Such a beautiful print and the original Vitaphone sound. Marvelous restoration. Thnaks for posting.I enjoyed it immensely.

And I realize this is probably nitpicking, but these were not Vitaphone discs, strictly speaking. Vitaphone was the name of a similar sound-on-disc system used by Warner Brothers. The Hal Roach Studios used the Western Electric Sound System from Victor.

Amazing to see a silent film with a perfectly matching soundtrack -- music and effects. I'm so used to generic music that rarely fits the mood of any scene. Brilliant synchronization.

I have great respect for the actors who jump out of windows placed 6 meters above the ground at the end of the film. Creating such a scene without special effects must have been very physically demanding. These actors must have been excellent acrobats, and I'm sure they felt the pain after those jumps.

Great sound! Never seen this one of Laurel and Hardy. This is one of my new favorite silent Laurel and Hardy shorts.

Although this film was a silent comedy, you not only see the action, but on the soundtrack, you can hear the music and a few vocal effects as well.

I love how Stan slams a pie in that blokes face.

Actually, this has been released on DVD, but only in Germany. It's on the Kinowelt dvd of Die Wuestensohne (Sons of the Desert) as a bonus.

I've never seen "Victor Recording" listed on an M~G~M film from this period. I know they pressed most (if not all) Vitaphone discs. Popular songs I recognized were: "That's My Weakness Now;" (opening & closing) "Gimme a Little Kiss, Will Ya, Huh;" "It All Depends on You;" and "What'll I Do." Any others?

these music only programs just are not the same. I honestly cannot understand why they dont add sound. Surely if they can record the music and over lay it on the video, why can they just not record the audio in the exact same way and overlay it on the video
