I let my 2016 F150 tell me when to change the oil. I sent it to Blackstone for oil analysis. They tell me I have 2 to 3000 more miles in my oil. So I’m just gonna stick with my dashboard reminder. Oil changes range from 6000 to 9000 miles. It always depends on what kind of driving conditions.
If you ran it consistently then i would expect the oil to be decent. Everything warm and upbto temp. No cold starts. Nonchance forboil contamination. The most ideal situation
This was a long oil change and extremely hard used for those miles. The readings we got are actually amazing for the age and beating we put on it for a month straight. This was a test to see if the mods we have contribute to engine wear.
The average was based on 8200 miles we did 11.5k so the few PPM increases are negligible. Oil changes are not cheap in a truck that requires gallons of oil not quarts 😂
Terrible advice for modern oils and vehicles those “good” mechanics haven’t been trained properly in today’s lubricants. Oil is only changed for a few reasons: Contaminants / water Hence why we test oils now…..I have done MANY samples on OTR trucks and cars todays oil is far superior than the old Dino stuff
5 k is probably good for stop and go traffic consumers in extreme type driving situations…..this will be in your owners manual also……….but at 3k you just throwing money away. But if 3-5k makes you happy then so be it 🍻
What does that have to do with my oil analysis and what run in my truck….271k running better than a 2024…..just trying to make sense of your comments…….
Interesting, I know from some of my past work off shore (oil and gas and merchant shipping) that we never really change the oil. We took samples and would adjust the additives as needed. The base oil never really wears out. We changed filters at regular intervals, and only changed the base oil if we encountered dilution mainly fuel, sometimes coolant. Are using a synthetic oil? What brand if you don't mind saying.
Yes very, I have pulled many samples as well in a former life….lol…same if the additives were low we added and retested in a few thousand miles…..air craft total different animal we tested the hydraulic oil bi annual and only changed if contamination was detected. Walmart Rotella I think T5 15w40 OEM Dodge oil filter (5m) I think Amsoil bypass filter as well (2m absolute)
