One thing to mention about the FG42 in BFV (and many other games that have it) is that it’s based on the late war model designed and issued in February of 1945.
I mean, I haven't even watched the video, but the uniqueness of BF1 is it's Hollywood take on WW1. With the gameplay being what it is, historical accuracy just equates to visual downgrades. As long as you can go on killstreaks with a broken wine bottle, freely drive tanks, jump out of planes and parachute, harass machine gunners with a kolibri, destroy tanks by hitting non-vital parts, casually use experimental weapons, et cetera; the medieval armor and ski masks just add to the rule of cool aesthetic. I recommend Verdun or Isonzo or something if you want the gritty monotony of WW1.
In addition to the review and article I showed on screen, there were a bunch more. WW1 is generally less known about than other conflicts like WW2 are, and I'd say that this led to people thinking that BF1 was accurate cus they did not know what WW1 was like in reality and just took all the BS seen in game as fact
Anyone who's watched Red Dwarf knows that JFK was the 2nd shooter. This happened because the Red Dwarf crew accidently changed history leading to the assassination failing leading to WW3 happening as a mafia paid president came into power after JFK lost power leading to Nuclear doomsday & thus to fix the history of earth they made JFK kill himself so he'd be remembered as a good man & not be remembered for the many scandals that happened during his life that only came to light after his death. (I am almost certain this episode of red dwarf is a reference to a Steven King book with a similar plot but less comedy in how it plays out)
The germans mass producing MG08/15s with standardized parts was so revolutionary that an idiom survived to this day. Something being "08/15" is a reference to it being very common, standard, almost bland.
Love how you can basically sum it up with: "We removed 90% of automatic and semi-automatic weapons, 90% of scopes and all the trope-y headgear." EA desperately wanted WW1 to have all the dakka so they just threw in every experimental prototype f-ery they could somehow tie to the time period.

As someone from France, i hate this growing assumption that France is just the worst country for black people. I know racism is still much prevalent, but an American trying to critique us that were the worst ones is so infuriating! Like ffs, they had there black troops serve with us in WW1 and 2 cause they didn’t want them side by side with them… And the audacity to critique our sports for having to many black people, calling them non French….. It fucking enrages me
Even with the inaccuracies, Monte Grappa is still my favorite looking location ever in a a game. I catch my self just standing around at different spots on the map looking at the scenery, even in multiplayer.
Ima say it, as much as I don’t like COD Vanguard, why isn’t the same criticism of its very unhistorical accurate campaign being said for this game? Its just as inaccurate given all the uniform changes and theatres having weapons of countries that didn’t partake in it.
8:07 it was not uncommon for the the Vietcong using world War II guns from the German side since the Soviets were supplying them weapons that they captured from the Germans during world War II the mg42 was one of them also with MP40s and STG 44s as well as Soviet PPSHs. Instead of the Soviet scrapping the German weapons after world War II the Russians gave them the Vietcongs
