Awesome video! I work for BD. The main metric missing in this comparison is measured lumens. The DD TIR lens is great for focusing intensity, but the thick optic loses roughly 50% of raw lumens. BD legacy reflector optics can't focus like TIR, but you lose less than 20% of lumen output. Subjectively speaking, while driving you will appreciate more lumens everywhere over more intensity unless you are Menzies and only drive 80mph+.

You guys are the Scientists of Lighting. Can I reach out to you if I have a technical question? Im a BD dealer in deep south texas. I want to be able to answer questions the customers might have if they really get into the nitty gritty technical stuff.

This is a fantastic comparison video. I appreciate the real-world images included with the lab testing for output numbers. This is by far, your best side-by-side comparison video. Keep it up.

XHB's spot seems to be more of a Baja "Racer" than a baja spot. would be interested in testing the Racer Edition LP9 vs the Spot BigBanger XHB

Great comparison, glad I watched as I’m looking at getting something in the future. I have to say I defs preferred the light temperature of the Baja then the others. And combo too. Pretty sold on those.

Seems like a bad comparison when using the Diode dynamics SS5 sport instead of the SS5 pro

We explained why in the video!

@@HeadlightRevolutionyou didn’t explain anything. Just said it was brighter. Which is a lie lol it has a tighter beam pattern making it a hotter hot spot that’s it. The pros still have way more light output. Lol everything I hear in this video is you trying to shit on diode for some reason. Obviously you have a bias against them 😂

watch the other video, the sport was brighter than the higher end one@@neilmurphy4301

@@HeadlightRevolutionintensity and brightness are NOT the same thing. Your explanation is not valid.

I would go with the MoriMoto pod light given the smaller yet tougher shape and design with the Hades-hatred super bright light output from their product.

Our off road friends from down under have a company called STEDI. You should see their lighting technology.

Would've been nice to see the Diode Dynamics SS5 Combo tested in its Pro output level, stacked up against all the other lights in their fullest output capability.

One thing to always consider with HR, the are owned by the same parent company (formerly The Enthusiast Auto Group) as Morimoto and almost never give Diode Dynamics a fair shake when comparing products. That's coming from an XB LED owner with DD fogs on their vehicle.

like the morimotos better.The LP( is ridiculously big and looks stupid on front as a ditch light setup and if you use them on top on say a rack setup they look even more ridiculous and the price point is jus ta s ridiculous. The morimotos outshine the BD and look way better

They aren't ditch lights, they are driving lights.

@@paulelledge8977 Plus who cares about how bright a light is. The intense hot spot will actually wash out detail making the light actually a hazard. Baja Design is all about usable light to illuminate your view. This is why they use 5000k on the light spectrum. Lets also not forget uService, high/low function, back lighting and now available in 4 colors to name a few features.

@@dhrracer ditch lights vs driving lights are a lot more about area of coverage, and they aren't the same.
@KevPV
@KevPV 8 месяцев назад
@@dhrracer You get detail from the light source coming from a different angle than your POV as it creates shadows and contrast. Hotspots have nothing to do with detail. What matters is an equal spread of light since your eyes will adjust. Spots are just for that... spot beams that project far, not to be aimed right at the ground in front of you blowing out everything else. The Morimoto spots are much better for projecting far down the road. Detail comes from where you mount them. Everything above your POV will hide shadows and kill detail far more than an intense hotspot.

You guys put a lot of importance on pure Candela. Thats nice and all. But you gota think about driving with them. The Baja Designs certainly had the best looking pattern of light to drive with. If you just want pure intensity you are gunna need other filler lights to bridge the gap. Baja looks like they have gone for a light that was doing a lot of things well and nothing best.
@HeadlightRevolution
@HeadlightRevolution 5 месяцев назад
Someone else in the comments explained the Baja beam pattern really well! "Baja Designs has explained their spot beam is designed in such a way as to give the Offroad driver the potential to see multiple nearby terrain features, roadway imperfections and track obstacles behind each other. Like whoops for example. Baja designs does not want their spot beam to be too tight and get absorbed by the first whoop leaving the second, third, etc. and the following turns, curves, etc. out of view. If you need a tighter “spot” then this is were their “racer edition” or even “laser” series lights come into play. Their “spot” is truly a perfect pattern for Offroad driving."
