Hello everyone! This is Jay, author of the 1916 and 1914 mod projects, and co-creator of Battlefield 1918. Firstly want to say that I hope you enjoyed the video and all our hard-work, and to encourage everyone to watch the previous, full BF1 Inaccuracies video on Frosty's channel! Next, wanted to a compile a list to all the mods listed in this video, as well some of the others briefly mentioned, as follows (Links had to be removed due to RU-vid censorship, please search for these on BF1 Nexus): 1916 - Enhanced Singleplayer (SP Cosmetics) Simple Campaign Weapon Change Realistic Item Names Historically Faithful Iron Sights 1916 - Enhanced Multiplayer (MP Cosmetics) Battlefield 1914 (MP Cosmetics) Battlefield 1918 (MP Cosmetics) ~~~ I would like to give a huge thanks to Frosty for having me be part of the team, and for showcasing these projects. It means a lot to me, and I'm sure it means a lot to all the other modders as well, especially in the face of our work being lost to EAC. If I may give some credit, I'll start with PotatoChip_28, HauptmannHK, Trek and Madicode, the original creators of the first BF1 mod, the BF1 Character Rework, which was used as a starting-off point for pretty much every cosmetics mod available, including my own. Despite my projects, and others, having spiraled massively, with tons of their own unique additions and creations, it's still good to pay credit to those who came before and started it all! Not to mention they're still around, and very helpful. The next group would be the BF1+V Modding Discord Server, and the r/BattlefieldCosmetics subreddit, both of which have provided lots of entertainment, insight, and suggestions over the years. In particular I'd like to thank American_Hero454 (Owner of the Modding Server, and main author of BF1918) as well as R4noo7076. A lot of BF1 and V modding wouldn't have been possible without these two fostering a great community around these games. ~~~ In any case, hope you all enjoyed, and enjoy the projects, and thank you! Cheers. P.S: I go by HarlowLovesGaming on Nexus, if that clears up any confusion there lol.
2:06 Actually , the M1903 Springfield Mk.I was kind of rare for even normal U.S. troops to wield , most of them carrying the M1917 Enfield .And the Harlem Hellfighters would have used Berthier Carbines and Rifles and possibly Lebels .
You are right about the M1917 Enfield being more common. They were most likely not added instead however, due to animations problems, the models in game were pretty much designed to fire certain weapons and would completely glitch out if given certain ones sometimes. The M1903 is still certainly a better choice than the 1907 rifles they have in the base game though, and was likely the best work around for the games modding limitations . As for the Lebel and other such weapons for the Hellfighters, that is also true and as stating in the video the Model 1886 and Chauchat were attempted to be added but couldn't again due to the animations bugging out.
I LOVE the 1916 mod , all the uniforms are both accurate and drippy .Now I wish we had mods that changed the animations (Those cycling animations on the straight bolt rifles anger me) and ones that had to add skins that changed the looks and animations of weapons so similarly performing weapons of the time period can be added (I am DESPERATE for a swing-out cylinder revolver and a Carcano Rifle) .
how're you supposed to break that game down? it doesn't say where, it doesn't say when, we can only speculate. it would really be a mini video alright - like 2 minutes
The uniform changes are really amazing as the various uniforms of WW1 are some of my favorite military uniforms. And I'd love a part 2 showcasing the historically accurate multiplayer mods.
This man deserves more praise. You my man have brought a smile to me. Its a breath of fresh air to see some actual historical correct. Could you do a video on Enlisted? And maybe you could do more historical content such as movies like band of brothers. Also I want to mention its disappointing to see developers fail to create historically accurate content while Roblox has more historically accurate UGC items
I may be Australian but it warms my heart to see the NZ lemon Squeezers added. Poor lads hardly get much recognition when it comes to ANZAC representation. Also thanks for saying Aussie correctly.
While I occasionally disagree with your tone in these vids (calling devs 'lazy' when development logistics interfere with detailing), I do very much appreciate your support of modders and community projects to fix historical inconsistencies in these games.
I’d argue that this video is just proving his point. “This is a bunch of guys on the internet working for free to make a more historically accurate game. You’re a multi-million dollar studio. We made your game more accurate, and it wasn’t all that difficult in the grand scheme of things. What’s your excuse?”
@@PhoenixT70second this. VERDUN I not only grew up with (i remember playing that when it was FIRST releasing), but that series of games (the ww1 game series) is immensely popular because of its historical authenticity.
@PhoenixT70 Most of the assets used in the mods are from other games, mainly Isonzo, so no they haven't done more work than DICE, it's much easier to import already existing assets than to make them completely from scratch like DICE would have had to do.
I´m so grateful there is people that put so mush effort into history, I have dreamed about a mod like this for years. What I´m now curious about is if its possible to put campaign bots into MP maps so we can have kinda more campaign levels in the amazings maps that are Passchendeale, St. Quentin Scar or Verdun Heights
It’s sad how we can only have authentic history in video games by using forbidden MOD, I wonder what these developers were thinking when they put all the fancy nonexistent stuff on the models
@@leonsong3284 There's a certain amount of "rule of cool" additions you can make to a game based on history before people will find it too silly to be immersed. BF1 was at a perfect point where it exaggerated a lot but was just realistic enough to not cross the line for most people, making it really fun AND realistic enough. BF5 didn't just cross that line, it rocketed past it.
I love that as you're trying to explain the differences in the Enemy models after the hellfighters... you're just crawling around looking at their boots while they try to shoot you 😂
Holy sh*t... He did it, so goated, thank you. Edit: I actually met SNOOT, or Baron in game. He made the Aperture sights mod, Historically faithful iron sights mod, and retextured the single action army before the newer one came out. He is awesome. Edit 2: I used like 21 mods and I love it, I LOVE IT!
You are right, I said it anyway though to give it the benefit or the doubt and hopefully stop people from commenting arguing that a tiny few were used since info on the weapon and its use is very controversial.
Thanks you for these fixes but even tho it’s accurate. I like the artistic liberty the art team took with some outfits like the Austrian-Hungarian ski masks and Italian helmets. But then there are changes that I loved like the ANZAC shirts, British khaki recolor, and the Ottoman rework. (Tho the black officer uniform is hella drippy even if it’s a place holder.)
Man, crazy how the historically accurate outfits and guns look WAYYYYY better on the troops than the stuff developers make up or get wrong. Authenticity truly is the way to go!
I really hope we will be able to use the mods after the anticheat gets added. I have been using bf1 mods for a long time now as the historical inaccuracies bugged me from the start, especially the god-awful "Austro-Hungarian" uniforms
It is really quite a shame, some of these Modders like Jay Fuzz have been working on these mods for multiple years, and it's at risk of being completely shut down now
I think Austro-Hungarian uniforms in the base game look sick, but yah... very very distracting from a historical perspective lmao. Always irked me that people complained about the Ottoman uniforms in the vanilla game when they were FAR better than the vanilla AHU haha. Anyway thank you for your support!
The Jackboots, or marching boots as they were called at the time, were used though lowboots were also used especially with the leather shortage late war. I do hope they manage to randomise the uniforms as the 1907/10, the simplified M14 and the further modified M15 were equally as common as eachother late war
Hi there, thanks for the comment! I'm Jay, I made the 1916 mod. I actually would have loved to have a mix of jackboots and puttees, as well as a few 1907s throughout the campaign, but as he says throughout the video, it's unfortunately not possible due to technical limitations of the Singleplayer Campaign. In the 1916 Multiplayer Mod, the way I have the Germans setup currently shows them with 1907 tunics and M15 greatcoats, with all of them using 1866 jackboots except the Assault, who utilises puttees and leather reinforced trousers, but I have considered giving the Assault an M15 tunic in the future. Just not sure if it's worth the effort, the increased file-size, plus I love the 1907 drip haha. Cheers!
german npc from a far:what the enemy doing? the frosty:if u look closely, u can see this npc wearing misplaced pants... german npc who is being examine:stop looking at my pants u twat the frosty:u can also hear the german have british accent, which is inaccurate
Powerful Research. Even to Historically Accurate instead of immature. Glad that it’s back after World at War. Maybe you could do all of the games you review modded to the accuracy.
DICE has always been stylized. Historical accuracy was never their strongsuit. With another year of development we probably would have scene the cosmetic system from BFV implemented.
@@queuedjar4578 Hellooo, I'm the author of the 1916 mod mentioned in the video. I actually wanted to say that, whilst I agree to an extent that Dice likes to stylise and portray things with a level of exaggeration, my main goal with my cosmetics mods has always been to remain the exaggerated tone and portrayal, but in a way that's a bit more authentic, if that makes sense. I've still cheated in some ways, or have things that I haven't gotten round to yet, but I do think there is a mix of authenticity and "rule of cool" that can be reached in a game like this in a way that's still immersive and faithful whilst being more "fun", for lack of a better word. Anywho, cheers!
I was curious if any developer from DICE or EA reached out to you trying to defend the inaccuracies they've implemented. Also, how does mods like these not sit well with EA? It's not even cheating.
Hello! I can't answer your comment about devs reaching out, but regarding EAC, it's less about them targeting these mods, and more of how EAC works basically blanket disabling anything that alters the game, cosmetic or otherwise. If you launch a modded instance of the game with EAC, afaik, it doesn't ban you, but simply fails to connect to any servers. Because the modding software used for these mods isn't invasive and is a simple injection, it's a lot easier for EAC to detect and block it, or something like that.
Helloooo! So the mods mentioned in the video, for the singleplayer and multiplayer, are actually all already available as most of them are a few years old now, at least, these videos are just a showcase. If you head over to the BF1 Nexus you can find a lot of these mods available for download ^^
I'm pretty sure the bayonet on the MP18 at 0:28 didn't exist for WW1, I've seen pictures of bayonets on the MP28 but they were fixed to the holes in the shroud instead of a band type thing more characteristic of a Martini-henry bayonet. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong I'm no expert
You are correct yes, the MP18s should not have bayonettes, it was one of the many innacuracies listed in our full analysis linked here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5QM6ghjR4RE.html
I couldn't help but chuckle when you where checking out the Germans while being shot at. Why can I just imagine "Sir, he won't die, and I feel violated"
😂 I’m thinking DICE was coping and seething at the inaccurate displays that we called out and tried to fix it. When technical limitations didn’t work, they conspired to enforce EAAC. In which, would be hilarious if that was the case.
many people don’t care of historical inaccuracies in Battlefield because they like Battlefield, yet many people insulting Call of Duty because of historical inaccuracies I can smell the irony
Seeing this more scrutinous look at the uniforms makes me realize just how bad the "historical" uniforms are. I don't mind the unhistorical, highly experimental and uncommon pieces such as the helmets with visors. They are an interesting addition to spice up the design and differentiate the classes. But miatakes such as wrong webbing, straps, pouches, bandoliers, shovels.... I never paid attention to them, but having it be pointed out... Just how much did the Dice not care about the historical accuracy?! You can easily google for a German mess tin and add that instead of an Italian one! As much as the game stood out for the historical accuracy and unique setting, we need more historical games that pay attention to the last details. This is some great work that you've doing guys, props to all the modders and the rest. Those accurate mannlicher pouches and hechtgrau uniform on the thumbnail made me smile when I saw it.
Ever since the game came out, I have daydreamed about the campaign what it would be like if it was historically accurate. Never knew it was this possible.
Very cool! I think it would be cooler if uber-rich studios like EA employed research teams to do this kind of thing for them in the first place, but it is what it is. This is part of why modding is important! Players should have the freedom to touch things up. There's no reason for EA to go messing with an 8 year old game in such a significant way. It's like when Bethesda pushed an update for Fallout 4 this year and broke a ton of mods. When you let a game sit untouched for modders to play with for almost an entire decade, you shouldn't go screwing with it. Just leave it alone
I actually have an idea to turn the Carcano Carbine into a regular Carcano at some point :) Just not sure how since I've never worked on weapons before lol, but it's a shame you can't keep both at once.
You know I did always feel a bit confused by battlefield 1 as someone who liked history even all the way back when I last played it but I’m no expert so this explains why it always felt off massive chunks of the clothes and weapons are completely different to reality and thus basically all media I would’ve seen surrounding it.
Love the video sad to see the game dying the server because one time I actually tried to go on the server in Battlefield 1 and no one was playing I don't know why😢
I love this mod but i think the reason there's so many anachronistic and unicorn weapon in the campaign probably because the developer wanted the player to try as much weapon as they can before going for online play
Hello, mod creator here! I actually thought about doing this, but I kept the Hechtgrau simply because I prefer it lol. It's not really mentioned in the video, but my 1916 series of mods aren't really supposed to be 100% accurate, it's more like trying to make a more immersive/authentic version of Dice's original vision. Still exaggerated and "cool" in some areas, but in a way that's a little more faithful to history. Cheers!
Even if the mod is taken down, I'm sure the developer of the mod would just re-upload it again, and even if the mod developer isn't allowed to do that, there will always be someone that has the mod and re-upload it. Edit: Just got done watching the video, I get what you mean now. Well, at least the private server clients you mentioned in the outro can be used to make mods work when the new AC update comes.
I can pretty well guarantee it’s a whole lot easier to just play Verdun (great game btw) as that was built from the ground up to be historically accurate 😂
the blue shirts on Australia are inaccurate i am Australian i served in the military and over years have even lead tours at museums for special events we did not have blue shirts at Gallipoli or really at all ever ive only seen a blue undershirt once and it was depicted as being on the uniform of New Zealanders at Gallipoli our service shirts and shorts were more of a chino colour with an ash white undershirt idk where people are getting these wrong depictions from but it has to be from the same source
Hello! I'm the author of the mod in the video, that's actually good to know as I didn't know any of that. I based the version in the game on the standard commonwealth undershirt which I know was used by a lot of commonwealth countries, my own included (I'm South African). I might've leapt to conclusions based on that information, as well as others things I'd seen/read online, but I will look into it further, thank you!
I have been playing using mods for so long for battlefield 1 It’s gonna be a massive shame to not be able to use retexture mods Cuz some of the muitiplayer characters models look extremely bad
It is not faithfully depicted in game. It is portrayed as full auto with a near 1000 RPM when it was semi auto only in reality and the iron sights are on the complete wrong side of it in game.
It's a shame that some video game publishers don't see the benefit of a game being moddable, the community would keep coming back to it even if it's decades old.
Ikr it's proven by so many games. Not just giants like Skyrim but also older games like the original Star Wars Battlefront 2, Half-Life, CoD1 and 2, Total War games etc.
