@@Elochuga most of the time camo items are hacked but there’s a small percentage of items becoming glitched I remember back when the table dupe glitch was popular like the 4by4 one people had small chances of the items becoming glitched when they messed it up there’s a big market for these camo items can sell for hundreds of thousands of NMT
It’s a camo item! They are glitched items nintendo tried to remove them at one point but they found a way to make them again They are great because they steal the textures of the surrounding items/area
Dagnel, I wanted to share an odd ACNH detail I recently discovered that, to my knowledge, nobody has discussed yet. Could be a quick video idea for you in the future. Anyway, I recently decided to swap out the majority of the flowers on my island for green mums since you are only allowed ~150 fully grown weeds and I figured it would be a nice way to add more greenery to my nature trail, which takes up a large portion of my island. Only after doing so, I noticed there was a significant reduction in the bug population. After a little experimentation, I discovered that bugs that would normally spawn on flowers were refusing to spawn on any of the green mums in planted. Instead, the flower-dependent bugs were choosing to spawn on all other colored flower variants, excluding the Lily of the Valley, which similarly to the green mums will not spawn bugs. I am unsure if the bugs are programmed to be preferential with regards to flower color, only spawning on green mums if all other flower variants are absent, or if green mums will just definitively never spawn bugs. Interesting nonetheless.
Interesting! The only bug that I know of that likes specific flowers is the Peacock Butterfly, which can only spawn on Black/Purple/Blue Flowers. Never heard anything about Green Mums, but might try it at some point!
You just made me realize no bugs ever land on my green mum patch! It’s 12 green mums all next to each other and I never realized but yeah I think bugs hate green mums lol
@@Dagnel Orchid mantis only spawns on white flowers, doesn't matter the type, Raja Brooke's prefer purple flowers, you have Peacock Butterfly. I feel I am missing some but yeah.
My theory is that if it’s meant to show a deleted custom etc it may be pulling from the nearest item whose name is closest to the design name? Idk that’s the best I got haha
@@Roserae16 if you want to do any other cool hacks like that homebrew ur switch (switch.homebrew.guide/) and use a save editor i do it for basically all my games ever and its so fun lol
@@micah8260 Hacked islands like treasure islands have the ability to properly make them I used to have a glitched Godzilla they are really fun to play with
As far as I know, this happens when there's no assigned texture to a model. Whenever that happens, it grabs seemingly random textures that change depending on the camera's location and draw order of the surrounding objects. This happens in Wii and Wii U games as well.
Best guess is similar glitches in other games. Sometimes when items lack a known texture they attempt to pull a texture from recent memory. Hence why it’s not the closest item but is most likely the furthest up in the loaded textures. I think that for the most part this glitch is entirely harmless and since it’s only pulling textures it won’t really do much. But if I’m wrong then that could possibly mean writing data to ram via that sign. Which opens up a whole world of glitches.
It’s a camo item, a sort of hacked items that pulls textures from surrounding things Nintendo tried to patch them like how they did with the Star Fragment trees and other hacked trees but they found a way to get the Camo items back.
When you tried to customize it, you could see that there was no desing chosen for that little sheet of paper on the sign. Maybe that is why the sign is displaying all the different textures.
My guess as a former QA engineer: it's showing the texture of the last object placed before it was placed, or the last object placed after it has been placed.
Also, happy belated birthday! I haven’t been feeling too good lately but I did see it was ur birthday recently! Interesting sign post and weird glitch!
Ninji stopped because people kept saying Ninji lied about what they datamined since Nintendo was releasing stuff too slowly. Ninji found the Museum Cafe and veggies in v1.0, and now we're finally getting it in v2.
Is this similar to the glitch furniture that you can get on a treasure island? I’ve seen people with furniture that kind of flashes between different patterns and is glitchy or looks like it’s lighting up.
maybe it pulls the texture from the certain area its in by alphabetical order or something like that, it would explain why it chooses seemingly random items to copy the texture from because I bet all of the texture files don't have the same name as the actual item
My guess as to why it took the phone box over the black cat, is I think it's pulling stuff that's cached, stuff that's off-screen but needs to quickly be visible, rather than stuff that is visible
I FOUND OUT HOW TO DO THIS: make a sign with a custom design, send it to a friend then reset your island. since it dosent know the custom design anymore, it will glitch!!!
Hey all, random nobody here that doesn’t do any game development, late to the party and everything to give my thoughts! Literally none of this has any basis other than the video itself and I’m sure you already know most of it anyway! Obviously the sign pulls textures from the files. But not just from anywhere, it pulls from the Memory which is where stuff is loaded. That’s why moving further away from the object it’s camouflaged as causes it to choose another target. My best guess to why it chooses specific items is, it points to a specific spot in memory. This explains why it first targeted the other signs, because they’d probably be grouped together, and if it points to say slot 35, then the other signs would be at 34/36. Assuming that objects are loaded in a set order in memory, this makes it consistent. What caused it? I don’t know. Obviously some kind of desync between the reference it’s pointing to and what’s actually there, but as far as causing it, your guess is as good as mine. Personal speculation says some kind of data loss, where the spots it references are corrupted or straight up don’t exist anymore. And it does have to be purely software-based, since the glitch persisted to another switch.
What’s probably happening is, there’s some chunk of memory in RAM where the game stores the textures for all loaded objects, and as you run around the island and load new objects, the game loads the textures for those objects, overwriting textures for objects that you can’t see anymore. When you customized the sign, it didn’t show any flier as being selected, so the flier data is probably set to some invalid 6th option where there actually isn’t any texture loaded. So, the area of memory where that flier image is supposed to be gets filled by whatever texture happened to load into that spot instead.
I had a glitch happen at my house a couple of months ago. I went to my house and all the music was gone. I would enter a room and the music would instantly stop. Changing the music, turning up the volume and stopping and then starting the music would be silent. Also when having the lily record player in my house, the record would still spin but it wouldn't play
I just wanna know how the person that sent you the sign got it that way? Was it just a random glitch or can it be done with other signs. Like did they customize or what lol?😕
I thought it might have been done by hacking but didn’t really know since the title says “glitch” and the person who sent him the sign said if he could fix it etc.
@@Businessman_Justin yeah I know! It’s a rare occurs Cs though originally I remember people had corrupted items because of the four by four table duplication glitch that occurred I haven’t heard of it happening from making something
The flickering seems to be Z fighting, it happens when two textures are the same distance from the camera (same depth in the Z bugger) and the game basically flipflops on what to render. I assume the strange textures it sees is it looking at a specific point in the memory for a texture and loading that, so when you move around and put it somewhere else you load in new textures and old ones get shuffled out so the texture it find at that space changes. Mayeb the texture it is looking for is never loaded for some reason? But then again it's weird why it would look for more than one texture to begin with?
to anyone wondering this is a camo item, a type of hacked/glitched item that replicate nearby textures, it has been patched i think, i had a few of them before but since the patch has been deleted from my inventory
I wonder if maybe it chooses to pull specific (loaded) items based on internal IDs? (example... if the phone box had a higher item ID, it would show that texture above everything else in the vicinity?)
It's pulling the textures from memory as ones are being loaded it seems. Hence why it changes as you move around, dig a hole, etc. They're tile sheets of the texture being pulled into memory.
this reminds me of cloning in SM64, where you could hold any object if it loaded into the same slot youre holding. that's probably whats going on; the sign is pulling from a texture slot that keeps changing as new objects are loaded and unloaded.
Maybe it loads texture codes of nearby items that are closest to the original sign texture value in priority over range and applies said value accordingly, I have no idea why but that seems to be the case...
This video is glitched for me and there is SO much space under the comments until the next recommended video shows up holy crap. I had to do 2 full screen length scrolls to see another video.
My only guess about why it pulls certain textures is maybe the textures it picks are the same size/resolution but what throws me off is its not just the smaller items cause it pulled the telephone box
I think Its only pulling textures that's you can see, for example at the end it stopped showing the latern texture after you moved off screen of it and pulled the nearest texture (the tree)
i think its pulling loaded textures in-game based on their item number, i have no clue of acnh code specifics but i get that sort've feeling for some reason
Could this be like, a debug feature? Like the Devs needed to test something and found a sign that chooses the texture of say, the highest RAM using thing being rendered on screen, to be useful?
I think the picture of the hole is a picture of a hole from New Leaf because ACNH doesn't have that flooring. Also I think all the photos either are from New Leaf or you saved files
