I feel that the problem is trying to show your opinion as fact when Music is probably the most subjective thing ever. Its opinionated, so everyone thinks different even if they hide it My favourite and greatest rapper of all time is Drake. I'll admit it. Throw your rotten tomatoes at me now im waiting. But I really don't care because it's my opinion. Drake was the music I grew up and got into rap in. I have invaluable memories with his music which makes all his music just sound better to me, as well as me just straight up thinking he's an elite rapper You can say that your favourite rapper is Yuno Miles, and as long as you don't portray it as set-in-stone fact, then who cares really? The hivemind of rap fans is a cancer who flip flop on every artist every chance they get. Remember when mfs was proclaiming Lil Baby as the goat after his Every Chance We Get feature? Yeah where are those people now? Rap fans are too comfortable with following the crowd and it's sad Also 2024, MUSIC, SEEYUH 🥴😫😝🥵
Hip hop fans are so toxic. J. Cole’s been praised as a top artist for decades and all of a sudden people turn on him for having a rough couple of months
@@Astranitax definitely. But now cause of 2 bumpy months of music, people now pretend like they weren’t bumping his stuff literally just a few months ago
@@TheReeelBradPitt I think it'd because they **were** bumping his stuff that adds insult to injury. And he was releasing a lot of music to very mixed reception for like almost a year now.
True ngl. Drake is my second favourite besides Kanye West . When I listen to his Albums it's like he flows on the beat so well like he entertaining his fans through music. He's versatility is impressive. He can make a great hook, verse, punchline whatever and he can do it in any genre too. (Please don't call me a meatrider I prefer drake over Kendrick music wise not rap wise tho)
"You can't call that person garbage just because you don't like their music (taste)" *Not even five minutes later, criticizing Fanta-man for his taste in music.* IDK, that was funny 😂
I think you're very right when you say "people are trying too hard to be different". And that's a problem because, naturally, everyone IS different. But instead of exploring themselves and expressing their natural individuality, they try to force this artificial individuality. Music is supposed to be expressive of who you are, not the other way around. But hey idrk anything, thats just my opinion. Btw nice vid and awesome animation, keep it up my guy!
umm yeah its kinda fucked up when i see half the music i listen to is bastard era goblin era tyler the creator mixed with kanye west nirvana MF DOOM and gorillaz so yeah......im mentally weird but thats cool cuz at least i know my weird ass tastes and love em
i've seen other comments saying what i wanted to say. but i'll add along anyway. i LOVE getting into some out there shit, not cause i wanted to be different (i'm no longer a teenager anymore), but i like trying new things that i could possibly recommend to friends. to claim high and mighty of your music taste over others isn't gonna make a conversation. i would argue that "good" music has become even more subjective is because of the internet. we no longer have to stick to whatever the charts say, radio and tv influence is kinda dead. but ye, all in all, it's not bad to share what you like or dislike about an artist, just don't be rude. unless the artist did some fucked up shit, then it's fair game ngl.
I disagree with the keep your opinion to yourself thing to some extent. As much as someone can like something others can dislike the same thing as well. No opinion is wrong and everyone can voice their opinion. Just form your opinion thats your truth...
OK, I personally don’t see an issue with being critical about art. You can enjoy something and be critical about it at the same time not every piece of music is perfect and you can see issues with it based off the way that music works to begin with, for example if I told you, my pal foot foot was the best song ever and you went to listen to it right now, you would have opinions not only about me and my music taste, but you would think that I’m unqualified to say what I have to say. I believe that music along with art in general is very subjective and we can’t really say that something is good and we can’t really say that something is bad but sometimes we really really can say that something is bad. I personally believe that there is such thing as bad art and I’m not talking about that banana that was duct tape to a wall, that was actually pretty decent. I’m talking about like a drawing of a person that’s completely out of proportion think a shitty tattoo portrait. I think people have the right to have opinions about music. It’s what makes it interesting. Now, as it goes for Anthony Fantano, he is literally one music critic out of many there’s also Brad taste in music, but I didn’t see you talking about him I don’t always agree with either of these examples that I provided but I appreciate their insight even if I think they’re 100% incorrect same thing with a dose of Buckley when he does his musical autopsies and worst song of the years. Having opinions and conversations about music is what makes listening to music fun and I’m not talking about just calling an artist trash and walking away. I’m actually talking about genuinely taking apart and criticizing what it is that they’re doing on what song it is or what album, what EP.
disagree with the fantano take, i don't feel like he represents his opinion as fact in the annoying way that a lot of people do, especially given that his description always includes the "Y'all know this is just my opinion" thing. I also find I agree and disagree with enough of his takes on albums I've listened to and listened to his reviews on to say that, I promise I'm not one of those fans that's just taking his opinion as my own. but it's fine if that's your opinion, because as you've expressed, it's your opinion, a subjective truth, not an objective world-ending truth that is a life and death matter that we need to agree on. i think on top of people trying too hard to be different, we also have the democratization of having a platform that comes with access to the internet. Thanks to the Internet, virtually (lol) anyone can share an opinion and find other people who share that opinion, and grow a following and platform of people who share their opinions. This can lead to a psychological phenomenon known as group polarization which is defined as Very Well Mind as "[the phenomenon] in which the beliefs, attitudes, and decisions of groups tend to be more amplified or more extreme than those held by individual group members." To frame it in a different way, basically, being in an echochamber will strengthen the beliefs being echoed around; being around people who only ever agree with you and never disagree with you will lead you to believing your opinions more, thus leading you to perceive them as truth more. This happened before the Internet obviously, but I think the Internet is a tool that allows it to happen even more, which is what I mean by "democratization of having a platform" and all that. The common man can find other common men who agree with him and believe his opinion like it is THE objective truth, when in reality it is just an opinion. also we live in an age where people disregard objective truth to favor their opinions and emotions in general and generally view their opinions as truth, hence the saying "that's just my truth." people disagree on what the truth is and what are objective and subjective truths and elevate subjective truths like opinions to have the status of objectivity, which I think is because people know that objective truths are meaningful and are what matter, and people want to feel like their opinions matter because they don't know what does and acknowledging the meaninglessness of one's opinions can feel very hopeless and stifling and also boring. tldr; echo chambers are bad and the Internet enables people to create more of them; people ignore what the truth is, confuse objectivity and subjectivity, and try to make their opinions and feelings life-and-death meaningful to others because at the end of the day it's a thing in human nature to crave meaning.
it's kinda funny because I think the Internet could also be a great tool against group polarization, as while granting access to people of the same opinions, it also grants access to people of different opinions and objective information that counteracts some opinions. This was not as easy of a privilege that people had before it. But that's why I think it's a human nature thing; even when given the opportunity to change beliefs and grow in knowledge of different perspectives, people favor that sensation of belonging with others and also favor thinking that they are right, thus echo chambers still exist, because the easiest way to feel like you belong to a group and to feel like you are right is to be around people who only agree with you and echo that same belief as you.
that youtuber example doesn’t work. i just always hated drake. no beef started my hate. drake was always annoying and a culture vulture. and his music is shit.
I do think this is true, because the other day I saw Billboard post a "the best songs of 2024" list on their instagram and some songs on there are mediocre at best. It should've just been called "The most popular songs of 2024". Also, I just wished there were people who explored and found what music they liked, rather than listening to the todays top hits.
Why should fantano not be allowed to express his opinions? I really dont get these people who keep talking about how music is subjective and how everyone should be allowed to listen to what they want, but then get all mad when someone has opinions they personally dont agree with and even go as far to say that they shouldn’t be allowed to express them
mfs need to realise that game music is real music too. Listen to the risk of rain 2 ost, ultrakill ost, even the pizza tower ost if you're feeling a bit sillier. IT'S SUCH GOOD STUFF AND I HATE THAT I GOTTA FEEL WEIRD FOR LISTENING TO THAT SHIT
Really the only bad artists are the 2slimey/LilKris/YunoMiles group (at least Lil Kris & Yuno Miles are satire but still), music is the most subjective shit ever tho. We should just like what we like. Really the only problem I have with recent music opinions is the standard for underground artists is going up more than ever while also making ppl like 2slimey/nettspend popular. Just sucks. But yea people needa suck it up for real, great vid.

And I say all of this as an artist myself, I don’t mind people being critical of art especially mine. I want people to have opinions and express their opinions even if all they have to say is that the music that I make is trash, I’m gonna take what they have to say with the grain of salt anyways, so it doesn’t matter. Like I get it, shut up and enjoy the music, right ? But what if I want to talk about it or what if I don’t like it and I want to say something I have the right to do that (I’m not talking about when someone is playing on the AUX that’s just rude besides, I like most music anyways I listen to everything)
