Being able to put your van details into that sat nav is a bonus, we have been sent down some really dodgy roads with google maps. Europe is a must mate there are so many amazing places to explore now you have the full set up. :D
Greg Virgoe , when I was working,,they used to give me MAPQUEST, they were 100% wrong, I once used a google map, which was incredibly incorrect, If I had NO idea where I was going, , they even had me going WRONG WAY, ON A ONE WAY STREET, ALL THIS CRAP MADE ME BUY MY 1ST GPS, now on my 4th generation TOM-TOM, NEVER EVER LET ME DOWN , BUT I ALWAYS DO A TEST DRIVE BEFORE I go, to avoid anything silly, Cheers from NJ USA
Years ago I installed an 8 channel mobile DVR along with micro flush mount cameras with different focal legnths. I managed to get a 360 degree view, with a very good resolution for reading license plates far away. I chose to installed IR lower to the ground facing up. This gave me a much better night vision and they turned when it got dark. Unfortunately my RV was stolen anyway. Next setup I have will include GPS tracking, separate battery system and remote camera access over 4G LTE.

Have you managed to update your maps on it? I have the smaller one too but the supplied link for updates didn't work due to the software being pirated. I did manage to manually update the maps but it was tricky. I think the maps originally supplied with mine were 2016.
Technology is awesome! I do however sometimes miss the fun of getting lost. We were traveling in the American southwest. We got lost and we ending up seeing some beautiful places that tourists don't normally see. We were young and thought it a great adventure. 🤗💖
We have done it!! bought a dog rough transit van a 2002 van for the princely sum of £700.00 , needs lots of welding and stuff but its a start. given myself a timescale of two years to get her up and ready but exciting times ahead I feel!!

Oh thanks, lots of work to do but looking forward to doing it just how we want it, getting to old for camping in a tent now lol. Wendy wasn't too happy when I bought it home but is now warming to it and can now see the potential even if it only lasts for another few years, its a start and my whippet Bob is all over it already lol. if he is happy so am I. I fitted that truck sat nav for towing my caravan and put the overall length and width and it's never let me down. You can also Bluetooth to it and use it as a hands free phone kit by tuning into an FM radio station or play your music via Bluetooth...excellent bit of kit. The cameras a good idea so thanks for the video.

cheers mate....I've had 2 of the import truck sat-navs and I only replaced the first one after deciding to move it to another spot on my dash, sat it down and then dropped it onto my toolbox and bursts the screen...it still worked nut its a plastic material and I somehow managed to de-laminate it......so lesson learned for me lol...I enjoyed your camp quirky video too....I've just retired last week and planning for the last 2 years to build a van but now wondering whether to go for standard van or low loader luton aaargh decision decisions...best wishes from sunny Isle of Bute

I always wondered why more people didn’t use that VW CRAFTER over the SPRINTER in my 13 years as an HGV/van driver I NEVER LIKED THE SPRINTER in just 18mths I put 144,000miles on an extra long wheelbase VW LT35 and NEVER had so much as a flat tire. You have a very nice camper there you lucky man SCOOBS UK.

some great advice there Dave. Love the cost of the truck satnav. I've found out with garmin, that it can't differentiate between whether the road, that is on the `quickest` route, is narrow or wide, especially travelling in rural areas. When you get louie a passport, then i highly suggest going to the north cape. The trip took us 3 weeks in total. you will be able to see the midnight sun when your in the arctic circle .The scandinavian and eastern european countries are superb. Love to Louie and Jo xxx

Good system,I fitted 4 cameras and monitor to my motorhome,bought separately from Amazon, I have 2 rear facing a reversing camera and rear view mirror and 2 forward facing on passenger side as kerb mirror and one giving view when driving on continental roads.also as you say a bit of comfort when parked up,my monitor also has remote control.On sat navs,as an ex lorry driver my first rule is never ever trust them! If the road looks always stop and check,learnt the hard way collecting fruit with 45ft freezer trailer in Spain and Italy,I find it useful if going to a new park up or town to check it out on google street view to get an idea of road conditions.cheers Paulo

My wife dreads the courier turning up our drive with something for the motorhome which I neglected to tell her I've bought!I bought the present one new,2 years ago and have added many "home comforts" to make it suit my needs.Solar panels,extra roof vents,lpg system,larger water tank,upgraded shower and pump,extra racks on back for kyack,windsurf gear and bikes,I'm sure I've missed something? but being retired gives me plenty of time to fettle,

I actually purchased 2 of the same CCTV setup's for owe 4X4 Overland truck there in Australia but have not fitted them as yet & after seeing your setup I am really looking forward to fitting them on, pronto. I honestly did not really expect the system to perform as brilliantly as what I have just watched, Fair Dinkum the night vision was what really impressed me mate, as you mentioned it was like daylight & good quality, just have to see what the use by date will be like for the system? Maybe cause water ingress from the door seal, could have gone through a cable gland like used for solar panels, I would use a ladder guard particularly abroad, also as a sat nav app I mainly use WAZE on iPhone and iPad very very good for live traffic information, by the way the best trick is load the map before you leave WiFi, with google maps if you prefer it you can download map areas and save them before you leave
Dave, sorry about the rattling problem. I was curious about that bothering you, it would me. Also sorry to see Louies Boo Boo paw again. I looked in my giant Louies owners manual and, chips and vanilla ice cream is the prescription for Boo Boo paws. I think that idea of you traveling around is fantastic.

Camper#1-My CCTV is great! I can see everything while laying down. It only cost me a few hundred quid. Only problem is it sometimes gives me technical glitches. Camper#2 I've got ears and they didn't cost me anything.

We have enough room for up to 200 people without having to get an event licence, we will be putting in at least one portaloo depending on numbers poss 2. There will also be a communal firepit / BBQ as the weather will be perfect? lol If anyone has a craft stall or wants to do a car boot sale kinda thing they are more than welcome to set up on site Also if anyone can play a musical instrument bring em along for a good old fashioned sing song / drumming session around the fire (please note I said anyone who can play an instrument so it doesn't really apply to you) lmao 😂😂😂😜😉😂 We are working out the cost of everything this week and will let you know asap cheers buddy if this one goes well will hopefully do a festival type thing next year

Just what i need as my stealth monster has NO windows, so I need to see bandits outside.......give me a chance to ‘lock ‘n load’ 😂 its only a water gun but hey 🤷🏼♂️ I’m gonna sub up! Dont have a Whippy only a huge rescue Greyhound! TIP: when using the nice glass hob as a workbench but a piece of scrap ply over it or even nonslip matting. That way if you drop anything onto the glass it wont go BIIIIISHHHHH into lots of bits....... I know! 😕
Very nice installation of your camera system. Would have been nice if the system had motion detection which can activate an alarm. currently I am searching for a system like that.
G’day Dave good fit those cameras I had them fitted to my 4WD and they are excellent I Had on them on the car for years and it went though snow, mud and water, you name it and nothing went wrong with them they are brilliant. Can I put my two cents in why don’t you change your wheels and tyres no offence they don’t look right for the van, I had to say it I hope it didn’t offend big hug for the little fellow kind regards to you three John👍📡🇦🇺

I used one of those 4 camera CCTV kits off eBay, wired cameras. Should make a video of it someday. 40 quid then 15 a camera so about the same, just did it that way as it was redundant in the junk box

Stytch in Time - Vanistory , REGUARDING THAT GPS, apparently it’s good for busses& Highway tractors & trailers, in the USA, there ARE KNUCKLEHEAD DRIVERS,,WHOM USE CAR,,UNITS & NOT TRUCK UNITS, so they run afoul, of headroom, & RESTRICED HEIGHT ROADWAYS, imagine having to reverse a MILE & a half, because they can not fit, too CHEAP,TO BUY THE PROPER TYPE GPS, Cheers from NJ USA

Using a standard DVR unit with four cameras (all on 12vdc), would give you auto switching and recording capabilities, with wi-fi monitoring. Use an SSD drive to avoid HDD shock being mobile repurposed.
@@onemanandhiswhippet Having a recording of your cameras, is essential when away from your prized possessions and van. Easy to lock away in a small cheap safe somewhere. costing around £20~£30 on ebay for a dvr box. Just a suggestion, thanks for the upload and reply.
Google maps is brilliant but it has yet to get the truck options on it etc But Google maps recognises brand new roads and roads that have no Road signs on them and it tells you their Road names whilst the road is still being built etc The biggest problem in the coming years for many will be not having their location known in a privacy conscious era etc
Nice cctv set up Dave, I went for the four wireless camera, and monitor kit from Haloview. Not yet fitted them as I'm still yet to mount my solar, I'm leaning towards a DIY made roof rack, basically consisting of aluminium bars, and solar brackets, then mounting my cameras to those, we'll see.

@@onemanandhiswhippet ..Not being disrespectful to you but when you sleep shit eat in a camper van there is a good chance people will hear you in the van unless It's super sound proofed . And the Windscreen with blinds pulled over is a real clue that It's a campervan and some one is inside don't you think so it's painfully obvious or do you think people are that Dim. If you want to know some one is approaching the van get some sensors fitted by the cameras or get cameras with sensors built in that will automatically turn on the CCTV also record any issues for evidence if needed good for insurance also . Other than that the van is in no way a stealth camper it stands out as a camper . Not forgetting you have to hear someone out side in order to check your CCTV in the first place if you hear them at all I doubt they will be singing jingle bells while approaching your van will bells on their ankles . Lol Saying all this I do like the van and your love for the van shows but think about sensors in many ways its a great addition oh and it will not operate while driving obviously..... :) I'm no Sherlock
David Smith Hi Dave (Sherlock) Lol 😂 when stealth camping or wild camping in a camper van you generally turn up late and leave early you just generally sleep in the van and then move on in the morning In my video I make it clear that I put a blanket behind the seats we don’t use the blinds the blanket is so people can’t see in the back The all idea of this set up is just so you can have a quick look to see what’s going on with out give it away that someone is in the van and if it looking A bit iffy! You can just get into the Front of the van and just drive away leaving any problems behind 😀 A friend was wild camping and in the early hours of the morning he was woken up by a cow rubbing up and down the Front of the van he no idea what was going on and got a bit scared because he was in the middle of nowhere 😀 Lots of people use them particularly if they live full time in a van. I use TomTom hgv (£600) and it works ace.. can put all the sizes of vehicle into it and does not send me down stupid lanes.. also got same on my 10" tablet as a free app.. Is the link on the outside Louie step so you can walk him as you drive...? The one above the bed is to hang him..? Have you weighed the van to see how close you are to your max weight yet..? The whithe of the v.w.van is the length of the bed 5' 6" ?. I'm 5' 8", But I'm an x trawler man and I'm ust to a 7' long bunk. Sometimes we would get enthusiastic skippers in there rush to get no Whare in a storm at night, Would punch the weather. That spare 1'ft at head and foot was appreciated.

Hey! Had a browse through the comments and couldn’t find the answers for what I would love to know! So sorry if someone else has asked before. I actually found these cameras on eBay first and then your video, so hoping you can help. I want to install them on my boat on the thames, but I’m a little worried about the power they consume, in summer it’s no problem with solar, but the dark winters are a problem. I’m also wondering if they record with the screen “off” or do you have to have the screen on to record. Really quite excited to have something that can record what goes on when I’m not around as well as to see who’s around the boat when I’m inside... as you described. Many thanks 🙏🏻
Hi Brendon they use very little power a good way to test this is look at the thickness of the wires they are very thin therefore don’t take much power and amps 👍 the one I use and listed do not record they are just used to CCTV when on a park up to see what’s going on outside 👍 however there are a number of us on the market that can record I believe Gadget John and Darren from urban motorhome both have recording systems Hope that helps 👍😀🐾

Might be a soppy question but when its dark do the cameras outside light up ie led lights or are they still discrete as in daytime? Also great videos and i love the van.

@@onemanandhiswhippet Thanks for reply ive got a pretty duff set up spy cameras set in my window interior covers that go to a box then the tv. The cameras drop out all the time and have to restart. I bought a camera like the ones you have but when it was dark all the leds around cam lit up, no good for stealth. Look forward to your test as i like the set up you have.

Hello mate, how you are well. Just looking at CCTV options for my motorhome and was wondering if you still recommend this one in the link, or if they have an upgraded/newer version? I'm looking to wall mount the monitor at the end of the bed, does the stand wall mount okay? Thank you
Re power usage it all depends on the amount of things running and for how long Each item has an amp hour rating and if you add them together you can then see the total amount that will be used for all the items together. I have available 560 amp hours of power in my two batteries however you can only really use 50% of your total ( without damaging the batteries) so I have available power that can be used is 260 amp hour The max usage is around 10 amp hours so 260 divided by 10 = 26 hours so if we work on 4 hours per day I can get around 6.5 day’s without any generated power from the split charger or the solar panels Hope that helps 👍 thanks for watching 👍❤️😀🐾🍟🍺

Always remember when setting up your SatNav to use someplace else (Local Police Station, local Shopping Centre, local Post Office) as your HOME. That way when your SatNav is Stolen by Thieves, your House is still Safe and you can Report the Theft, whilst the would be house burglars are still trying to find your House.
