If the fluid was changed before they left why wasn't the filter😂 that's the number one cause of transmission failures is neglect. And always read the fine print on warranties because warranties are the biggest scam out there Nationwide doesn't mean anything if there's not enough locations to bring your vehicle to
Thanks for going back and watching our journey with the transmission! I'll start this by pointing out that these videos are 2 years old, and we are WAY past this issue with the van. Our transmission did need replaced, and we've put about 20,000 miles on the new one and expect it to easily last the life of the van itself. I'd also like to point out that, for us, the nationwide warranty has been great. We found a small leak on the transmission shortly after returning home that year. A local shop fixed the issue and we were reimbursed for it quickly and easily through the warranty. Yes, our transmission failed because of neglect. I'm only aware of what happened with the van from 125,000 to 150,000 miles (my best friend owned it) and all we did was neglect that van. It honestly was not a surprise at all given how we treated the thing as teenagers. I take much better care of it now! And finally, I'm no expert, but as far as I know the 700r4 transmission has no shift solenoids. So, everyone claiming that was all that was wrong with it doesn't quite know what they are talking about. We ended up listening to the transmission shop who did an incredible job with our van and we've never doubted that we made the wrong choice on that front. Thanks again for watching our videos!
Good decision, K and K (and K - I am a HUGE fan of Klyde!) In the end, I'm sure it will be a relief to set out on your travels with a solid transmission under you even with the 3 week delay. Hope it all goes smoothly :) I love the way each of your videos is divided into titled chapters and the waiting around sequence was so much fun to watch. Thank you!
Aww Klyde really is the best!! Yes that is so true, it will be a big relief! Thank you we really appreciate that! :) we also really appreciate hearing you like how the videos are divided into chapters! It's something new we've been trying recently so it's nice to hear feedback on it! The waiting around sequence was so much fun to film!
Ouch!!! Sorry to hear Henry's tranny is bad.. At least you guys had the means to fix it. We've been across the country and had breakdowns and were stuck until we hustled it up or a blessing came along.. Good luck kidz, don't go stir crazy.
Good luck guys. At least you guys still get to sleep in Henry. We also full time vanlifers in South Africa and I known the feeling when something goes wrong with your home🤗
Thank you so much! Yeah we are so happy we still get to sleep in Henry until he goes into the shop! Ohh that's so cool!! It's nice knowing someone else can relate! 😊
Shoot, too bad you weren't here a couple of weeks ago! Our van is actually in the shop now getting the transmission replaced with a reman. Should be getting it back soon!
@@kaydeandkatrina well its all good, atleast you guys know you'll be safe next trip. I just bought our second van, I paid $600 for it. The thing only has 83,000 miles it is doing the same thing yours is doing. I ordered the kit to rebuild the valve body. I'm gonna build this van and sell it to fund the build in the van we will travel in. I hope to run across you guys on the road. Y'all are awesome man.
Our van has almost 160,000 on it with very limited tranny maintenance from the previous owners. We shouldn't have any transmission problems after this. Good luck with your van build(s)!
Just think, Henry will be good as new when he has surgery. 💙 Then back on the road! My favorite part of this video was chapter 2, “the waiting period!” Omg you made me laugh!!! 😂😂😂
I think you guys made the right decision! A significant investment, but I think it'll pay dividends later on. Sometimes we have to go back a few paces to be launched forward 🚀
