@@bthsr7113 A new Mario game, New Mario Party, New Zelda and New Metroid and this dude is nitpicking the couple remasters lol. How many games does Sony/Xbox have coming during the same time period? My dusty PS5 that should be popping off during its peak is asking.
Alicia, the general gaming community was promised Metroid Prime 4 as far back as 2017. Them ending this direct with Prime 4 was DEFINITELY the strongest note to end on!
Honestly that MvC collection was the biggest announcement to me... it's not that I didn't love the other games... it's just those two companies had a BAD split after MvC:I and it was thought they'd never work together again! I gotta believe MaximillianDood's #FreeMvC2 campaign had a lot to do with this getting released! Marvel 4 here we come!!!
Fun fact! It’s actually illegal in Japan for a dragon quest game to release on a weekday, because people actually skip school and work just to play this game
This is false. Thats just an urban myth spawned by a misunderstanding. Not an official law, but a self imposed morale rule Enix started to follow because of the impact and disturbance their DQ release had.
This isn’t actually true. Just a myth. They do release on Saturday and there was an issue of kids skipping school to play the game but it’s more along the lines of it just being easier to make an event of a release on a weekend and not cause hassel rather than weekday. They were not required to do so and there is no “dragon quest” law.
I'm sorry, she's never even HEARD of the Mario & Luigi series!? WHAT IS THIS HERESY!? We absolutely NEED her to react to some or play some M&L stuff, she has no idea how much she's missing out on
First case is usually enough to get someone hooked. It really shows what the whole thing is about. I personally think the third case slows down A LOT and it also over stays it's welcome. Don't get me wrong, I love the Steel Samurai, but man, I think that case is a "love it or leave it" moment.
About like 99% of fantasy anime/manga/light novels within the last decade and a half are obscenely inspired by Dragon Quest. Konosuba and Frieren included. I have to assume that children in Japan today are being born with memories of their parents playing Dragon Quest for the first time etched between the introns of their DNA like some Xenogears type shit.
Konosuba isn’t, but it does have a DQ reference or two. Most of it is inspired by Final Fantasy (mostly 7 and related), a game called Wizardry, and an infamous eroge (there’s also TTRPG elements and SAO and reincarnation genre parodies.) In a Japanese interview, Wizardry is what influenced Akatsuki the most as they just encountered it in Japan randomly. Combatants, for example, is based on MGS and Zack from FF7 Crisis Core.
For those who don’t know, the Mario and Luigi series has been a long running series with its first game on the Gameboy Advance, two games on the DS, and two games and two remakes on the 3Ds. It’s a beloved series due to its unique visual style, a killer soundtrack, and a very well done combination between both RPG and platformer elements. The reason it’s return is such a big deal is because after it’s second 3ds remake, the third party company that made them, called Alphadream, went bankrupt. Leaving the series dead in the water and capping off the series with a final total of 5 main entries and 2 remakes. Despite this, the community was still very active years after its bankruptcy, with many new people still getting into the series and playing the games. The community had accepted this situation and were sad but content with the great games they had received over the years. UNTIL THIS DIRECT. MARIO AND LUIG HAVE BEAT DEATH BABY!!! (PS: This is also the first Mario and Luigi on a home console and the first one in full 3D)
Honestly, I'm sort of curious why Nintendo didn't push the series to a new publisher. Like it's a Nintendo owned IP, I can't imagine they would've let another company have any ownership of a Mario IP based game, and the games have always seemed like the community is super positive on them. I assumed Nintendo would've just...shoved it to someone else to have it done.
@@entryofemotion12 I think Nintendo is just quite strict with who they hand their IP’s out to. When a company makes a game for them, they will usually rely on that company for all future instalments as well, like Paper Mario, Luigi’s Mansion And Mario Strikers. (All still being made by Intelligent Systems) and Kirby (Still being made by HAL Laboratories). I did want to talk about that point you made on the positive reception. As, yes, the series is incredibly well loved, It’s last game, the Bowser’s Inside Story remake, was a bit of a flop, and for a number of reasons. It came straight after the remake of the first game, Superstar Saga, but unlike that game which was only available on the Gameboy Advance, Bowser’s Inside Story was a DS game, one fairly well into the DS lifespan as well. People were upset that it wasn’t a new game and that it was too recent for a remake and that it looked ugly in comparison to the original. It was the worst selling game in the series.
@@inkstar7521 I agree with that, and if it hadn't been a matter of the company going out of business, I think they likely would've let them continue on making games. But that's why I find it even more interesting that Nintendo didn't go to one of the companies they do often work with on other IPs with this specific series.
It's anime junk food. Fun in limited amounts, but when you get to the crumbs in the bottom of the bag between big bites, or have too much, it gets old fast. But every now and then it is a delightful indulgence.
As someone who actually enjoys RPGs I haven't either. I tried out one of the first ones and just...something about them didn't hook me like Mario RPH did. I had the same problems with the Paper Mario series.
@@entryofemotion12I guess it’s just the clever idea of actually putting interaction within the combat system (I.E. Pressing specific button prompts and timing them to do an attack or dodge one) instead of watching character 1 use a ultra cinematic move and taking hits without actually defending yourself. Plus the way they wrote Mario and Luigi as a character from game to game is just charming. Luigi being such a little goofball is my favourite thing in any Nintendo game
1:27 don’t get your hopes down about co-op yet, the first Mario&Luigi game, Superstar Saga for the gameboy advance, had 2 player co-op if you played it on the gamecube’s gameboy player, there just hasn’t been co-op since then since the other games are on DS and 3DS, but since Brothership is on a console, it might have co-op
If going off the first Ace Attorney game, if you have the foresight on what you're doing and focus on the main objectives, it'll take roughly 18 hours.
@@shadowofdimentio4618 No, I mean starring as the main character of a game. The CDI games are official and two of them have her as the main protagonist.
She was the main character in Spirit Tracks and is hanging out with Link for the entire game, but this is the first time where she seems to be the primary playable role in the franchise.
Nintendo has dominated this generation and this direct was just proof that they are farming Ws to make up for all their past Ls. i just wish they'd stop screwing over fan game projects and emulation.
Their doing Dragon Quest remake the way they did the Live A Live Remake, in a voiced HD-2D style. Which by the way everyone here, including Alicia, should play because its story is one of a kind.
I appreciate that there are people unfamiliar with Mario & Luigi, which is understandable given that it's been about nine years since the last game. The lore is quite compelling btw... if you ask me frfr.
Mario and Luigi is such a good series. I thought we'd never get another game since Alphadream shut down so this is by far the best news of this Direct for me, even if I'm very excited for Zelda and Dragon Quest too. Since you're not familiar with the series I recommend checking it out. The first game should be available on the Switch in the GBA catalogue and I'd love to see you play it.
I loved a lot of what I saw but Legend of Link (I don't care what anyone says, thats the name) Echoes of Wisdom got me vibrating, I've been waiting for a game in the series where you play as Zelda and the fact they retooled the systems in the way they did for Zelda (who's piece of the triforce is wisdom after all) is really cool. Got me hyped in a way I haven't been in years for a game. Still no pre-orders but I'm excited to see it in action!
For real. It's been SO long since the original(A PS2 release) that I'm surprised they returned to the series other than a re-release, AND it's not even THAT far out! I'm a little disappointed it's so similar to the D6 and 7 art style since I am NOT a fan of their swap to 3D characters, but I DO like the series enough to give it a shot, and hopefully we see another game in the series if it does well! Now I just need to see some FE Remakes come up for the games we didn't get in the west and Nintendo is rolling all W's for me!
4:52 for a brief rundown if you’re interested, fairy tail is essentially just one piece But with wizards and sorcerers. It’s really fun and engaging with great characters, phenomenal moments of development and relationships, hype moments, a soundtrack that was made by Jesus himself, and plenty of laughs. It’s considered to be one of the greats in shonen next to the big three and Dragon Ball. Getting a 1000 year blood war treatment, and getting a new anime next month! It has gotten a lot of unnecessary heat over the years, but it is definitely a really fun series. And my personal favorite tide with one piece. If you have any free time, when not doing reactions I suggest checking it out.
I, am, so ready for Mario and luigi brothership. After Alphadream went bankrupt we thought the series was dead, but with the Thousand year door remake the mario rpg fans are eating good!
2024-1991=33 years of waiting for this Zelda game. Man it looks amazing and I cannot wait... might need to play Caidence of Hyrule in the mean time get my brain working different.
We've got a whole lot of RPGs coming and despite the objections of my wallet I am looking forward to many of them. Also show of hands, who here would like to see Alicia do reactions to Fairy Tail?
You haven't played the Mario and Luigi games? You REALLY should. They're an amazing franchise.^^ As you saw from the gameplay, there's lots of button presses for dodging and countering attacks. They're very creative.:D
2025 is gonna be a great time for me. Monster hunter wilds and Metroid prime 4 are my big highlights for gaming. For this year very much looking forward to M&L Brothership. That series has always been fun, and it'll be interesting to see how this one ends up since alphadream shut down. The actual Zelda Zelda game also has piqued my interest. Gonna cause some mayhem in that one.
Seeing what we did already, it doesn't even look like it's a Switch game. It looks like it could've been on any other console with how well they've handled it so far. I'm super excited to see how it does.
Btw i highly recommend the Turok series they are so good Best to get the remastered versiona cause playing the n64 version with a pro controller is kinda rough
The N64 version has some horrendous view distance issues for me that REALLY put me off of the series personally. I always wanted to give it a shot, but even in this direct that grey fog is SO close to you it feels like. What series was the remaster on? I might look into that since i didn't know it ever got one.
Ace Attorney games are a bit long but they're fun as hell and a good audience draw. So they're good if you want to play alone or stream. For everything else there's always the anime.
Fun fact about hobbits: they don't wear shoes because they have no need for them, the tops of their feet are naturally very fuzzy and the soles are very very thick skinned
It’s MARVEL BABY!!!! Time for Marvel Vs Capcom 2, to try and be the best. I wonder Lythero and the boys are gonna do a video of this when it comes out.
Alicia you are consistent on twitch AND youtube so you are my new favourite Vtuber so here take my favourite Vtuber crown *gives crown* (but seriously you are literally PERFECT for content creation your whole personality and everything is perfect for making streams and videos honestly it’s like you were born for creating content)
I really liked Tales of Besseria. The set a mission and have it done in IRL time factor was great. Save and get ready to leave and start a mission with the ship. Come back from work and get a bunch of stuff as the ship completed the mission. Plus liked the story.
Did they officially say that? Because from a business standpoint that would be one of the stupidest things they could do to kill off their console sales before a new one dropped. Especially taking the initiative telling people that there is NO successor information coming from this direct.
How act more excited to a new Mario Party that the MVC collection, we already got like 2 mario party games on switch its not exactly a surprise pick. Not mad just find it kinda funny, ive played mario party much more than marvel but marvel coming back is like an impossible dream come true
A new install to the Mario and Luigi series?! LET’S GO! If anyone else is excited let me know your favorite one of the games mine is ‘Bowers inside story’
Hobbits do not like shoes... nor do they need them as the shire is PC as hell. like no danger unless your Took enough to wander like a hooligan. Chill Shire Game... you got my interest.
The original Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney trilogy isn't too long, (I've only played the original trilogy) tried to get into the great ace attorney ones but they definitely dragged on, but original is good (kind of want to check out investigations as Edgeworth is one of my favourites)
DKC 1-3 are still my fave platformers of all. The Challenge was just right. hard but not impossible... except the few levels that only pissed me off. Stupid saw quit coming so fast. So a new one... always good to see.
You should play the ace attorney franchise. The story wrighting is so good especially the plot twists. If you love mystery games and solving crime, ace attorney is the best game I can recommend
