My husband's aunt made her sweet potatoes for Thanksgiving in a cast iron skillet. Gently boiled, then the butter, brown sugar, and a few shakes of black pepper. Really good! Got my few slips out late with vines climbing up into tomato cages (per Flutey Lick), so several more weeks to go. Perfect for a little garden!

We slice the big ones into rounds, fry them and put brown sugar on top to melt in while the bottom is browning. About 1' thick. Any left over get made into gnocci (add flour and spices of your choice to make a dough, make ropes then cut about 1", then boil...when they come to the top, they're done. Good with butter.)

Congratulations on your great sweet potato crop! I love Beauregard and planted just one 4’x8’ bed this year that netted close to 40 pounds. Some of them were HUGE but most were good baking size. Considering I’m the only one in our house who eats them, that will be plenty! Mine were ready about 6 weeks ago +/-, and after I removed the vines, I left the bed until I could get back to it. Well, next thing you know, I have tons of sweet potato vines coming up in that bed. I’d say that I obviously missed a few potatoes. I’m going to dig them out before our first frost. They won’t have a full 100 days to grow but who knows….there could be some good edible Beauregards under there!

Ya'll, those were some beautiful sweet potatoes! Have you ever made a sweet potato sonker? Andy had a great idea about making sweet potato fried pies 😊 I believe that yellow tomato is the variety called garden peach; the skin on them is not slick like a regular tomato but almost like a peach, hence the name. We've grown them several seasons. Another great video with ya'll and the kiddos. Love ya'll ❤

Canned sweet potatoes are awesome. I just cut them up like I would white potatoes and can in quart jars. Every time I make spaghetti, hamburger helper or veggie soup I add a quart jar of the sweet potatoes. They are so soft after pressure canning that they fall apart when you add them to sauce or soup. You gain all the health benefits but never know sweet potatoes are in there and you can't taste them either. Yes you most certainly can make your hand pies from canned sweet potatoes.

I plant slips in my garden really just for fun . It really doesn’t matter if I get some or not because I’m Blessed to have across the woods is the Daw farm . And they plant many fields of sweet potatoes here in Wayne county NC . And after they get what they want we can pick for days . I have boxes full to last me all winter. One thing I did fine in my greenhouse I planted two potatoes for slips last year . I got plenty of slips and just left the rest . Danny on Deep South said you will not get sweet potatoes by planting a sweet potato to grow slips from . Will I did two potatoes gave me around 6 or 8 sweet potatoes. And one was larger than the one you guys picked . I was amazed to fine them hiding under the soil. And after I got my slips I didn’t water them any more . So sweet potatoes are the hardest plant I know.
