Our trip to Xiamen really didn't go to plan, after a week of being unwell, we finally made It out and about to explore.

Visit hospital to see a doctor asap, don't have any worry on the amount of bill or insurance policy . Just go! The bill will be really really really inexpensive even you don't have Chinese health care insurance.

I think it is polite in China to wear a mask when you have a cold. Even if you don’t believe they work they at least warn vulnerable people to keep clear of you.

Okay, in China, if you don't have medical insurance and see a doctor, it's much cheaper than you have medical insurance and see a doctor in the UK. So, why don't you see a doctor? It is almost free.

no, charges are exactly the same. extra fees on foreigners are unheard of. I mean you can go straight into a dental clilic while you are in China without an appointment and have your teeth fixed with the price of possibly less than a meal in the States.@@janlxy2705

Take care, and if you ever feel unwell in China, don't be afraid to visit a public hospital. The public hospitals in China have the best doctors and best medical equipment, you can get treatment in the same day and the price is also very reasonable.

Because you travel under a hectic schedule, think about taking Vitamin C supplements daily for you & the children. In addition Vitamin A for 10 days of the month is very good as a anti-viral precaution. Plus - go to a Chinese pharmacy & ask what is a good Chinese formula (in tiny pills) for as soon as a person has a cold. Nip it in the bud quickly and you recover quickly - it's always good to have on hands for your future trips. Enjoy the rest of your trip

i have been in Xiamen 15 years ago. its really a nice city. and Gulangyu is also quite beautiful, next time, you can stay one night in Gulangyu island. its quite unique experience!

Xiamen is my favorite city in China and i have been to most of the major cities in east coast. This city is extremely clean and well maintained. So many trees and flowers, lots of tourism sites and food is fantastic, only complain is there are too many tourists and get too crowded sometimes.

If you still experience the bad cold, you should drop by local pharmacy to buy some over the counter cold medicine. You can tell it is a pharmacy by looking at that big green cross sign, or if you can see the following Chinese characters, “药房” or “药店”。

Sick and recovered, thats good, it mean you guys are patched and good to roll. I had the same when I visited China early this year. Just watch out for the kids coughing and fever. Enjoy your trip in China.

This moment at 9:42 - It is only the beginning, and their journey is far from over. I saw China outside of tourist places, I gained respect for the people and the Chinese authorities. Being at the casino, I would bet that the authorities will show up during this trip, China knows how to receive, Chinese hospitality is a very serious thing.

guys go to a government-run hospital (usually with the city's name or something similar). you'd be shocked at how cheap it is. you won't face a disturbing bill after. I'd say for treating cold and its symptoms, it's less than a meal...

I am so sorry to hear that the adults got sick while you were in Xiamen. But Xiamen is always there and hopefully soon you will get to visit the place again. Hangzhou is a great place, I spent my middle and high school there. West lake is a must visit and has a lot of places around it. You can let the girls dress up traditional Chinese clothes there similar to some locals that you will see. Hangzhou also has headquarters of high tech companies like Alibaba. Enjoy your trip!

Hi,If you have a cold, you can go to see a doctor. Chinese hospitals are different from the UK, you can walk in and the charges are very cheap. Hava fun in China.

Go see a chinese doctor they are good - i had a cold last October and went to a Hospital in Guangzhou inexpensive took the medicine 1 days after was feeling great do not hesitate China is safe

There is an interesting thing about Hangzhou which is known as the food desert, and the top three on the Hangzhou food list are KFC、McDonald's and Burger King. Hahaha, of course, this is just a joke, not true. I hope you can find delicious food in Hangzhou (such as 西湖醋鱼🐶）
