That group of old golfers is why I love golf. They make the stories and time on the course amazing when you run into them and they just drop you right into the banter. Several times i had run ins with people like them who made my love of golf so strong.

I didn't know I had a personal grail until I saw that Grumpy headcover. OMG.

I love the Ping Doc putters - I have 4! Two 15s and two 17s. They look as if they shouldn't work but they are so beautifully balanced. Sadly I've lost the head covers to the 15s so if you ever see a Doc 15 headcover going I'll happily take it off your hands! Can't find them for love or money in the UK (and even Ping don't have them now).

I would have taken the whole table for 50.00. I mean you took 8 for 40.00. those head covers were crazy. what an amazing community sale.

Hey Ash and Jon...I used to build clubs as a hobby/side business...I actually assembled a Golfsmith Mamba for myself years ago...yes it is the worst sounding club ever, but I still have it!

I just found your channel recently and love watching you guys find hidden treasures. Then I was watching this video and heard you talk about Chris Drury and him being from your hometown and it blew me away. I grew up in Trumbull (now live in Newtown) and it was such a proud time to be from Trumbull when we won the Little League World Series. I remember there was a sign as you got on the 25 Connector stating we won the 89 LL World Series. The owners of a company I worked for were related to the coach of that team. I used to dabble in golf a little bit but my biggest connection to the sport was I worked at Tasha Knolls Golf Course for many years while in college. I was on the 9 year plan. Lol. Oh, that Snake Eyes driver is the worst. I bought the head on close-out at the flagship store here in Austin. Terrible noise, terrible performance. I have a battered version of the Pelz putter, no relation to Odyssey. I was hoping you would pick up one of the two deco looking Spalding Center Line putters just to hear a comment, but nope. All in all, an impressive haul. Tour issue putters can go for insane money. I need to watch ebay for the prototypes, it should be fun.

The JW stands for Jim Wells. Should be followed by the year made, the tour, then the three digit serial. As rare as you can get. If you contact ping they may reveal who it was first made for.

That 3-ball is the original Dave Pelz putter that started it all! It’s not a training aid. It could be one of the most important and innovative putters ever made. I had that putter in my bag in college. I would have been sad if you didn’t grab it.

There is a story in Golf Digest about the Pelz putter that has the three plastic balls lined up to your putting line that you recently found. I can’t remember if you bought it or not. It seems that Pelz sold the rights to the design that became the the Odyssey two ball.
