We're talking about the real deal - the kind you find in local homes, not tourist shops. We spent time with a local family, learning their traditional methods of preparing Berbere. It was a hands-on experience that was totally eye-opening! We even got to help grind the spices, which was surprisingly therapeutic. We tried everything from Shiro, a savory chickpea stew, to injera, the spongy flatbread that's a staple in Ethiopian cuisine. After that, we hit the Shola market to find even more spice goodness.
