It’s difficult for my sister to arrange enough vacation from her job to be able to visit India (less than 2 weeks doesnt make much since especially considering the flight pricing etc) but lets hope she’ll be able to visit again soon enough! 🥹❤

Yes, different cooking styles, the water used even in rinsing, different bacterial strains... Even many Indian people get upset tummies when they eat out and Vinod's parents often tell us to avoid it! I like the soldier metaphor, a very apt comparison indeed! :D

Great vlog Johanna. I too am an ABSOLUTE beach lover like your sister. Sorry she got so unwell on the vacation. The actual beach u were on was BEAUTIFUL. Similar to you, I always went home at evening time when parties were starting whilst I lived in Gokarna. Also my hosts would worry if I was out after dark. And I myself was very happy to go home once sunset was over as the hosts cooked me a delicious thali and I would just chill out with the family and edit filming from that day. Looking forward to your next vacation as I do love your travel vlogs sooooooo MUCH. ❤ I will go back to India for sure. But I do know that I will need regular breaks from it. So I will also explore other places such as Thailand and Sri Lanka Namaste and blessings Kas ❤ Ps....... Just out of curiosity...... How will you and Vinod equip Annika for womanhood in India? Re many people in India tell me that marriage is compulsory and girls can not go out on their own. But you and Vinod are far more empowering than that. But India is v different from the West too and of course Annika will need to be cautious when she's a woman in India. Just curious dear on how you will explain things to her. Esp things like corruption and female disempowerment. I don't mean to be negative about India but it is common knowledge that women need to take precautions to be safe in India
I think all the beaches in Goa are extremely beautiful, I just don't necessarily enjoy some of the most crowded and noisy ones that much (gonna be showing that on an upcoming video too!) :D Too old for the party scene! Though now that I think of it, I don't recall Vinod and I enjoying it before becoming parents either. I did enough of partying in my early 20s :D Sometimes I think I should probably want to go out dancing and getting drunk to "unwind and relax" (a very common Finnish attitude) and almost want to try it, but when I think about it long enough, even the thought of it makes me nauseous! :D We are actually both already anxious about Annika growing up and becoming a woman (in india) because no matter how much we want her to become independent and self-reliant, we are of course scared for her safety etc and I don't want to let her out alone in the streets until she's maybe like 30 :D Not much more I can say about it at this point, as I'm maybe a bit too anxious about it to think about the long-term plan before she is actually big enough for more independence.
@@JohannaNorth oh dear Johanna that's difficult. You and me were both born and raised in Europe and entered India as adults and we have both had substantial time doing solo travel in India. But behind us were accommodation owners who protected us and also our home country consulates..... and people in India knew that. So any crimes towards foreign women could only go so far. With Annika she was born in India and has not entered as a foreigner so I guess being a woman alone in India will perhaps be different for her than it was for us. Would you consider moving to Finland for Annika's later years? I won't go on about it any more though as I don't want this to cause any further anxiety to you and Vinod dear. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Yes Goa beaches are ever so BEAUTIFUL. So were the beaches in Varkala and Gokarna. But in monsoon the beaches were full of rubbish. I think theres a litter problem in India. Iv also witnessed the burning of litter re plastic and it's most unpleasant. Iv no idea how to solve the trash problem in India! You have been to Goa in monsoon right. Are the Goa beaches litter free in Monsoon? By the way I can't wait for your next Goa vlog whooooop. Going out and getting drunk to unwind is also a British thing lol 😆 I used to do that but haven't done it for many years as I'm too much Into my yogic path.
@@travellingyoginikaswe do plan on moving to Finland in the next 5-10 years for Annika’s schooling (unless something unexpected happens), but would still like to spend a good amount of time in India too every year so as to make sure that Annika doesnt lose touch with her indian heritage. Maybe it will help that Annika gets to learn independence, self-reliance, survival skills and strength in Finland (like i did) and she’ll be able to take care of herself in India as a grownup 😊 and i will learn to deal with the anxiety of not being able to protect Annika every minute of every day (like my mom probably did back in the day!)
Hey you should try some other things like some widget spinner or some sort of cube or something to distract her instead to giving her phone as it would be very crucial for her mental health as well as her attention span would also increase I know it's very though to get a toddler to be switch to something more manual but it would pay off huge in the long term
I would recommend a holiday in Goa to just about anyone! It’s a very easy place to visit to indians and foreigners alike as it caters to all kinds of people 😊

I need a home environment even when on vacation 😅. Sorry to hear Nina got gastrointestinal issues. It's quite common for foreigners who are not used to Indian cuisine. I dealt with the same issue when in India.
Airbnb is definitely a great option for especially longer stays and absolute relaxation, more so when travelling with family or being a homebody :) Even many Indian people have digestive issues while travelling or having to eat out. My in-laws very often tell us to avoid eating out, which is a very common attitude especially in North India! But unless one is staying in an airbnb it is quite impossible to avoid eating out while travelling

I think it'd be lovely if she wanted to be a vet when she grows up and work for animal rights and conservation! Though I won't judge her if she wants to pick something a bit easier and less heartbreaking :) But she is definitely showing keen interest in such activities at this point

Fortunately my sister recovered after a few days of rest in her room and was able to enjoy the remaining holiday together and watch Annika pet animals and dance the days away! 😊❤
Why do Westerners get delhi belly most of the time? Is it because of spices or hygiene? I don't understand. I hope you didnt get the stomach bug since you are used to it. I feel sorry for Nina. I am sure she would have definitely realized with this stomach bug that India is definitely not her type (as you were saying in the earlier video), if not already.
As per my knowledge lots of indian people get the infamous Delhi belly too 😅 anyways, while i do agree that there are many situations where the exaggerated use of spices (and oil!) and hygiene can be to blame, it’s also just the fact that these two parts of the world have a very different bacterial strain which has a big impact on travellers’ digestion. I’ve got used to the Indian bacterial strain with the many years i’ve stayed here, and can brush my teeth or rinse my veggies with tap water (unpurified) without any fear of infections (which i still do occasionally get, like does any Finnish person in Finland!). But also i got super sick on my first trip to India as monsoon started in the mountains and as a result had chronic diarrhea for 2 years which made me lose 25kg all the way into pretty serious underweight and malnourishment. I’m still here though! 😅
I got Escherichia coli bacteria when in India. I had chronic diarrhoea for months. The situation hasn't changed much in terms of food consumption. Over time, my stomach has become sensitive to many ingredients.😢 I can't relax while eating outdoors. But today had Japanese cuisine with my friends. Hope nothing happens with my sensitive stomach🤞
The number of people suffering from baldness and diarrhea has always been high in Europe and historical evidence is available for this.Anyway, it is a mystery of nature that different diseases prevail in different regions.
@elisabetta4478 I also suffered from IBS symptoms several months even after the chronic diarrhoea got better and had to take daily 'medication' to try to normalise the situation. I had an Ayurvedic treatment for cleansing the digestive tract and getting rid of the daily medication, and can happily say that except for a few bouts of somewhat severe diarrhoea and constipation, I haven't needed medication or suffered from regular symptoms since 2020 Jan :) If you're able to find Ayurvedic professionals near where you live, you might want to try such treatment!
Lots of dogs in Goa have owners nearby or belong to the shacks even if they roam around freely :) And most strays all over India are fed by the locals of the community! Nov end - early March is the high season for beach holidays here :)
So good to see Annika growing into some independent activity with all the curiosity she has. Sad to have Nina come down with the stomach issue on her holiday. Yes probiotics are great whenever travelling basically anywhere! But my sister unfortunately has a very sensitive stomach and I think she already has to put effort into balancing it on a daily basis 😮💨 All pharmacies in India fortunately have all kinds of stomach bug medicine super easily and cheaply available, even i have to sometimes get something while travelling or when seasons and environments change! 😊

Welcome to Goa. Just a little heads up fyi. If this is your first time as might not be familiar. And maybe you have been to India...any how... Please excuse the Indians coming from other Indian States to Goa, to gawk at White people. Most have not see White people so they will stare and stare as most also come from poorer States that lack education to understand to be polite. They are unable to understand or pick up cues that you are uncomfortable with the staring. I have read the complaints on travel blogs from other tourists who are very put off by it. Sadly many women say they will not return to India because of it. The Germans value their privacy very much and are very offended. Goa used to get a ton of German tourists but they have stopped coming to Goa. A lot of Indian men will travel to Goa for the cheap alcohol, gambling and to look at White people (women). They mean no harm. Do not be afraid to say "No" to selfies as we know you all value your privacy. Their selfies are harmless, they are just to show off to their friends back in their home States that they befriended a White person, it elevates their status some. 😂 Do not feel bad when to say "no" to pictures with them, we completely understand. Most Indians do not understand privacy or personal space. Take the usual precautions and you will quite safe. If quieter beaches are what you seek, you could travel to the South. ps.Tip. You talked about the stomach bug. Try to always drink the very common 'Lassi' that is available at most restaurants..It is packed with prebiotics and probiotics that will fight off anything your stomach is not used to. Goa has some of the most beautiful sunsets on the Arabian sea. Enjoy!
I live in india for the past 7 years 😊 Vinod has even lived in Goa and i’ve also visited several times! Even our 2-year-old Annika has already had 3 vacations in Goa as we love the region so much 😊 i get stared at much more in many other regions than i do at Goa!

😅mom is speaking Finnish and dad is speaking English. Mom is Finnish but Dad ain't English. Request the dad to start speaking our Bharatiya language and inculcate Indian rich traditions like Mahabharata and Ramayana to Annika. Otherwise she will grow up to be neither Finnish or Indian.
I’m not sure how long you’ve been watching them but let me remind you that when they met for the very first time when Johanna came to India they went on a travel journey to the north of India. They’ve bonded over their common interest to travel ever since it seems. So they probably prioritize the travel more than other luxuries. But yes it definitely is costly to be travelling than staying at home but we know that RU-vid is good money tho im not sure at this point if it affords their entire cost. The way I see it,even if it does it’s kind of like an investment for their channel because it keeps the videos interesting. They might also be getting some cost reduction by the way of advertising the place they stay at so it can cut the price there too. Also, Vinod has to travel for work as well so some of the trips might be from his company. Either way, I’m glad they do, I get to see India’s hidden gems without spending a dime and have the family as great entertainment, especially cute Annika and papa’s adventures and Johanna’s voiceovers!
