I can see her wanting to be a part of the culture and community. This was not the stage for her coming out party worldwide. Everyone was waiting to see Breaking was going to do. Then regular , biased , and hating people that already did not want Breaking included had there moment in the sun. I have been trying tell regular folks on so many channels thats not real Breaking. Most of them watched that battle and came to the conclusion that this was the same cheesy Break dancing form the 80's commercials. It was a waste of time and rounds for the real competition. Also that girl with the political message on the cape battling India f up too. India shouldn't have had to battle her or waste rounds. I am glad at least the men's battles went smoothly compared to day one. Breaking in the Olympics also has brought out people who don't even know a baby freeze from a air chair saying the moves aren't part of the dance. If we get another clown showing like that Breaking aint getting back to that stage. W Breaking will always have Cyphers so we will be fine and that woman would have been ran out of there... you wack!!! same as we called it back in the day!

I was told there were no black dancers and all the dancers should have been black automatically. That's racist and a lie. There was 4 men with black decent There. Then the black b girls didn't qualify. Then black folks said they stole all of Breaking. It has changed a ton since they last seen it.. talking about what we should or should not call our art is pretty dumb. its true, breakdance; breaking had a moment to shine in front of the world and they put someone there who was no up to standard. She might be a great dancer, person and teacher but not for competing in the olympics.

People commenting being sarcastic. Instead of commenting on Jeffro's amazing dancing, or Lee's unbelievable original power. Even Phil's gold winning personality. Shigekix's speed and power... There are so many vocal people out there looking to connect with other people, and they way they feel safest is through sarcasm and trolling. Only thing to do is ignore those immature people like you'd ignore a child acting out. It's just hard when they are full grown with a platform.
People don't like living in reality anymore. They like living in an idealized world of their imagination. In the real world, a terrible performance on the world stage for the 1st ever Breaking Event at the Olympics, when people are expecting excellence and see Raygun instead, will be met with intense criticism and derision. I mean, it is kind of astounding how viral it's gone but I guess that just how much people dislike an unexcellent performance at what is supposed to be the height of excellence. And it's sparked quite the conversation. Including members of the breaking community basically trying to gaslight and silence people who are critical of the performance and asking questions about how she got there in the first place. I've never been one to shy away from controversy and I don't mind being "the bad guy" if it means we are closer to the truth. But yes, ignore away lol
Breaking wanted to become a mainstream sport without realizing how many sacrifices the culture would have to make for that. But then God stepped in and said: “Breaking shall not lose its integrity by becoming a capitalist and diabolical mess: My soldier B-Girl Raygunn will do everything she can do stop this from happening”. And the rest is history.

The integrity that I speak of is related to breaking's roots as a raw art form and traditional street dance-and whether breaking is capable of withstanding the poisons of capitalism in a graceful manner (it isn't). Breaking having its name tarnished on a mainstream media level will potentially slow down this culture's rapid advancement towards capitalism. Capitalism takes the swag out of breaking, and the mainstream's perception of it should not improve at all because of this. The money involved is only great for the individuals that have a talent for exploitation, but the rest of the culture suffers from it. Raygun (whether you like her or not) tarnished the general public's perception of breaking. It's a good thing.
I agree that she shouldn't be on world stage, but if that's anyone's fault, it's IOC's fault for holding such irresponsible qualifiers. And in this modern age, where everyone is mellow and you can lose your online career over saying one wrong word or share a different opinion, people are way too comfortable with insulting Raygun herself
People just need to realize that telling people not to make fun of Raygun is gonna make people make fun of her more. The best strategy if you want people to stop is to just ignore it until it goes away in a week. Also, I think people realize there is something deeper going on here. There is some form of corruption happening that allowed this performance to happen. I'm sure a lot of Australian people want to get to the bottom of it so they won't be embarrassed like that on the world stage again.
The Raygun memes and hate is getting old. She's a part of our community and like it or not we gotta stand up for her. She's a part of our culture. As for how she got her spot weren't a majority of the breaking qualifiers last minute and a lot of people couldn't make it due to scheduling/they couldn't afford the flights there and out of the people who could, she was one of them and won.

I'm not going into the woke/antiwoke stuff. Not interested. BUT, if anyone is to blame for the backslash she is receiving these are the people who allowed her to qualify. Every Olympic sport has a minimum requirement to qualify, be points or time or world ranking. Every single one. It doesn't matter if there isn't anyone better, if the requirements aren't met no one is sent to the Olympics. So the people who sent her are the ones to blame if her mental health suffers. Not her, nor the people criticizing her..
if people didn't want her to have a spot then someone in oceania should've beaten her regardless of the level of competition the olympics as an event strives to have all the world regions represented across sports otherwise most events would be dominated either by the u.s. or by the 1-2 countries that specialize in whatever sport it is. it's just bad in this case because a lot of the general audience already came in with preconceived biases against breaking but you see people who fail the hurdles, drop out of the marathon, lose to the usa by 70 in basketball, aren't competitive in gymnastics, etc. every olympics and they don't become major stories. it's not a breaking thing, it's a social media thing first and IOC thing second. same reason this video is about raygun and not about dany vs kuzya or 671 vs india. people seize onto controversy and algorithms reward it

kinda sad, also if the olympics gave more points towards powermoves aka the athletic part it wouldve gotten so much more praise. Zenny I have an opinion, I think in this kind of competitions you should earn more points for doing powermove (element that requires more strength and dexterity). Or at the other extreme be a powermove competition. This would eliminate many participants and generate less controversy, as in this case, Raygun that in a breaking event with all the elements, his performance would not be questioned, but in Olympics his performance has generated controversy and the same could happen with other bboys like Allef who dominates the musicality but does not have a lot of powermoves.
They def need to add a difficulty or dynamics category to that system cuz it was all kinds of biased against powermove oriented bboys like Friend of The Channel Hiro10
