We show you how to fit BC Racing ER series coilovers to your Holden Commodore VE SS Ute in part 2 of our series. Coilovers are an excellent suspension modification for your VE Commodore/Pontiac G8 as they improve handling, braking, grip and also enable you to adjust height and suspension settings to suit different driving conditions.
BC Racing ER series are a mid-market, track and performance oriented coilover and provide an external reservoir with heavy duty springs and dampening adjustments. This is part 2 of our series where we fit the front coilovers.

i have white line front and rear sway bars , as well as coil overs and a strut brace. Now the car drives with no body roll and its like driving on train tracks . Well worth the upgrade

One thing I hate is separate spring and shock/leaf spring setups on cars. You guys just convinced me on a VE ute for work.

Would you recommend these or a set of MCA Red series for $1000 more? I like the look of these and I don't think I'll ever do any track work. Or maybe Shockworks?

G'day mate, all depends on your budget and objective. For spirited daily driving, the BCs are well worth it. If you are building a track car, go straight to the reds.

wish you sked for help before buying BC Racing coilovers, if it's a dedicated track car it may be okay, but mine lasted around 30,000km's before 2 seized. went to a locally sourced coilover and haven't had an issue. but to be fair anything is going to be better that the beat on old stuff you had.

G'day Dan, sorry to hear about your experience with the BCs - what model did you have? Yes, ours are fitted to a dedicated track car and we will be lucky to do 1-2,000kms a year. They are a huge step up from a stock springs and shocks which were totally worn out.

I've been thinking about getting coilovers for my ute and do you guys think camber adjustable strut tops are a good idea? Not really going for a track style more a street style.

The MCA have an adjustable top mount but cost $3,500. You can run a couple of degrees of negative camber with the $1,500 BC coilovers. How much negative camber do you usually run?.

G'day Jono, I tend to agree with young Angry' response. You can also run camber bolts/washers as well to get extra camber. This should be plenty for street driving as you have mentioned.

Yes mate from memory we used the OEM lower washer. It has been a while since this video though so am testing my memory!

Thanks for the tips mate. We are looking into sway bars at the moment and have heard lots of conflicting advice so far on set-up stiffness. We will start doing some testing when and if Wakefield re-opens.

I am guessing they are both progressive rate springs that will work well if you have five adults in the car or tow a trailer. Not the best option for a track application

G'day Timmy, I think the lowered springs we had fitted to the ute were in fact Lovells. Let me double check tonight. As far as a spring goes, they were OK, but you really need to be thinking about the spring and shock combination as they work in tandem.

I know some blokes with a set of Lovell springs laying around that they aren't using.
