The thing with the Water of Life, in the women who take it and survive, it unlocks all the memories of all their ancestors. For Jessica, it means she now has all the memories of all the Bene Gesserit that came before her, all their knowledge, all their personalities. It also caused here baby to become fully aware while it was still in the womb, as well as giving it access to those same memories. When Paul drinks it, it gives him the power of foresight, in addition to those other things.

Good video, but I disagree with you on the fight scenes choreography - as someone who dabbled in fencing, I can tell you that this is what melee fights look like. They are quick and brutal, nowhere near the overly choreographed dancing nonsese a la Star Wars.

Yes there was a robot war, the Butlerian Jihad that happened about 10,000 years before the start of the story. Humanity created AI and it rebelled. The year is 10191 AG, After the creation of the Spacing guild in charge of all transportation. It's closer to 23,000 years from now.

5:31 Dune person here, literally I read the book in the late seventies and have loved it since. So this story takes part 20,000 years in the future the last robot war happened 10,000 years ago. They banned thinking machines so that it would never happen again.

@@di3486 bro, a GUI isnt a thinking machine in the extremes that the ban applies to. Think more neural networks and machine learning to the level of pseudo-sentience kind of things. Noone is banning simple things like heads up displays and communications equipment. The harkonnen guys wired into their war room display are likely (i guess) mentats making calculations for warmachines and such.

Not sure talking over nearly every moment second to second is quite the right recipe for a reaction for this one. It seems a tad over analysis-y, we'd much rather like to see your genuine reaction to the movie as an audience member, not a sports-commentator with a job. So much of this one is in the subtleties and vibes that i feel you missed alot of the nuance, for the sake of commentary, which was in some places incorrect, despite the movie being pretty clear to follow. There were a few moments you guys were going off a wrong assumption because of an earlier missed bit of information. Recommend giving this one another watch, for your own benefit, you'll get SO MUCH more detail out of it, i guarantee it. There's a balance of course, noone tunes in to watch two people sit watching quietly, but this is wayyyyy too far on the other extreme, in my opinion. Dig your other videos alot, only reason i feel compelled to offer this criticism this time round. All the best.

At the beginning of the first movie, the year 10191 was shown. This is not ten thousand years after Christ, but after the so called Butlerian Jihad. The Butlerian Jihad, also known as the Great Revolt, was the war against the AI. You meight heard of it. It is the reason why humans in the far future - which, from our perspective seen, is not the year 10k, but more like 20k - do not use any computers l, anylonger.

5.42 Yes there was a robot/human war called the "Butlreian Jihad" bought an end to AI and robots. In the Dune novels in the last novel set many thousands of years after the events portrayed in this film the robots and AI descendants of the surviving pre BJ robots and ai return for a rematch.
