Did you catch the rest of what Sadeas said to Dalinar at their last conversation? He did say he wanted the power, but he also said you were turning into what gavilar was at the end. I think you keep ignoring the rest of that conversation. He mentioned several reasons for his betrayal and I felt like it wasn’t as inconsequential as you’re making it out to be.
The interludes for this book are meant to be there largely for world building and foreshadowing for future books, remember this is a 5+5 book series. The book has a lot of heavy lifting to do in terms of set up and foreshadowing. Secondly the Seth interlude is a throughline story. It eventually connects with the Taravangian reveal, plus Szeth is an important character so you have to show his journey too. So idk how you can say it has no consequence. Yeah the world is big and there's a lot of stuff going doesn't mean everything has to relate to you coz you aint the only person in this world. It's the same thing with the Highprinces. They are put there goofing off meanwhile world shaking events are happening and they have no idea.
30:13 wrong. A lot of fans have WoK as the favourite and the book came out more than 10 years ago and people have re-read it several times. So it can't really be recency bias
Prelude is to the stormlight archive as a whole not just for the wok ofcourse it's not connected to the prologue. The prologue and epilogue are similarly connected to the first half of the series. Not just for individual books. This stuff carries over into comkng books
Nerdy doesn't read blurbs because he doesn't want to know where the book is going. Also says he'd have put the book down if not for bookclub because he didn't know where it was going. k
The Alethi are east asian in their eyes, dutch in their height and middle eastern/indian in skin tone. Good luck casting that lol. And Shallan somehow manages to have red hair and freckles after all that. GG rip.
@@mndrew1 She is alethi by marriage now. But even without that, she is Veden, they are a closely linked ethnic group. She still has Asian eyes, despite the white skin, red hair and freckles. She isn't really short by earth standards, she just happens to be below average by alethi standards (i.e., compared to Jasnah or Navani).
@@mndrew1 no they are not Veden's aren't Unkalaki although some might have unkalaki blood. I will leave it at that ging further would be spoiler territory.
Szeth doesn't necessarily need to block. He can heal with stormlight. Plus, his surgebinding can allow him to deflect coins in the same kaladin was deflecting arrows.
Skill is how well you understand and employ you abilities. It's about how effective you can be given the limitations. Power (or power level) is brute strength of you magic like how many lashings you can use, how much stormlight you can hold/use at a given time, and how efficient you are woth it. Power level is about breaking limitations.
The problem I had with this book is that so many of the protagonists are Alethi; but the Alethi are no good people in general. They are conquerers and slavers. And at this point at least, the protagonists aren't out to oppose these things. Very hard to root for people I want to see as the baddies.
