We're taking you guys with us on a snowy Nova Scotia road trip. We found another project car that's priced right... a 1970 Bond Equipe 2-Litre Convertible - which is quite a rare find. We're also going to stop at another spot to check out another interesting project then we're going to drive to our favourite antique store in Port Williams 💰 (apologies for the audio)

More of these days out please. I used to own a Bond Equipe back in the day. Made up of Triumph Herald/Vitesse the straight 6 engine went in the early Triumph 2000/GT6. The Equipe would go fairly being fibre glass and a few vibrations!! (UK). Great little race car by the way, don't let him spend to much Jolene😉

Jolene, you need to get something on the mic to block wind noise, unless of course it's not the wind. then you might need a different mic.

Different car....never heard of one...be an interesting build...the cougar would be cool build...roadtrip...that little Halifax transfer trailer would be neat to have. Loved the Triumph 2-Litre Mark 2 Vitesse as a teenager it was a great car. The Bond Equipe 2 Litre MK II was the last incarnation of the Bond Equipe. The car is based on the chassis and running gear of a MK II Triumph Vitesse with a fibreglass bonnet and rear tub, the windscreen surround and door skins being modified to produce a very different-looking car to the Vitesse. Of the 841 Mk II Cars built there is no record of how many were Coupes or Convertibles, it is estimated that about half were Convertibles.

When I was a student in Vancouver I had a Triumph Herald ..Good little toy car , ..They were a success in England and worked well in the West Coast climate ...

There's no GT6 structure in there - it's all based on the Vitesse but with a lot of parts made by Bond themselves. Bond made the screen frame to go on top of the Vitesse scuttle, and the doors are modified Herald/Vitesse items. The majority of the interior trim is Bond rather than Triumph. As you say, only a small number were exported to Canada, but they were fully built up, not kits.

My uncle had a Bond many years ago here in Ontario! Funny, I was talking about it with my cousin a couple weeks ago. It was a hardtop car. Very cool little car!

Everyone should know by now Chad is not a restorer. He chops, cuts, and shapes metal into odd/beautiful mostly rollers. It must be great in this day and age living off of RU-vid videos doing what you love at home. Lots of admiration for this creative couple.

I've done car and motorcycle trips to Nova Scotia...beautiful countryside and nice people everywhere you go. Enjoyable video and good to see the antique shop. Nice change of pace!!

Chad, "lead balloon" is a well known term in the UK, also said to have led to the naming of Led Zeppelin. Keith Moon of the Who is attributed with saying that using the proposed name of the New Yardbirds "would go down like a lead balloon". I think they were going to be Lead Zeppelin but the word "lead" has two meaning and possibly might lead (see what I did there..)to confusion. cheers

The car is modified triumph vitesse .the 2 litre version of the herald all the running gear is the same as early gt6.i have a gear driven tachometer for one of these all the triumph parts are available quite cheap.the chassis will bolt off to make working on it easy.

I ran a 1300cc Bond Equipe for 4 years. Great fun. Cheap as chips but so light i use to keep up with a new 1600 cc ford as long as you kept your wits about you. Would suggest you put a bit of bracing to the heald chassi . My brother borrowed it and put a 2litre engine in it. First corner chassi twisted and never made the corner.

I was just thinking you know where your winch Mount is you should take it and cut the bottom out and make it so you can pull the top off when you're putting longer cars on since the wench is probably way lower than the lid your opening just an FYI I hope for your sake that could work

This car was impressive when it came out . No it wasn't a James bond car lol . A guy named Laurie Bond designed it . I remember this car a lady owned one only hers was right hand drive .. my dad said she's not from around here . My thought what place she was from is couldn't place any other car like it no where I traveled lol 😂 . Beautiful car . Now if the price is right! Thumbs-up Jolene and Chad it would make a great build .

Wow! I had a 69 Bond Equipe convertible in the same color. The 2-liter straight 6 was super quick in a straight line. Cornering was challenging, the steering was so heavy. Mine had wire wheels. Unfortunately, I have no pictures. I owned it 1991/92.

Ah, my previous reply with a link to the photo of my Equipe Convertible, seems to have disappeared. I've had four, two saloons and two convertibles, and I grew up in the town where they were built. I still have a convertible now, but I've never been challenged by the cornering on any of them

There is a difference between a Runner & a Roller. Runners you can drive while they are rolling. If you want an Art Car piece, save the expense, and build one without an engine or equipment required to put on the road. We had a guy who owned the Route 66 Antique store in Clinton, Oklahoma. He sliced the side of a 49-50s Merc and mounted it on the front of his building with the wheels in the original location. It had a Custom Paint Job on it and was an awesome advertisement for his business.

I know it would be fun to drive ( I had a Fiat 850 about the same size and type) but very rare. Should restore, but they are only worth about $3-5,000 in good shape. Chad could prolly flip it.

It's got side draft carburetor and the air cleaner is still with it could always do a motor swap but I bet you could get a bitter power out of the one that's in it send again put a hellcat I bet that be a fun ride

Back in the UK these were fairly rare to see. The chassis (frame) and running gear were from the Triumph Herald. Chassis suffer from rust

The Triumph Harold was a little larger than the Triumph Spitfire. James May made a sailboat out of one on Top Gear on BBC, a number of years ago.

Chad A term goes like the clappers stems from a bell, the bit that strikes the bell is known as a clapper. But during ww2, British pilots referred to a very fast speed as like; going like the clappers, might be useless information but that's it!

Unless this car is going to a restorer, there is no need to invest in it. It is a low number vehicle that should be in a serious Collector's hands. Never heard of the BOND brand until now. All the comments here don't give rave reviews on this vehicle, and it seems to have a lot of mechanical issues. Of course, if you are cutting it up, for a project, the value is no concern.
