I’m for the uk, we take 18 classes, and we have an A week and a B week, so we have 5 lessons a day, (this is years 7-9 so 6th-8th grade : Lesson 1 Lesson 2 Break time Lesson 3 Lunch Lesson 4 Lesson 5 The subjects we take are: english, maths, Physics, chemistry, biology, geography, history, RS (religious studies ), art, dance , drama, music , ict , games, pe , French/German, Spanish(compulsory), Latin/classics. For GCSES (years 10-11 so 9th-10th grade) : we take 10: •Your chosen language (French for me) •maths • English lit • English language • 4 options (mine are history, art, rs, ict) • double science (2 lessons) • pe If you do triple science you only have 3 options. Also double and triple science are the same thing (all biology, chemistry and physics) but double science is in less detail and so it counts for 2 lessons instead of 3 And then years 12-13 so 11-12th grade you do 3 or 4 subjects

Emily B yeah I was wondering about that, why do you have different types of maths like algebra 1 or 2 or trigonometry etc we just do maths in general, I’m in year 9 going into year 10, and we’ve already done algebra and trigonometry, we need to go into a little more depth but we have done it? Like in our maths we have units that we do that can take up 1-4 lessons depending on what it is, and then we do a test after around 5-7ish units have been done, and then we have the end of year which is of the 20 something units we did

Millie Sheriff algebra 1 and 2 are different classes and algebra 2 is more advanced I think. A lot of states have very different schooling educations. I live in a different state then they do and I know that in my local high school there is math 1,2,3 and another higher ranked math for seniors called Discrete math I believe. But I have no ideas what kind of math you do.😂 also we do have AP classes as well like Brennan

That's actually not 100% true. We are able to elect classes we are interested in, for example science, languages, sports, history and things like that. Especially in high school. The variety in the US is bigger, but we have some choices here too.

Calla Elise in england we pick what we take for our GCSEs in year 10 + 11. I personally think it’s a waste of school having classes like guitar, weight lifting, Discussion classes and stuff like that.

I don't live in America but my school is one of the only schools that has periods and grades (normally we just have percentages instead of grades and we don't have 'periods'

For me we have something similar, We have A days and B days School starts at 8 and we got to advisory for 10 minutes then a 5 minute passing period, then 1st period 2nd period lunch then gym then 4th period, both days. So we have 6 classes (90 minutes each) and a 45 min lunch and 45 min PE. Rn (I'm a freshmen) this is my schedule. A days: 1st period: AP Human Geography 2nd period: Honors English II(did honors one in 8th grade) 3rd period: Lunch+Gym 4th period: Honors Physics(my school does physics, chemistry, then bio instead of most schools that do bio chemistry physics). B days: 1st period: Honors Geometry 2nd period: Honors Beginning Choir (each year we have to take a language, plus our 4 core classes (we choose our social science class freshmen year) as well as an art/music class of our choosing. 3rd period: Lunch+Gym 4th period: Honors Spanish II(did spanish one in 8th grade)

we actually have a wicked similar schedule i have even and odd days with 4 classes each and after 1st period we have a period called flex where you go to any teacher for help and homework stuff but my schedule is 1- free 2- free 3- trigonometry 4- free 5- latin 2 6- anatomy 7- world studies 8- world studies and i work in the morning before school starts :)

Freshman schedule :) • School starts at 8:05 • school day is broken into “blocks”, each block lasts for an hour and a half and there are 4 blocks • 3 different lunches ( I have 2nd lunch which is about halfway through 3rd block ) • School ends at 3:30 • Volleyball Practice from 3:30-5:30

I’m in Year 8 in Australia so I think it’s between 8th and 9th grade for you guys. I’m doing advanced maths, English, general science, humanities, French, Chinese, music/drama, art, food technology and pe/swimming/health. The only options we get are with languages until Year 10.

It’s crazy how different school there is to school here in the UK. I’d love to see a video of you guys comparing British and American schools. Only a handful of schools here are called high schools. They used to be called grammar school but I went to comprehensive. We started lessons roughly 8:45am and finish at 2:45pm, and we leave school at 16 years old. It’s like nursery, primary school, comprehensive school, college and then uni. Or some skip college and go straight to university. Which I’m guessing is your college

I’m going into junior year just like Brennan, and I’m taking just 3 ap classes this year(physics, apush, and Lang&comp). And Katie, the only way the ap classes count as college credit is if u actually pass the ap exam in May. So we all have to actually study and pass the test for college credit (luckily, I got a 3 in ap European history my sophomore year ☻)

this year I’m a junior.. and recently moved to a whole new state, and well my classes are honorable classes so basically AP. I think there’s block days where if in science your doin a lab, you get two class periods, to work on you lab ig. I’m not sure exactly how it works but I’ll find out..

I’m a junior. I’m only taking Algebra 2 and Geometry now because I did Algebra 1A and 1B (Algebra 1 over the course of 2 years). I did that cause I was bad at Pre-Algebra and thought I would be bad at Algebra. Turns out it was just the teacher. 😑

I am a senior and my school has Block Schedule also. I also don’t need to take a math class as I advanced in math and got my credits early. A Day: Anatomy and Physiology Lunch Peer Assist Leadership AP Government and Economics Color Guard B Day: Off Period (No Class) Lunch AP European History AP English 4 Color Guard

I think AP is similar to the UK A levels. People normally take A levels at a sixth form or college. Because the subjects are taught in such depth usually people take 3 , sometimes 4 (this is often further maths) , this taught in 2 years but is not compulsory and often people taking a levels get free periods to self study . The grades from A levels then go on uni applications. Uni's often look at the subjects you've taken for example for an engineering degree you will need maths and possibly physics at a certain grade to get in along with your 3rd subject . Any way back into it my day during sixth form started at 9am and finished at 4pm , this included a 20 min break and a 40 min lunch. There were 6 periods which I had some days where all periods had lessons in and others where the majority was a study period and I could go to the libuary or home (only in the last year though)

Here in Portugal we have a much more packed schedule. It’s actually insane. And we can choose three different courses that already have predetermined classes. You either choose. Visual Arts, Economics, Science or Languages and Social Studies. We all have four classes that are the same for everyone which is Portuguese, Philosophy, English and P.E. and another one we can choose (psychology, sociology, law, literature) then depending on the course you get different classes. Math is mandatory too: advanced Math (science and economics), normal Math (visual arts) and statistics (social studies). For instance in Visual Arts you get Drawing, Geometry and Art History. For Science it’s Psychics, Chemistry and Biology. For languages and Social studies which was mine course I had Geography, World History and French. Basically we would start as 8:00AM and sometimes finish at 6:00PM. I like the American method better, allows kids to pursue hobbies and other activities instead of wasting their time in school all day.

I’m in Katie’s grade and my schedule is 1st semester: Ap seminar / English 2 H French 2 Biology 1 H GIS Technology 2nd Semester: Ap seminar / English 2 H Algebra 2 H Ap World History Drivers ed / sociology (I have to switch that to a different class) My middle school kinda sucked because I didn’t get to take high school courses in 8th grade besides algebra 1 haha but good luck to Ryan for taking French! It was pretty hard but it is fun learning a new language and exploring a new culture with it!

Dang next year is my senior year and it will look nothing like this wow. Since my school is private and is christian it’s crazy, but this is what my senior year will look like next year...... Bible, English, pre calc, sociology, and maybe another science since I love science.

A 7.30 start is so early! What time do you finish? In my country its 9am start, 15min break at 10.30, lunch at 1.30 for an hour, finish at 3.30pm.

My schedule for 9th grade: Period 1: Forensic science Period 2: English Period 3: pe/health Period 4: Algebra honors Period 5: Civics honors Period 6: Chorus Period 7: French My school starts at 7:25 and ends at 1:45, we usually have 5 classes a day for an hour, so we always drop 2 of our classes every single day except for the first 2 days of school.

Liam Jones I used to start at 9 and end at 3 in elementary school but once you wake up at 6:00 a few times you’ll start getting used to it.

The American schooling system is very different when compared to that of the British schooling system (and other international schooling systems). I reckon with the absence of Katie's helpful explanations of abbreviations like AP (including how it contributes to your system of GPA) and how an average American high school day functions, I'd be in a state of utter perplexity and confounded with the volume of vague terms thrown around in the video. I think it would be a very good suggestion for Katie (and perhaps Brennan) to explain the American schooling system on the main channel or her own second channel but in a more simplified and comprehensible manner (essentially in layman's terms) for those of us whom are not from or living in America at this present moment.

That whole block schedule, different classes different days thing is very interesting. When i was in high school the closest we had to that was between Wednesday and Thursday. We had early release on Wednesdays here so we would have 3 classes on Wednesday and 4 classes on Thursday. All the other days we had all 7 classes O.O Your way of scheduling seems a lot better. Also dannng Brennan, I only took one AP class and that was AP Environmental Science. One of my favorite classes actually. But I struggled a lot acedemically in Middle/High School so I wouldn't have been able to handle AP and Honors classes very well. You rock Brennan! Good job!

I'm so confused by the us school system 😂😂 I'm from Ireland going into 3rd year and I have 9 classes a day and have 12 subjects over all if I was in the us I think I would be in 10 grade and I start school at 9:00 and finish at 4:00 I have 3 classes then small break then I have another 3 classes then big break then another 3 classes then I go home my days could consist of having a double of a subject so like I could have a double history or geography and that would be two classes Also I take very very different classes and we dont have any classes like ye do in the us this is also a very important year for me because I'm doing my junior very which is a state examination. These are the classes I take : English Maths History Irish (our native language ahhaa) Geography Spanish Business (accounting and statistics) Home economics (it is like cooking) Science(I take all 3 sciences until next year ) C.s.p.e (civil social political education) S.p.h.e( social physical health education) Pe (gym as ye call it ) So I got school 5 days a week Monday to Friday and there us a big difference in subjects from different countries!!

Yep. Don’t understand it either. Classes from 09.00 to 16.05 with 50 mins for lunch as two sittings. No free time during the day. Music lessons or extra sports at weekends. Tons of homework every day. 🇬🇧

my classes junior year are: chemistry french us history american literature and composition (english) my school does block scheduling so we have the same four, 90 minutes classes every day for a term (quarter) of the year

I'm from Australia. Going into year 12. We have 4 periods a day - period 1&2 then break period 3 another break then period 4. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday I take - English, mathematics, biology and agriculture. Then on Tuesdays and Thursdays we have study days or take courses that give us proper qualifications. I'm most excited for biology cause I want to get into nursing.

Lol you guys made me laugh in 7th grade we had an old Irish teacher for reading. Having 4 brothers I was just one of the guys. We her for reading nd english with lunch between the two. We would shoot spitballs at her and she would yell at the boys. After lunch the sun would shine in our class. I would use my watch to blind with the sun. Of course I didn’t do it. Best day was when she went into het Irish tirade and her girdle broke. Same thing happened in other classes.

It’s crazy to see the differences and similarities....my school starts at 7:45am and ends at 2:35pm cst. In my school each grade is somewhere throughout the school just waiting for the bell. I’m a junior this year, and I take regular classes one honors. But at my school you can take DE (duel enrollment) and AP. DE is like a class where a professor teaches the class and it’s only on specific days. My schedule is 1. Study hall 2. US history 3.Bible 4. Algebra 2 5. (H) Chemistry - lunch right after for a good 30min 6. English 7. Honors advanced art

Im so jealous of your school system! In Hungary we have 7-8 classes a day which are 45 minutes each. And we have only 15 minutes breaks and one 20 mins for lunch. When I was in 9th grade, my usual day looked like: 1, Math 2, Grammar, 3: Literatur, 4: Chemistry, 5: Phyisics 6:Biology 7: Geography. Other days were PE, Art, IT, Music, History, Media, 2nd and 3th language, for me it was english and german. We had a lot of tests, almost every day. We could use a calculator only from 9th grade. Our school started at 8 am and usually ended around 15 PM. Then at home we had to learn so much for the next day, it was overwhelming. Sometimes I studied till 10 PM cause it was the only way to get good grades. Hungarys school system is outdated and it sucks. We learned so much more than we need. Anyways, have fun this year!

My high school in spain we go start at 8 at 11 we have a 30 minute break and then we hae class until 1:30 pm and then on mondays, tuesday and thursday we go to have çunch and at 3 pm we have classes until 5 but on wedneys and fridays we don't have classes at the afternoon

I’m in college still working on my bachelors degree in criminal justice. This semester I chose to take one class because criminal law is kinda hard and I felt I needed to just focus on this one by itself.

Do you have the option for dual enrollment....taking college classes while in highschool. My daughter (15) is doing that. She also has one A.P. class but the downside of A.P. vs dual enrollment is that you have to take a test and pass with a high percentage in order to get the college credit.

junior in college, semester 1. public health and food science double major Monday: calc (12:20pm), biochem (2:30), food toxicology (4:00), concert band (7:30) Tuesday: junior year writing (10:00 am), epidemiology (1:00 pm), work (3-8pm) Wednesday: calc, biochem, food toxicology Thursday: jr year writing, epi, product development seminar (4:00) Friday: calc, work (2:30-6pm) Next semester it'll be different, plus I also have pep band and research next semester!
