Whew!! I'm so glad my boyfriend got me into watching Ramsey. I am 21, 3k in debt, making 30k a year and was thinking about buying a new car for the heck of it. Truly, I am so glad that I took my boyfriend's advice and started listening to Ramsey. I am currently working on baby step one and if all goes well I should have my debt paid off by the end of the year and have a cushion emergency fund. What a way to start 2019!! Thank you Dave ❤

It depends how long you are okay with delaying gratification - if I have 20k, and I could buy a car for 20k then I have 2 options: 1. Buy it now 2. Invest the 20k, buy it later If later is just 1 year later, and I can invest at 5% annually, and because I waited, I saved 1 year in registration/petrol/damages/etc, lets assume that all adds up to $900: In 1 year I will have a Car + $100 (5% on 20k) + $900 (running costs). That $1000 is like a life-time cash-flow compared to buying the car now, because I can invest that $1000 EVERY year forever until the day I die. In 30 years, that decision to wait 1 year will save me $1000 * (1.05)^30 = $4322. This is actually 21.6% of the car value for waiting just one year!

@0 views don't have to live by that logic to the letter. Point is want new tv. Buy what you can afford or wait and save until you can afford the tv you want. That pretty much applies to most basic things. The way I look at it is by paying cash you learn self control and also if you want into a store with $500 and walk out with $50 in your wallet is much different that putting 450 on your card.

TruthHurts no one is forced to marry that’s the point. If a guy doesn’t want to marry a girl then don’t ask her. Simple. Marriage is a HUGE commitment. I think one problem is people don’t understand that and end up with someone they won’t stay with for their entire lives.
@eclipsez0r
@eclipsez0r 6 лет назад

TruthHurts I get that we feel different on the subject. However, if a guy asks a girl to marry him then he should know what type of person he is marrying, same for women as well. People don’t take as much time to date anymore. It’s hard to make any relationship work in today’s fast paced, the grass is always greener on the other side, relationships are hard work.

I pay 50 a month for electricity, I am not sure why people are so driven to put solar panels on their roof! The cost to maintain them when they break, or you need a new roof is going to be more expensive then it would if you just kept paying the electric company!!!

@SugaryPhoenixxx

So long as *you* know the value of your car, people trying to barter you down does not affect anything. & most people take into account that private buyers will barter down, so the asking price is set higher to offset for that. Its the same technique dealers use. Just be smart.
