I think the Mercedes is freaking cool! It'd be nice to see Slick on the channel to help with the body filled panels and dents. I always like it when he's around and doing sheetmetal work since it's an artform!
i agree there, would love to see you do a german car for us european followers. there is probably even more rust under the paint than you see, so def need Slicks help, which makes for a great recipe for a series. or keep it ruff with some brown patina
I think we’re all in agreement, I know when Puddin’ first mentioned the filler I thought yeah that can be a bit of a task to tackle and maybe he should head towards a different direction and then I remembered Slick’s a body man and it’s been a minute or three since Puddin and Slick worked together on a project. Thought that would be a great opportunity to watch the two of them putting together a nifty little ride. And when it’s all put back together Puddin can lay down one of his patina paint jobs like he did on the Datsun and it’ll look like one of the family.
You guys are nutz! That old dawg wouldn't easily accommodate a LS. My son and I put one along with a Tremec 6 speed in his W114 (280) and that required a complete rebuild of the engine compartment. Had to remove the steering and put in a rack and pinion plus different tie rod ends etc.
Yes the Mercedes is different and a very cold car, I think how well built it is and how well it has survived out weighs the body problems! I would love to see what you could do with it puddling style 😁👍🏾
I like the way people are volunteering ol' Slick for all this work like he ain't got nothin' else to do, or money to make. That's almost like your wife volunteering you to go help the neighbor with her car when that's what you do for a living.
@@Ellington_Industrial_ArtsI always help out when someone needs it n I always lose out whether it be money or my time needed elsewhere. Gotta start looking out 4 urself
Listen to an old guy and the Mercedes... When an artist sees something that makes him smile because he sees what he can create, don't stop the creative juices from flowing. I saw you smile looking at that old Mercedes.
I think I'd really like to see how you approach repairing the Mercedes, and since you are THE sheet metal guy I think we could all learn together. And besides I could be entertained by watching you do just about anything, I'm here for it all and look forward to Mondays and Thursdays, to see what you're up to next. Come On!!!
Fairly common over here in the UK but after 50 years they have either been restored or have fallen apart. Your huge advantage is your climate has been way kinder (we salt our road in winter). Mercs are over engineered and built like tanks. I agree with your statement... it need to go from class to obnoxious. It will always stand out from the herd. I would love to see how you tackle the bodywork as a brilliant fabricator and metal work artist. Forget any attempt at perfect restoration... go for some customisation. I like function to determine style... build it to work for you... better still graft in some classic pieces from other cars of the era... maybe a continental kit, frenched in lights, a roof scoop/vent and drop it way down.
we salt our roads as well in the US where ever snow is at the least yearly pretty much any state northern of oklahoma. i'm from kansas so we salt the hell out of everything for whatever reason.
Oh get the Mercedes. It's something you've wanted and you and Slick should be able to work out the body filler issues because outside of that it looked to have pretty solid bones to work off of. You will have to stock up on the Grey Poupon as you're starting to class up the joint with that ride.
Let’s rock the Mercedes !! Be some cool new content !! Get slick involved on the body work stuff. You two are good together!! Throw wild bill in the mix and then it’s just straight money.
Buy the Benz it was probably in a bad hail storm, plus it'd give slick something to do for a few shows. Praying for continued success, the world is a better place because of puddin! Thanks for all the smiles!
Something different doesn't bother me at all Puddin. Maybe go down that LS swap and slam it to the ground it could be epic or not but you'll never know unless you try. Be careful and stay safe my friend. God love ya brother
Man, you have a vision of what that Mercedes is gonna look like. Between you and Slick, y'all got the tools & the skills to fix the body, then paint it. Whether or not you keep the original motor or not, you can still do a "Will it Run" video. That coupled with the body work, clean up, lowering, and any under the hood mods y'all do, it gift you plenty of content. Plus it's something quite different, which is always a plus. Not your run of the mill project. Plus, if you get the right black, I bet adding some Puddin's Fab Shop Blue would really pop! Ultimately, its whether or not you feel like doing the extra work due to the body. I'm pretty sure we all feel like you can handle it no problem, especially after chopping a long bed to a short bed in just one day.
Hell yeah brother. That's a perfect project car I would love to see you work on cuz I love your contact you're hilarious. You bring humor to working on trucking and getting it done
I like the Merc. Would be cool to see the body repair on it. Small block chev swap, lowered with black stealies and white walls like you said. That'd be dope
Would love to see you do this one! Matte black like that, white wheels with the caps & white walls. Little lower to the ground & a nice little cammed LS motor or cammed small block. Keep the stickshift & make a SWEET cruiser!
Such good taste Puddin! Its great that you get stuck into a variety of interesting and different stuff. Those old Mercs look badass! I can already see what you are going to do with it 👍🏼
Dude, you made the coolest looking working shop. I'm sure you will add to it over the years. Props to you, man It's probably the butt of a valve stem in that tire. On the Mercedes, depending on the price you agreed to, I'd like to see you do an LS swap.
Puddin Time y’all. Sit down and shut up and enjoy it y’all. 😂 😂😂. Can’t wait to see more updates and projects and many more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Fab On. Weld on. Keep Making. God bless.
I think you should do the old Merc!!!! The way you described the "opposite" of old and classy would be old and sassy. SBC 350 and slammed on bags with steelies and wide whites would be sick!!! Its a nice sort of contrast from the truck content. always look forward to the videos and you never fail to impress with your ingenuity and creativity.
Puddin tang , you are the man buddy. Your being humble is what keeps me coming back day after day. Thank you for the entertainment and schooling god bless you and your family. 🫵✌️👍🏻👍🏻
You have the shop space. You have the skills and slick as support. Would be a good size project to do the repairs right. Slam it. Mini tub the rear big cam and and keep it manual
that mercedes is a true classic. its hard to find one that isn't in horrible shape. I'd love to see you bring that one back to life. I own a 1977 Mercedes 240D. love that car. best thing is, parts are still available. there are also adapters available for the trans to a different engine. lookup doomsday diesel
Anytime Wild Bill and Slick show up you know it's gonna be good! Thanks for Another Great video AND whether to Benz or not to Benz, i'm sure the next one will be an interesting build to say the least
The Mercedes would be a good change/twist on the channel. You know you'll get it and make it nice! After seeing what you fixed on the wagon i definitely believe you can fix that Mercedes.
I mean check and see how many views Mercedes builds are getting compared to GM vehicles. don't listen to everybody that is blowing smoke up your rear-end they are all Yes Men and will flee the ship when it comes the time to watch I will keep it real with u
The instrument cluster issue is due to bad solders, cold solders. If you resolder all the pins on the board it'll work right again. It works for the 4wd button panel as well. Save yourself some $$. Just take time.
A friend of mine used to own a car stereo shop and he would fix lots bc of car radios just by heating up all the solder on the circuit board carefully with a small torch he said melting the solder flowed back into the cracks and fixed many problems.
I play around with Mercedes because you can buy an older one for half the price of a domestic rwd. Parts availability is okay unless you have to get your parts from Auto zone or O'Reilly. My daily C280 has 13.5" front rotors with Brembo calipers , 13" rear rotors with 2 piston fixed calipers, AMG sway bars, drop springs , performance shocks, and 6 speed manual swap. Sorry about the long list, but almost everything we're junk-yard parts and I only have $3,000 in it including purchase price. Btw A v8 swap with 300 or so hp is a drop in with a ecu flash for about $1,500.
Twin turbo LS1 or LS2 swapped Bens would definitely something different for the shop!! It just might put you in the 1 million subs category! You never know🙏🏻❤️💪🏼🔥🔥🔥👍🏻
Puddin,, buy buy buy!! Those things are so cool!!! No doubt going to be work, but u better believe we will love watching ya bust knuckles on this ole raschall. IMO your family will love some weekend cruises in this joker too.. It's awesome dude!! AIM HIGH!!
My thought is, Great Deal. You can't just find one of those around every corner. Would be cool to see you research & learn about the vehicles provenance. As well as restoring the numbers matching engine. As fun as putting in an LS would be, i believe it does the car a disservice. Crunchy is no problem just time & effort. I'm guessing 58- 62 ish. Ty for taking us along
I like the idea of a Mercedes project. Certainly will present new challenges. But I do enjoy your Datsuns and Internationals. I’m an old Ford guy, but I love your GM projects as well. Let’s just say that whatever you’re building, I’m gonna watch with interest. 👍
