I've often wondered how many people with "overland trailers" actually take them down the trails or just base camp and go have fun in the surrounding area. I have a carry-on trailer I got a rack for and have a big RTT on top of. It wouldn't make it down some trails, even if it could it's a lot of money on wheels + possible boat anchor stuck in the mud. I think if I ever get my family ready to do any of these BDRs or anything I'd have to move the tent to the truck rack. I've done that and it felt right and it didn't really fit with my awning. Looks like a great time though! We were supposed to make a loop down to WV this spring but it didn't work out.
Trailers serve a good purpose if you're base camping for sure. If you're on the move daily it is easier to just load up and go and leave the trailer at home. That said, we've had a lot of trailers on our trips and everyone seems to have a blast!
