I feel so bad watching you guys struggle with this. I just did this job today and It took about 2 hours. All i did was cut the pipe on the inside. I pulled through the the firewall and removed those clamps. Installing I used a worm drive clamp and a long extension with a swivel to tighten them. Theres no need to fight this job or remove the evaporator.
Thank you for the video. I'm guaranteed to not make the several mistakes you made. Was I the only one screaming "BRIAN, stop taking the blower shroud off!!!" The pipes are underneath it not in it!!! " Somewhat painful to watch. Extensions with 7/32nd and 10mm is needed. And a little common sense. Don't take doghouse off. Don't dismantle blower assembly. Dont remove battery. Made this so much more complex than it ever needed to be.

I have a 2003 Express 3500 and I'm gonna cut the pipe connections on the old core like you said at 28:00 then drill bigger holes in the firewall to send new heater hose through to cabin, big enough for clamps to fit and connect to new core there. Also eliminate plastic heater control valve. Chevy made this a nightmare to do.

Honestly I was already to the last bit of pulling a core out.. I was hoping to find something I missed to make it easier but either way I got some motivation from this video to get the dang hoses and clamps off 😆
Literally just snip the pipes on the inside and pull through firewall into the engine bay. I cut mine today with diagonal cutters. Reinstalled with worm drive clamps that I tightened with extension and uninstall joint. Whole job under 2 hours. I feel bad watching them struggle in this video.
