FUN FACT: IV drips don't actually leave needles in your arm. There is a needle when inserting the drip to your arm but the needle comes out and it's an almost catheter-like siliconey tube left in your arm.
I'm LDS (Mormon) and we can have caffeine 😂 I think some parents have that rule in their house and it's more common in LDS families. The actual suggestion from our church about caffeine is to stay away from coffee because it can be addictive and we are advised to stay away from addictive substances, ie alcohol, drugs, etc.
Just to add a little clarity to that, the LDS church, as part of their doctrine, have a standard by which is called “The Word of Wisdom”. This is taught to be Gods commandments to live by for the physical and spiritual benefits of its members. In the church doctrine it reveals that that “Hot drinks” are not for the belly or the body. It was later presented that “Hot drinks” refers to coffee and tea but is not specific as to the reason being caffeine or something else. I think most church members have their own take away and interpret it how they feel is most applicable to their understanding. Therefore some families choose not to drink caffeine, some include not drinking dark drinks of any kind etc.

Just wanted to let Carly know that a needle does NOT stay in your arm when you get an IV. It’s just used to access the vein and then a small cannula like a straw stays in your arm. If that makes it any better lol
I remember when I was in labor with my son 8 years ago and I was worried about the IV because I had to have pictosin injected so I had an IV the whole time and just so anybody knows pictosin is what they use to induce labor but anyways the nurse calmed me down once I found out this.. which thank God because I was in labor for 34 hours LMAO

Utah did up the alcohol percent in beer and wine coolers to finally match the rest of the country. This just happened a few years ago. You can buy beer at gas stations on Sunday but all the liquor stores are closed. And 1am is the cutoff for purchasing beer and coolers at gas stations and also the last call at bars. And you guys are right, there is SUPPOSED to be a separation of church and state but Mormons pretty much run the whole state so...🤦 Being a Utahn I thought I would comment haha Love the podcast!! i was born and raised in vegas & born and raised in the mormon church. i never "left" the church but i am not longer active and i dont thing id ever become active again. There are a lot of interesting things about the church but also a lot of things that are taken out of context. I love answering question when people ask because my family and i were very active but not longer are so its a fun perspective to have.

I watch a lot of the family vloggers and most of them live in Utah. Utah is full of soda shops and they treat it like a starbucks, instead of going to get their morning coffee they go get a morning soda! I have tried one of the recipes and it’s actually so good. It was a dr. pepper with raspberry purée and coconut cream creamer! You should try it next time you are in Utah!
Ladies, nurse here! Just wanted to clarify, the needle does not stay in your arm, once they place the IV line it’s just a plastic catheter in there no needle, and second, more IV’s do not put you at more risk for blood clots (if anything a VERY small risk not something we worry about even at the hospital where people have IVs for long periods of time), we worry more about infection but if it’s performed with clean/sterile technique and removed after the sitting you’re good! Just wanted to clarify, LOVE YOU!! 😘

Love the podcast ❤️ 😘 so as someone that is apart of the LDS or “Mormon” faith I really appreciate that you guys genuinely want to learn more and I totally agree that you should do so with someone who is fully in it and passionate! People looooove to bash on Utah, and I think they need to realize that if you go anywhere that has a majority of one thing you are going to get every single personality, the good, bad, horrible, amazing etc. religion should be a very personal thing, it’s about you and god, and we are taught that constantly in the church, however everyone is different and they will interpret it how they want, and they will live how they want to live. Being born and raised in Utah, I’ve seen every type of personality in the church, but I stay in it because I want to, not because others want me to. It so sucks that people have bad experiences, but that will be with anything and anywhere. Figure out for yourself how you want to live, whether that’s in it or not and don’t if you don’t want to! Also yes the church has weird practices, but so does eveeeeery single religion on this earth. If it’s not something for you and don’t like it, then don’t participate, it’s literally that easy. Those practices are meant for those who genuinely WANT to do them, and it’s not for everyone to bash just because it’s not for them. Everyone preaches acceptance and I don’t think it’s fair to single out a certain religion. Do what’s best for you! Let people live how they want to live with out criticism. Unless there needs to be action taken on a certain person and they need to be held accountable for any reason then obviously yes, but it should based on that person not the religion as a whole. Yes Utah has a problem with separating church and state and I completely agree that, that needs to be fixed. But again, when there is a majority of one thing, especially with similar beliefs that will bleed into other things. Everyone is like that with whatever they believe! Anyways love the podcast, sorry for the soapbox moment, I just feel like yes there are faults, but everything evolves with time. Figure what’s best for you as far as what YOU believe and let others do the same.

I have so much to say! I can educate you on Mormons. I was raised Mormon but am considered “inactive” because I don’t go anymore. My family is still very much in the religion, I’ve had 2 brothers out of my 12 siblings that have gone on their mission. So you are right, they don’t drink caffeine or alcohol because anything that’s addictive is a no go. They treat their bodies like “temples”. Meaning pure and clean. And as far as your friends dad, he was what we call “excommunicated” that doesn’t mean the church turns their back on you. It means they give you a chance to make the choice to rejoin by getting baptized again and if you’re a drug addict you won’t willing join again because you’re not treating your body like a temple. There are commandments that they go by and so they leave it up to you to make the choice to follow them. You can drink caffeine, some members do, they just recommend you don’t. Carly an IV isn’t a needle! There’s a flimsy thing piece of plastic inside needle, the needle goes in your vein and releases the plastic piece that stays inside and the needle comes out. And then the fluids go through that thin piece of plastic into your veins! It’s so flimsy and soft to the point where you can even tie it into a knot if it’s outside your body probably!
LMAO i screamed when Erin said Caitlyn Jenner ran over a person 😆😆😆 im crying. what actually happened was she was TEXTING AND DRIVING and slammed into the car in front of her. that car went into the opposite lane and crashed head on to another car. a person in that car in the opposite lane died because Caitlyn was texting.

I grew up in the church and am still active and we have some people who are excommunicated from the church but they’re still in attendance because they still want to be a part of it so hearing that man had no one when he was excommunicated makes me sad especially when he was obviously going through something. I have discussions with people all the time about the church because all of my friends happen to be non-members
Was raised Mormon and I love talking about my experience. I can explain some of the basic beliefs as well as my experience as a member of the church as well. Mostly good experience but I’m no longer an “active member”.
