Let me help you guys out with this resonance issue. What I’m about to tell you comes from experience with car audio and sub woofer boxes. To clear up or lower your resonance @ 100hz or so what you need is liquid fiberglass. Concrete does work as well, and is extreme in any case. This how this liquid fiberglass works let me explain. When you purchase liquid fiberglass it comes with liquid fiberglass resin and a liquid hardener. Mix the liquid fiberglass with the hardener per the instructions, remove the speakers from the box, and the objective is to apply liquid fiberglass resin on all inner sides. One side at a time. Once the speakers are removed lay them flat on the bottom sides first, it will take about two hours to cure after the bottoms are done take the speakers and stand them up right and do those two bottom services once they’re done lay speakers flat on their sides, And on and on until you have the box completely sealed you can apply as much liquid fiberglass as you want to get that deading effect. The more fiberglass you apply on all inner surfaces, the lower the box resonance will become, So in theory you could do this layering effect until you were happy with the resonance of the enclosure. The liquid fiberglass also acts as a great sealing medium. This is done in car audio to seal leakey sub boxes, and decrease resonance of buzzing sub boxes. Hope this helps. It’s cheap, effective and a little time consuming per the drying time for each inner side surface as you can’t do the “whole enclosure” in a single pour/pass. The ending results are amazing! This fiberglass method will work for any speaker enclosure. Concrete? Really? Y’all be trippin man. I enjoy y’all videos too!

I had an idea that I wanted to get your thoughts on. The concern I would have with using concrete is the sand particles coming loose and also of the concrete cracking over time. So I'm thinking I know of a material I think would work much better and wanted to get your thoughts. A few years ago I sound proofed my Chevy Avalanche doors, side panels with a sound proofing material made for that task called Dynamat. It's a kind of rubberized sheet with adhesive on one side and a thick foil on the other. You install it on the inside of door panels using a roller, fingers, wooden sticks, etc. It sticks very well, an d molds to all shapes and it worked fantastic on my truck. The advantage is that it can easily be cut with scissors, has no drying time. won't dry out or crack over time. and it works really well at dampening sound. You should buy some and repeat that experiment using it and see if it wouldn't work better. What are your thoughts?

Here's a thought for you: Seeing as you love your expensive ATC's. The Tannoy reveal Gold's. They featured heavily in the construction of the parent speakers and have a design that is VERY interesting. £200 quid each (so are well within the budget of newbies) and well, British. All the best.

@@PresentDayProduction I think comparing dual concentric based speakers to tweeter and woofer would be a good call here. Plus I think Tannoy are doing some interesting things for £200 quid a speaker. I would be interested in your opinion against the Adams. Ribbon, although very clear, could be faddish at this price point over - phase coherance. Which comes into play when you discuss the need to fill these with concrete and discuss missing certain frequencies. Also I see in your new video you are offering Mastering - having to do less alterations and suggesting to us Brits (and the rest of the world who support your British business) a speaker made in Britain with only the need for a sub (for those going into the lower frequencies in EDM) *could* be a great call - perhaps even a sponsorship deal? That's if you got them and rated them well...? Just ideas of course. But I remember back in the day, Tannoy speakers being favoured in "loudspeaker reference design" and they do appear in some very high end setups... Genelec being the others i notice who do "dual concentric" at 4 grand. haha!

@@PresentDayProduction I took them apart and the front baffle is a sad mess of resontant plastic. You know what?! I will do it! I love messing with audio gear.

It’s not really an issue - don’t fill your monitors with concrete!

I think the best solution is DO NOT TAP on the speakers and live with the stock sound... ...and perhaps invest in a more suitable cat bed.... I already hit the Ding Dong a long time ago, so I guess my Ding Dong has already shot its load. All the best, as always from the US... Phil NYC Area

@@PresentDayProduction They have been getting really good reviews, and the fact that they are a 3-Way Monitor at a great price point is a bonus. I do want to get one (or two or 10) of the Warm Audio Neve clones (w/EQ) also. (Maybe buy their API clone too). It never stops...

I’m a bit disappointed, as a lad 50 odd years ago a neighbor had five foot tall concrete cabinets with eight inch speakers in them. Reinforced floorboards as well.

My question is does Adams know of this issue and due to the cost, they don’t care ??
@PresentDayProduction
@PresentDayProduction Год назад
They care, but compromises have to be made to meet a target price sometimes. The new A7V which we’ve just got for review (video coming soon) has a super dense front baffle that’s as inert as a bin full of lead, but costs more!

@@PresentDayProduction I am really still debating between between the HS8's and the Adam's. Might just be me, but I feel the Adam's sound a little more open in the high's versus the HS8's that almost sound veiled... if that makes any sense.
