Since this video got relatively popular, I feel like I've got to share a backstage story of the characters. Ar-Baruk wasn't a traitor. He was a true loyal servant of the Dark Lord and the strongest warchief in this fort. But Norsko the overlord... he was a traitor and a scum working for the ranger. Overlord ordered to capture good loyal Ar-Baruk and killed him to undermine his own fort's defence and to ensure that the ranger's siege of his fort would be just a cakewalk. Also, he needed to make sure, it would look like he was just purging spies, otherwise his own orcs would throw him out of the tower for treachery. Ar-Baruk was the only one who could defeat Ronk Head-Chopper in combat, but he was cowardly backstabbed by his own commander. So, the attack happened. All warchiefs and their bodyguards were butchered by Ronk and the overlord was beaten in a sort of a staged fight in the throne room. Norsko yielded the fort making it look like defeat. Later he was recruited to the Bright Lord's army. This story tells how bravest of heroes sometmes are defenceless against malicious schemers.
@@Senok13you can’t have an overlord as a spy in a fortress, it’s literally impossible, you can have his bodyguards and war chiefs be spies but not the overlord so either he made up a fake story for fun or he’s just trying to bullshit people into believing him
There was one time where I had made every war-chief and overlord bodyguard a spy, except one. Then when I go to attack the warlord steps out talking abt how he caught my one “spy”…poor dude killed the only orc in that castle still loyal to him
That's actually quite realistic. If everyone else is a spy they will naturally have a huge advantage when it comes on shifting the blame on the one loyal guy and keep each other from being discovered.
I love how that intimidating speech becomes completely invalid, Once you realized, he just killed one of his own dudes for absolutely, no legitimate reason.
@@matthewyeldig4608 Touché, but it is interesting how Orcs/Ologs who are ‘caught’, spy or not, tend to survive. I mean it’s not like I can’t see it, but do they always survive?
@@matthewyeldig4608 5 story fall is actually mild inconvinence while cut in the neck isn't even noticable. I had the guy survive being cut in half. Worse, when he showed up again, and named him self the machine, I found out what fear is. The orc already was beyond my level and I was barely able to kill him the first time. Like some of them survive the weirdest shit. One orc just kept coming back so much, I knew not what to do. The man litterally stalked me to another region. I killed him multiple times, had wasps kill him, had animals kill him, I freaking mind broke him. Why he didn't end up as my mortal nemesis in necro orc arc, I have no idea.
My favorite moment . I had captured all the captains of the fort. Except for one. Decided to go in cause "F-it" It says he caught a spy. I prepare for the inevitable feeling of losing a guy... The guy killed the only loyal guy in the whole fort... I died laughing.
Norsko: "Enough! Drop your weapons or I kill the man!" Talion: "Well, kill him. He's not our man." Ronk: "Wait. If he's not with you, and he's not with us, who's he with?" **Suddenly, an army of Uruks and Ologs from the Outlaw tribe appear on the horizon** Captain: NO ONE EXPECTS THE OUTLAW INQUISITION!
I can imagine and Uruk and Olog in the back just snickering and chuckling in the back. "Do we tell 'em?: "No, let them think they are smart. Besides it is funny, no?" "You're right, you're right. Just wanted to see the look on their faces when they find that out"
This is a legit moment where you apply one of the more memetic bits of Sun Tzu: Don't interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake. Even if they did protest they could still read as a bluff call or this was a very high risk spy that would get no diplomatic protection if caught.
I had this happen once, but it was so much funnier because I had put spies for all of his war chiefs, yet he managed to get the wrong guy and killed one of his own
Absolutely epic. Never had such instance in my play. The fact that devs thought "people have been wrongfully accused of being a spy throughout history" is absolutely epic...
@@AidenR19We can thank the bad rep with the microtransactions at the launch of this game. Would've been far more positively received otherwise as it's more fun.
This happened to me once and one time I made all his war chief spies, and he didn’t notice, so I literally just walked in, and I have to start over a 3rd time so I’m taking a really long break from the game
"hang on a minute, we didnt have a spy head" the lads in the background getting hype over the fact their adversaries are fuckin stupid and killed their own guy
The full circle for this arc is for Norsko Hot Tongs to return, "You left me to die gravewalker, after I bled for ya, now all of Mordor will know of yer treachery!"
I know you are likely joking, but it's a gameplay feature to prevent the confusion for the player, in game reality, I'm sure, the colorscheme of the armor plates remains the same ☝🤓
@@GlebOrwell In reality, the Uruks would not even use these orange colors that mark enemies. There are certain war paints that Uruks and Ologs use (namely purple, red, white, yellow and maybe green) but they would not mark their armor all orange
I remember the first time this happened to me thinking what a weird glitch, I didn't have a spy in this fortress. Then my commander said the same thing, blew my mind what a cool feature this is.
Too bad, it's patented. So no, new games can't implement a system designed even just a little bit like nemesis, unless they want to risk getting sued. Still dunno about the nitty gritty about the patents, so if anyone knows, feel free to correct me. At least, from what I know, 2035 is when the patent is done.
Tech like that could help elevate videogames but instead WB wants to not only lock it away behind copyrights, but doesn't even use it! @@iamguavafruitjr.8458
@maltheri9833 I think they got it at 2021? They lost about 6 years, so 2035 or later is when the nemesis system can be replicated without fear for being sued by big daddy WB. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Ronk was way to confused he stopped yelling like a typical terror berserker or any uruk-olog commander, like he actually became a composed, human barely bloodthirsty soldier just from watching such a weird demostration of paranoia
Nemesis system in other games is a one thing.....but so far there hasn't been a proper open world RPG set in Lotr world yet!!!? I mean the Lord of the Rings has ENORMOUS potential for video games and one would think that an in depth, open world sandbox with living breathing world would be dream come true! :) A Lotr game in style of....Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Gothic, even Witcher 3 (that would be best approach do a game with similar passion and love for it's source material...(while the Shadow of Mordor/War game may have enjoyable gameplay but they know or care little about the world, source material and lore and story most importantly), we need first a proper canon compliant lore friendly game of high quality a good single player experience that would allow to live this world....even in similar vein to Hogwarts Legacy and how it approached it's source material Harry Potter :)...hell these days all franchises seem to get their proper open world games, Star Wars will get SW Outlaws game, even freakin Avatar got it with Frontiers of Pandora....but Tolkien's Middle-earth?! Lord of the Rings nor Hobbit setting hasn't been given enough , there was no game which would give justice to this rich world and be a good immersive RPG!!! Hell...if necessary one could do a sandbox in style of....Red Dead Redemption 2 set in Middle-earth....it would be amazing hehe (especially the mechanics of hunting and camping ;) would suit well wiht Middle-earth...well one thing no firearms only swords nad bows and crossbows and whatnot but hey it can be done well hehe)...or...even use this Assassin's Creed formula that this game used....but modelling on later AC titles....this way one could make a lotr game in style of.....AC Black Flag mixed with Origins and Odyssey...with naval combat, sailing in vast open world on the Great Sea Belegaer, sea battles wiht ships of Corsairs of Umbar in real time and exploring the lands and kingdoms of Middle-earth..........anything can be possible
I just love that the developers added the possibility for the Overlord to randomly execute some random Uruk. Like the player had nothing to do with the situation at all, they were as surprised as anyone else.
I had this happen to me recently when I was playing SoW. So I was reclaiming the fort and all that, when the overlord comes out. He's got his warchief just sitting there, saying how he was a bad spy, before killing him off. One of my orcs was like "Impressive. It's good that he wasn't ours". The whole thing had me shocked, but it was funny af.
This game is so good, it's insane. There are so many characters with completely different personalities and not counting all of the events and voice lines... This game is truly a masterpiece.
