Another Coco-loco survivor here! I got extremely sick my 2nd day on the property as well after having a coconut Coco Loco drink! Violent cramps, vomiting and diarrhea experienced the week of 8/19/24. So they have NOT remedied the issue. It also didn’t help while I was clutching my stomach waiting for medicine to kick in that I found out during a phone search that there was a death via illness on this property in 2019 with the cause still not being found. Overall nice property, not worth getting sick.
What a shame to get so sick. We've been to Excellence Riviera Cancun twice and loved it. We are coming here in November. Looks gorgeous and hopefully all goes well.
Sorry to hear you were sick but weird about the possible connection to the CocoLoco. This past spring the same thing happened ro my wife in Jamaica although symptoms were not as strong but still didn't feel well. Also, fifth trip to Jamaica and nothing had happened there before. Now, I was about to book at Excellence PC for November but now I may have to pivot. 😢
Great video! I almost didn't watch, but glad I did, as we aren't going to DR but Excellence Oyster Bay for the first time in May. Do you have an opinion on how Excellence compares with Sandals overall? We have only stayed at Sandals South Coast (4 times) and Grande St Lucian; this will be our first time with Excellence and I'm starting to feel a bit nervous about "breaking up" with Sandals lol; thank you!!
Hey! Thank you. Sorry I know the audio was a little rough. I’m working on getting better! So that’s a great question and I honestly think it depends on what is most important to you. We have done Sandals Barbados twice, Montego Bay and Beaches Turks and Caicos and have wildly different experiences. In general I’d say the drinks at Sandals are better and there is a much larger variety. Food really just depends on the resort but id say Sandals has a slight edge here too. Service at Excellence was much MUCH better than Sandals Barbados and Turks and Caicos and about equal with what we got at Montego Bay. Personally though, if I were choosing I would choose Sandals Montego Bay over trying Excellence just because of this experience at Excellence. We had an absolute blast at Montego Bay. It’s definitely a more social resort, however it pools are important to you Montego Bay is much more of a beach resort although they do have a very fun swim up bar.
@@PandaBearAdventures Wow thanks again for all the good information! We would love to do Barbados, sounds like we should definitely consider it next. The main reason we booked Excellence is because its closer than Sandals South Coast, or the other properties in Ocho Rios; I'm going to keep checking Sandals Montego Bay and RC (no club level availability the dates we booked); plane tickets are booked for Jamaica, just not sure which property to go with now 😅 thanks again for the feedback!
I’ve gone to Excellence PC each of the past 4 years. I never had a problem until last year when I got a stomach bug while there. It’s an amazing place and it could very well be the dairy however whenever you get a large amount of people together in dining establishments bugs are easily passed around. We are going back this summer and I’ll be certain to take precautions.
Definetly a resort problem, my family has stayed at multiple Punta Cana Resorts and different resorts in other parts of the DR and we have never gotten sick. Sorry to hear you guys had a bad experience that makes you scared to go back, the Dominican Republic is one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
@@PandaBearAdventures if you guys ever decide to go back, the Hyatt Zilara Punta Cana resort is amazing although a bit expensive. Also better spots that are lesser known to tourists are Samana and Puerto Plata, you can still find great all inclusives but they are more botique and they arent pressed to produce a bunch of food for a large resort, so the food quality is much better.
@@andrewriggs689 it could have been brushing your teeth? In the DR tips videos, I’ve seen the recommendation to use bottled water. These pop-up illnesses seem to happen at all of the resorts there. 😢
We have never had to do that at any other resort. It’s possible but unlikely that was it. Our primary suspicion is the Coco loco drink at the pool bar as I did not have that and she did. It also seemed to be common denominator amongst all the other people we met that got sick.
My husband and I went for our honeymoon in May!! The same thing happen to us we got terribly sick for 2 days. We couldn’t figure it out. We travel ans we’ve never got that sick. We didn’t drink the water.. and we only had food and drinks on the resort.
