Mitch was one of a kind. A master of one liners. He would hit you back to back and sometimes you would have to watch it twice to really appreciate his jokes. They made you think first and then laugh.

At least twice. Matter of fact, I've heard some of these like 20 times and they get even funnier. This wasn't his best set tho, so these folks are probably thinkin "this ain't all that funny" 🤔 Cool Lennon shirt 👍😻✌

That was from “Comedy Central Presents Mitch Hedberg.” The unedited set is about 1hr 20mins of gold as he battles to win the crowd over. The edited 48 min spot is ok, but edited to hell and back, with no continuity to what actually happened.

My favorite. "An escalator can never break, it can only become stairs. You will never see an escalator out of order sign. You will only see an escalator temporarily stairs sign." -Mitch Hedburg. Another good one I loved. " I went camping with my girl and we got into a fight... I hate that. What are you supposed to do when you're angry in a tent? SLAM THE FLAP?!" -Mitch Hedburg

Not sure if it's something you guys would be interested in seeing, but there is a video called "Mitch Hedberg: Battling Stage Fright as a Stand Up Comedian (Video Essay)" that gives some backstory about the struggles he went through in pursuing a career in comedy while battling crippling anxiety and stage fright. I will say it's a somewhat sad story, so not sure if that's the type of vibe you'd want in a reaction video. Just wanted to let you guys know it's out there if you do want to see it!

The problem with reacting to Mitch is there are no clips of his actual specials on RU-vid. You only get his early stuff, edited TV appearances, or the full specials. Strategic Grill Locations is an amazing special and has a few longer format jokes. But the only video of it on YT is the full 49 minutes. If you could react to like the first 10 minutes or whatever, I'm 100% certain you'll be totally sold.

If you watch the videos available in YT of Mitches sets in the right order you can literally see his style developing. You can see him figuring out over time how best to present his one-liner style of comedy to the audience to get the best results. He started out pausing to see how each joke played with the audience. Pausing for applause. And he was elaborating on jokes to try to get another laugh out of it. By the end he was just running through them rapid fire and only pausing in response to the applause getting too loud to continue. Never pausing and hoping. And by that time the applause was getting so loud because the sheer number of funny things he was saying would pile up and it was like constantly pouring gas on a fire little by little: it just gets bigger and bigger, building on itself. Tragically he died relatively soon after he perfected his particular form of art.

His death was initially believed to be the result of a congenital heart defect present since birth, but in December 2005, the New Jersey medical examiner's office reported that he died accidentally as the result of "multiple drug toxicity", including cocaine and heroin I remember those days haha I've been clean for over a decade now, but I did $500 to a $1000 of the best cocaine and heroin you could possibly get, along with drinking and just chilled in my room with it for a few days until I needed more. Embarrassing really lol but I got through it.

Keep going with Mitch. In my opinion he's one of those hit and miss comics and the 2 you've done are NOT his biggest hitters to me. When he misses, it's meh. But when he hits he'll have you rolling
@stevebeeson4297
@stevebeeson4297 2 года назад
I actually believe that's a testament to how good he could be. Some just hit all the time. Chappelle could walk on stage, sneeze and walk off and the room will erupt and you'll walk out laughing without even knowing why it was so funny. But for Mitch to have gained such popularity despite his many misses tells you how good his real hitters must be. He was fearless and just went for it which is risky but it made him laugh so he did it

He died from medical issues exasperated by drug use and stress to put it plainly. He didn’t OD, but he had a heart defect. He had terrible stage fright and that wasn’t good for his heart, and his coping mechanism was drugs, not great either. So he had a heart attack, probably while using or drinking a moderate amount, I believe he was touring at the time.

In all honesty, listen to the albums. He hated having to censor for tv because he let words slip when he was flowing. Fuck is an adjective, verb, noun, adverb, pronoun, and preposition to him at times. It’s not excessive, it’s definitely comedic
