Ha! Weird to see surf culture coming into skiing. I've always thought skiing is far more collaborative wrt beta on lines and especially snow safety. For those of us who can't spend a month in Cham skiing with IMFGA guides, the location would be cool to know.

haha, amazing stuff, but still funny how you've blurred the name of the spot :D you're afraid someone can figure out what the spot it is? It took me a moment, as 'Chamonix' was a bit misleading, but don't worry, it simply isn't in conditions most of the time, It gets far too much sun, hence the tons of people that pass by barely pay attention ;) Anyway, good call, though, the luxury of having a local guiding you around.

Your videos are truely amazing! The camera work coloring and editing in general all match and deliver what they should. But me as Photo/Video guy myself would be interested on how you go about the production especially the audio side of things as it seems you use lavs as mics and then sync the audio to all the footage via timecodes or something. I think a video about your production process would be really interesting.

Niko is riding 189.2cm skis, I assume Jacob is on a similar size and Krister is on a snowboard probably not longer then 165cm a size that is equivalent to a ski size most beginners would use or a shorter person might want. They are all similar sized humans. When I see similar crashes on the FWT, it makes me wonder if a 189.2cm snowboard would have allowed Krister to land with style and ease.🤔
@mmmmkkk
@mmmmkkk 3 месяца назад
there is just no point in making such a calculation, there is just so many other, more important variables than surface, even within the boards, its the stiffness, the rocker, the tip shape, but most importantly snowboard has widely different position and balance, you can get away with some stuff that would be hard on skis and vice versa.
@psychedeliccheese
@psychedeliccheese 3 месяца назад
Pointless feels a bit dismissive. I am looking at the lever arm created by the human onto the board in relation to the angle of the snow. A longer tail on a snowboard effectively moves the fulcrum farther away from the rider, reducing the leverage. A longer nose would move the Fulcrum point forward and increase the planing surface allowing the rider to put more weight forward while reducing the chances of tip dive. This design would allow riders on steep slopes to land "bolts" rather than "backseat". Current snowboard design is mimicking skateboards that are intended to perform well on low angle or level surfaces. Skis have always been designed to perform well on steep snow surfaces. Now we see Snowboards entering traditional ski territory and their design failing the rider.@@mmmmkkk
@mmmmkkk
@mmmmkkk 3 месяца назад
@@psychedeliccheese pointless cause body position changes much more than that. Or at least the last time I check my knees only bend in 1 direction and your movement in the hips and back is very different backward/forward than to the side. Also having feet fixed in like is huge difference to being able to spread themz etc. etc. length of the tail is extremely minor in all that. And no, skis we're not ALWAYS designed to perform well on steep nor deep snow, most of them are still not. Differences between models are huge. Landing wise even binding position changes tons
@mmmmkkk
@mmmmkkk 3 месяца назад
@@psychedeliccheese and of course, you can make longer nose and tails in both of those sports, and its done here and there, but there is a lot of side effects, even worse if you use it for climbing as well.
