I love this series, especially that they took such a swerve. These are all such fun characters that seeing a new story with them is something I didn't realize I needed until i had it.

I don't think the film is required viewing for this, but the series definitely seems like a companion piece that compliments the story it told.

I think it’s a great show but basically a weird sort of sequel/companion to all the previous versions. Which is great!

The direction they took sent everyone off rails, and I loved it for that. I realize how this is such a O´Malley thing to do. I mean, the comics themselves were that weird and took unexpected turns when the first fight happens and the movie was like that was well. Even though it had that simple structure of "he beats the exes of the girl of his dreams like bosses of a videogame" the visual/meta jokes always caught me offguard and so it happens in this animated series as well.

This is by and far my FAVORITE reaction video I've seen to this series, especially since Lemon actually knew her stuff going into it 😅 I only just read the comics AFTER watching this show in its entirety. I had a lot of fun and totally agree with Brian Lee O'Malley about not just rehashing a story he already told. Great video, I'll go watch some more of your stuff. Y'all are talented and entertaining...but I also want to know how y'all felt through the rest of the show

Oh this is a delightful reaction I'm glad i found this channel. It was a surprise for me but i don't think I'd love it so much if it was just a rehash of the movie. In regards to shows with a phenomenal first episode I'd recommend Interview with the vampire on amc, it has one of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen. captivating and so well structured it could even work as a standalone short film

In answer to your question "Do you have to have seen the movie (or read the comics) first?" I'd have to say the answer if very much yes. The first episode does a great job of playing off that it's going to be a straight adaptation of the original story with a few minor changes here and there, then throws a massive swerve at you that only lands if you know what to expect

For me I am of two minds. First the great stuff ( I won't go into spoilers just in case ). The animation is absolutely amazing, I love it. I also loved the soundtrack as well. My issues are two things in particular. One, some episodes are really very dry and drag on, the stories did not all work for me and I was sometimes walking away and doing other things while the show was playing. The other thing that I had a problem with is some of the line reads were a bit off. Great job and I hope that you all enjoy it much more than I did.

Because I've seen Knives Out twice and Captain America: The First Avenger once, my association with Chris Evans is not Cap but Ransom... which is somehow *more* incongruous with Lucas Lee.

As someone who has worked for a graphic novel publisher, I've never enjoyed O'Malley's art style. And the publisher of his stuff Oni Press has had some payment controversy to say the least. I am a big fan of the movie, but that might be a mixture of the writing, performances, and editing. The jokes are so quick. O'Malley has said that he listened to what a good amount of fans thought and kind of catered to them. Correct me of I'm wrong but that's why Scott takes off and is on hiatus. My love for the movie is only matched by my annoyance of the fans and their opinions. Yeah, Scott is self centered and not a perfect dude but basically everyone (outside of maybe Kim) is borderline garbage in their treatment of others, even Knives. So, that said, I think the show is a miss. Not really funny and I once again don't like the style.

I don't need to watch this show. I've got the movie and the graphic novels to fall back on, okay?! I don't need this fucking series. Nobody does.
