Thanks for an absolutely wonderful experience Josh, Ollie and all the team. Blown away by all the lovely comments below. Had such a great time sharing food with new friends.
Thank you for coming through! I don’t eat beef but my mouth was watering throughout 🤤 It’s amazing that you’ve picked up a new skill and become so good at it just during lockdown!
Agreed...I'm from Sri Lanka and I discovered Korean englishman and Jolly last year on our first lockdown and they made my stressful bitter last two years so much better...And the sad part is no one of my friends knew about them..I don't think lot of people in my country know about them. They need to go Global. love ya guys.
Bill is soooo much better than a professional chef would've been. He's just a normal bloke who happens to be really obsessed with barbecuing and steaks. Unpretentious, passionate, and generous-the perfect complement to Josh and Ollie. Now, I need Josh and Ollie to take Bill AKA Meat Yoda to eat Korean BBQ. That I NEED to see. @JOLLY MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!
@@billmeatfirewhisky2780 I know you've got the 1 in 1 out policy with the missus, but seriously worth investing in is a hibachi and using binchotan as fuel. Gets a seriously high heat sear on the meat, develops a crazy crust and then the smokey flavour, honestly it's worth swapping out for the weber especially since you've got the kamado next to it.
I'v never heard the "9 months and ten days". I work with cows and if its one thing I have found out is they don't calve out wen you ask them too so the "9 months and ten days" would be more like "9 months give or take ten days".
Just hanging out with the butcher and her friend, filming a whole show at his house... Totally normal for Jolly Ollie found a sandwich guy and now he's found a steak guy in Edinburgh. I think he has a gift :D Cheers to Lindsay and Bill for being so gracious - Welcome to Edinburgh
Jolly: "Hey do you happen to know someone who's good at cooking steaks?" Butcher: "Oh sure there's my friend bill" *Proceeds to meet the most passionate steak cook ever*
But also, it makes a weird kind of sense that of course a butcher would know an excellent, super passionate meat cooking person? Someone who appreciates the work they do and vice versa 💞
Thank you so much Amelia - I had so much fun doing this. The whole team are such nice guys that it just felt like having friends over for dinner (if only I was cooking these kind of steaks all the time for my pals 😂)
@@billmeatfirewhisky2780 even just watching the video made it feel like you guys have known each other for a long time :) Happy for all of you that everything worked out !
I think that for you guys it would be a great opportunity to show off the locals. This may be Bill's start to turn his hobby to actual work passion if he wants to
Ollie: "So, we’re going to Bill’s house." Josh: "What? "We’re just going to his house?" HAHAHA. Josh, in all those years you've known Ollie I'm still amazed you still get shocked with how his mind works. HAHAHAHA
Kudos to Bill for being open to help cook steak on such a short notice xD also im not much of a steak person coz i hate to see it being so bloody and all, but the way Bill cooked it made me salivate so much
Galician blonde is such a special type of meat. And I'm not saying it because I'm from Galicia, but it is a quite unique taste. You don't expect something that smells that strong of beef to be that tender. I'm glad that you guys appreciate products from were I'm from ❤
the pro chef cancelling was the best thing that could've happened to this episode you guys should fly Bill and his wife down for some KBBQ steaks in London!
Bill: "Yeah, so it’s some guys, they make coloured barrels. You can have any colour scheme you want. If you want your face on it, I’m pretty sure they’d do that for you." Best thing Ollie ever heard that night. lol. Before we know it, he's got one for himself with a picture of him doing wacky faces and Josh's usual 'I'm-done-with-your-antics' face. HAHAHA
@@billmeatfirewhisky2780 First, I live in Indonesia. Second, we live in the pandemic era... oh well, wait for me knocking on your door in 10 years I guess! 🙋🏻♀️
Yessss!! next episode is up!! 😍😍😍😍 Just after Ollie explains to Josh that they are going to Bill’s house and then few seconds later, he says 0:58 We’re going to Bob’s house 🤣🤣 Hilarious 😂
The Scottish Angus x Wagyu beef come from the farm beside my house. They also have a restaurant in the village over that specialises in that special meat. A friend of mine took me there before Covid started for my birthday... It was very, very good. Hope you chaps had a jolly nice visit to Scotland.
I can't get over the fact that they just went to a strangers house to eat steak lmao Also the man has something to brag now, I mean he literally is the certified Meat Yoda now!
I don't even eat meat but Bill cooked those steaks to perfection ! I love how whoever you guys run into is always such a helpful and jolly soul like you two!
i love this, just how you asked a random person if they had a friend who is good at cooking steak and you just befriend strangers and have the most wholesome experience ever
@@damidoxgaming3891 Considering that 5ft 9in (175.3cm) is the average height in both the US and the UK, I think 6ft (182cm) is tall. 😅 Maybe because I’m only 5ft (152.4cm) tall, everyone else just looks really tall. 😂
What I really appreciate so much about you guys is how gracious guests and well-mannered you are when you interact with people. Like, you still have fun but you include everyone. I never have anxiety when I watch you haha there are some creators who are just awkward and kinda cheeky 😂 I can’t. ❤
i'm glad they decided to make this second youtube account bc i can see them thrice a week. that's nice. if possible i would want to watch their contents everyday. i survived lockdown rewatching their vids and i feel even more attached after. thanks guys. 💕
I love your content as the Korean Englishman introducing Korean Culture from your perspective to the world. However, I also love that you show UK some love and I hope that there will be more places, food and people that you show off from the UK! Cheers to Josh, Ollie and the team.
Just saying when a guy has custom knives or high end knives you can tell he's serious... Like what kind of person randomly has a San mai knife for a steak knife?
ever since i started doing editing and making documentaries in uni, all i can think about is the behind the scenes and the process that went into making these videos. love it
Seriously, Bill is AMAZING. He’s awesome in every way possible. What a guy! I also wish Gabie was there to try the steak as well. Please take her to Bill one day if possible! I would love to see her reaction.
Ollie can make anyone and everyone (who is actually cool) a friend. Love seeing him land the squad in a random Scot’s home for a truly once in a lifetime experience! He’s one helluva unicorn, and I love him to pieces! And Josh and the rest of the fam too! 💜
Honestly, thank you, guys. Been under the weather since Monday, living with parents due to unemployment, got a negative covid test, but then four people from the baptism we attended on the weekend got positive tests so now we're getting another one. Slept like 3-4 hours last night and feeling like whatever the opposite of those steaks are, but this cheered me up a bit. Much obliged. Also, Josh gets anime eyes whenever food is involved #untapped-editing-opportunities. Cheers from Sweden.
when i tell you their videos would always make me smile to the point i'd watch their videos at school :/ please take that as a compliment, you guys are doing really great :))
The guy at about 7:36 says it all, slowly chewing the steak with his eyes closed. You can tell by that Bill must be blessed in the ways of steak preparation.
I am living vicariously through you guys 🥰 Always wanted to visit where my ancestors came from (only three generations back) in Scotland but not sure I’ll ever get there. Thank you for sharing and taking us all on your journey ♥️
@@billmeatfirewhisky2780 I would love to, but raising kids is expensive enough. Don’t have the kind of money to take a European vacation, unfortunately. I’ve found the address my Great Grandmother grew up at in Glasgow, but a college sits there now. However, I’d still love to roam the area to walk in her footsteps. I found the address in Ireland of the man she’d go on to meet and marry later on in life, my Great Grandfather, and that is still a farm, probably not much different than the way it was when he grew there. When he was a teen, his family moved to Glasgow and that’s how they met. I’d love to go visit that address in Ireland too! On the other side of the family, I found the address in Liverpool, England of my Great Grandmother and the building still stands, another place I’d love to visit! I find the migration to America that my ancestors took from Scotland, Ireland and England very fascinating, it’s a great leap of faith. So I’d really love to be able to see and experience where they came from in real life rather than through words and pictures like I have been. My family on both sides, from grandparents passed on to my parents, have some unique traditions, attitudes and phrases, that aren’t very common American behaviors, I only learned as an adult are derived from their great parents roots. As we’re considered pretty new Americans, not considered immigrants anymore though, being I’m only 3rd generation born here. It’s a kind of in between existence. Yes, we’re American but not with very deep roots. Our deepest roots are the New York City neighborhood of Hells Kitchen for all of those generation born in America, my ancestors got off the boat at Ellis Island, made a very short travel uptown a couple of miles and settled in rough and tumble neighborhood Hells Kitchen, full of English, Irish, Scottish and German immigrants, to make it their home. So that will always feel like home to me, no matter where I go in life ♥️💪 But I sure do feel a pull to trace my roots outside of this country. I know just how proud my grandparents were of their own parents roots, recounting their harrows of moving to “the new world”, I’d really love to be able to experience where they came from too ♥️
Jolly (and Korean Englishman) always seem to have great fortune - which I am very happy about. Pro chef drops out but they end up with a regular bloke with great passion for steak. Similar to when Ollie got that big old car - which turned out to be the actual car from The Crown. (And then on the same Scotland trip, they had a flat tyre but then ended up at the best pie place in the world)
I need a meat thermometer! Thanks to Bill for sharing his knowledge and another fun video. I think I could listen to Bill talk for a day, I’m Canadian so love the accent.
Thanks Sandra - the Thermapen really makes it so much easier to get the steaks right. I know some amazing chefs who can do it just by feel but I wasn’t taking any chances with those wonderful steaks
Wow, how can you get, when the best laid plans fall through, but winging it turn out amazing Such an amazing episode, really looking forward to the rest of the roadtrip! Ps. I was totally with Josh when Ollie touched the bbq
I love how they just got stuck in no forks or anything... my props to Ollie he just kind of steps into these scenarios with his usual chaos and you get to see Bill cook up steaks as good as or better than a pro
Me does one chore and gets tired. Josh and Ollie : well we bought fancy sandwiches , took a trip to Scotland, stayed in the most non reachable airbnb , opening a restaurant and we went to Bill/Bob's house and had amazing steaks
This just proves how good they are at making connections, perfect people to do travel vlogs and Kudos to Bill for being down to help them. It looks delicious.
The professional chef that bailed out on this episode was the best thing to happen here. All props to Beef Yoda Bill MeatFireWhisky for cooking some amazing cuts of meat.
Scotland is like that - made out of amazing people and enchanting coincidences - it was like that for me for a decade, cannot wait to go back there as soon as possible
Ollie at 10:01: I’ve never had eggnog… Okay um… brace yourself to try the weirdest and most expensive eggnogs Josh because the look on Ollie’s face during this realisation concerns me
I have an idea for a KE series... Bring Korean food to Scotland! Introduce Bill and his butcher friend to some premium hanwoo with all the classic banchan 😋
I adore Rhett and Link's friendship, I thought that they were the bestest friends in youtube but Olly and Josh are kinda challenging that now lmao. The more that they are making jolly it's own thing, their creativity and love for each shines
