My father once had such a Passat. And I remember that we had to go up a hill when we were on a winter sports holiday. He had only just gotten the car and had put the snow chains on the rear wheels. After a lot of hassle he found out that it was a front wheel drive car. I will never forget that moment. So I'm pretty sure it must be front wheel drive.

Did a plate check on the Passat cuz i love old VWs It was last taxed in 1st of April 1996 so its been there for a bit. Poor thing, i would love to bring that back to life!

Yes indeed, I do the same thing, If there’s a car I am interested in, I look it up on the DVLA website enter the registration plate, and see what information there is still available. Date first registered, date MOT expired and MOT history. Interesting.

Passats are front wheel drive with longitudinal engines like old audis. Probably a 1.8 or 2.0. Good cars

Could be a syncro also. It's made on the Audi 80 b2 platform. The one in this video is pre facelift one, so between 1981 and 1985. With a 1.8l carburator engine, fwd.

Hired a Passat in 1985, drove brilliant. Good motorway car. VW just don’t make bullet proof cars like they used to.

As much as I love these videos it really does bang home you cannot take anything with you when you die! This whole place was a hive of activity once. That Atkinson truck appears to have been really cared for at one point in its life. If only objects could talk, the stories that would come out would be amazing.

What a fascinating explore. I used to have an Austin Maestro van. A great workhorse. It’s such a shame to see these old classics rotting away, forgotten and unloved. The old Atkinson lorry should be saved as should some of these other old vehicles.So sad to hear about Stokze’s dog Lola, his companion on many an explore. RIP

What a cool mixture of buildings, sheds and vehicles! Cars, trucks, tractors, inside and out. What an adventure to discover that site. Much more than an car graveyard. I loved the Atkinson Truck and the big barn full of stuff, with Tractor and metro. And the Passat of course, a common family car in the 80s, now cult. There is still a Variant driving around in our town. Passats were front wheel drive. I guess that late in that model, they intruduced 4WD. These had the Name syncro added to the type label.

Folks, just in case you haven't heard, Imstokze lost his beloved Lola the jack Russell Terrier, his costar in many of his videos, in an accident with a car. I am sure he will appreciate a few kind words as he is understandably heartbroken.

Fascinating stuff guys, lots of really nice oldies. The two lorries that are outside are,at a quess, 40s or 50s. The cabs were often built of wood.

The Rover Metro outside the house had its last MOT expire in 2010 so I would assume that's around the time the place was left abandoned. The Spitfire was last taxed in 1998.

The Metro in the barn is an oddball. Poverty spec recessed headlight yet has a tachometer. Also, Princess Diana had one of those.

The silver Passat is front wheel drive. In the USA it was called the VW Quantum. They were available as a Synchro(4 wheel drive). Also the Synchro only came with an Audi 5 cylinder engine. This car that you found is a 4 cylinder.

Passat is front wheel drive, same platform as the audi 80 b2 at the time. Some Passats had the Audi 5 pot motor that was in the Audi 90 which used the same platform.

I had that Passat (1982) with a 5 cylinder Audi engine. Great car, great engine. After 13 years still no rust at all. Sold it then to my regret.

Passats are Front wheel drive, just with a longitudal mounted engine, even the recent ones are the same, and the audi a4, And Im pretty sure Seddon Atkinson trucks where made in Oldham on Shaw road.

The Passat is front wheel drive! I think they made them with a longitudinal engine until at least B6. I’m not sure on the later ones though.

Don't know about it being an "All wheel drive " , not 4wd. But it's definitely a rear wheel drive. On the console or dash, it will have an indicator or leaver, or even a 2nd gear stick for AWD selection, unless it's permanent AWD. Hope it helps 👍👍🇭🇲🇬🇧🍺

The bearded explorer, If on your travels you should spot a Mark one Vauxhall Cavalier, especially The two door saloon, please film it, as today in 2021 these cars are as rare as hens teeth.

@thebeardedexplorer considering that tractor with the bush hog on it looks like it was used yesterday and considering that a lot of the pathways look like they were mowed fairly recently I would imagine that the tractor was used to do it. You might consider turning the key on and seeing if the battery is up should you return just so you would know if someone is frequenting the property.

The Metro in the barn is one of the launch cars. It would have originaly had cream front seats.

Agreed, I had a blue Austin mini metro 1.0L it was blue, with cream seats and the same white coach lines and hub caps as that one has my reg no was RTY952Y and the garage name on the number plate was Dutton forshaw, amazing what you remember as I was 19 when I owned it and I'm 48 now 😂

Had a D Reg of that body shape Passat. Mine was the GL5. Straight 5. FWD. awesome power through the first three gears. The motor in mine was a 2L. But the same in-line 5 was bored out to 2.3 and used in a lot of Audis of the era. Great car.

Looks like a Passat CL. 1.8, front wheel drive with longitudinal engine. Very similar to Audi 80 of same Era. Passenger seat is from a 85 onwards Golf GTI

The chap who used to live there and who is most likely deceased now was obviously a lorry enthusiast. The lorries and piled up parts outside were certainly donors for the ones inside. You really should have squeezed inside to take a closer look at them. The orange Borderer looks almost like a little cleaning, batteries and fresh diesel would make the old girl go again. I wonder if the green one with the funky rear wings could be an Atkinson Venturer. Just imagine the proud owner attending shows with them. Either the grey tractor or the Maestro van in the shop that was locked was probably the last project he was working on. The boy racer Fiesta was probably his son's first car. If so the question remains why he doesn't take care of his dad's pride and joy.

The two 8 wheeler lorries you asked about I think they are both Atkinson`s dating from the 1950`s these were most likely bought as donor vehicles for other resto prodjects

I thought they were jennings cabbed E R Fs , difficult to say without inspection, both engines missing, most likely Gardner 120s, David brown or fuller gearboxes, rockfall axles

B2 Passat,had the GL5 wagon with alloys and chrome roof rails back in 1991.

No it's a front wheel drive . They have a transaxle box like a f1 or an old beetle but in the front same as audi a4,a5 you said it audi.

That passenger seat in the Passat is from an early (85) Mk2 golf Gti interior Typ 19 as they are referred to, the 84 Mk2 Gti had a similar interior but more stripes and different colours Ps None one the volkswagens apart from air cooled are rear wheel drive 🤣
