Shadow Dancing was written by Barry, Robin, Maurice & Andy, but only Barry did the backing & harmony vocals. Barry also co-produced & co-arranged it (along with Albhy Gaulten).
Andy died just a few days after his 30th birthday of a myocarditis, an enlarged heart, due to his previous use of cocaine. It was sad because he was so popular and talented.
Myocarditis is a virus but the cocaine had weakened his heart making him more susceptible to getting the virus. Sadly he was clean and kicked the cocaine when he got sick and died in 3 days. On the way to the hospital in the ambulance he asked his mother "Can I die from this?"
I am 59 years old. Andy Gibb, Shaun Cassidy and Rick Springfield were my heart throbs, poster on the wall. So nice to see the younger folks listening to the music of my time.......God I miss the late 70's and 80's
For me it was Donny Osmond, then Shaun Cassidy, then Andy Gibb, then Rick Springfield. I also miss that whole era, especially the music of the 70’s. The music of today sucks for the most part.
Ooooh, chile - us 70s girls loved us some Andy Gibb! So next, do ‘You Should Be Dancin’ by The Bee Gees and you’ll see all 4 of them performing together. It’s awesome! Plus, that song is 🔥.
I come back to this…Amber’s reaction is too perfect, pure, priceless. Yes, Andy was beyond dreamy. At 51, I’m appreciating Barry…I had no clue, totally makes me bite my lip. These gentleman are part of my young childhood only happy memories.
He was 12 years younger than Barry. They were very close. It nearly killed Barry when he died. A beautiful man and so talented. He helped me get over my heartache over Donny Osmond getting married in 1978
I loved when Andy would appear on The Donny & Marie Show. I wish he and Marie would have worked out. They were adorable and life may have turned out so different for him.
He was so gorgeous and he looked so much like his brother Barry. He had so much talent and swagger. He only 30 when he died. The other brothers in the BeeGees were fraternal twins. Love your channel. So glad to see the younger generations finding the diverse music styles.
I'm a little older so I loved Barry then came David Cassidy. God I was 12 then. David's life was never the same after his fame waned. Never reached that pinnacle of fame again.i cried when he died. 🙏✌🌻🌻
" How can i hold you when you ain't even mine"....brings back the days of the Roller Skating Rinks. We danced on skates to great music. Andy was on the covers of many magazines.
Making out in the dark corners of the skate rink. Good memories. Wait, I don't think anyone ever knew for sure that I did that. Finally telling on myself. :)
Andy Gibb was Amazing!!! He died in 1988 He was only 30 years old and I was in High School when it happened I cried and I still do today. 😥😢😢 Always loved his music 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Yeah Amber you go girl, you have great taste!! I was a HUGE fan of the Bee Gees & Andy Gibb. I also had a crust on Barry GIbb (swoon) and my older sister loved Andy Gibb but hey I had posters of Bee Gees and Andy on my wall, he was so adorable & everyone was so heartbroken over the news of Andy's passing. Barry Gibb is the only brother who is alive, I can't imagine how hard this was on Barry.
The background vocals were Andy and Barry harmonizing. All 4 brothers wrote the song together. I have original album, I bought it when I was 12 yes old in 1978. I had such a huge crush on Andy but I also really loved his music, I still do. I'm loving watching you guys react and hearing the great music that my friends and I were so lucky to grow up listening to. New sub!💜
Barry said that he and Andy look alike. Same birthmarks. I saw a video of Barry in his early 20’s. He looked like Andy. Barry worked with Andy and produced his first album, Flowing Rivers, which had two number ones, “I just want to be your everything” and “Love is Thicker than Water.”
This was the #1 song of 1978 in the USA!!! He had several huge hits. He was right up there with his brothers in the late 70's. My favorite song of his is "I Just Want To Be Your Everything," which was another of his huge #1 hits. :)
He had some good songs and performed with his brothers. He was not right up with brothers though. Bee Gees backed him up on songs and without them probably would have been a blip. Sad he died so young.
@@Scott_P869 On the charts, he was always battling with them. In fact, one week the top 5 had 4 songs that were written by the Bee Gees: 1. Night Fever.... 2. Stayin' Alive....... 3. Emotion (Samantha Sang with the Bee Gees in the chorus)........ 4. Lay Down Sally (Eric Clapton)....... 5. (Love Is) Thicker Than Water (Andy Gibb). The two Bee Gees songs & the Andy Gibb Song were all #1 hits. The Andy Gibb song went to #1 for 2 weeks, right in Between the two Bee Gees songs. :)
Andy Gibb was my first crush!!!!! He’s Barry’s little twin , 12 years younger. His brothers, especially Barry, wrote and produced his songs. He was a huge thing among teenage girls and had 3 straight number one hits. The plan was for him to join The Bee Gees when he got older. The backing vocals are The Bee Gees.
The plan with Andy Gibb was that he was suppose to have a Solo Carrer for awhile and sing Part time with the Bee Gees. The Bee Gees wrote and performed backing Vocals for Andy. Andy appeared with the Bee Gees on the song You Should Be Dancing. Please react to the Live Version of You Should be Dancing to see all 4 Gibb Brothers together. Andy was announced as joining the Bee Gees full time but passed away before that could happen. Andy Gibb was 30 Years old when he passed away.
Yes….think we were all in love!! If Miss Victoria Principal would’ve only realized how much she broke his heart…..he might still be singing away today🎤!
Shadow Dancing was written by Barry, Robin, Maurice & Andy, but only Barry did the backing & harmony vocals. Barry also co-produced & co-arranged it (along with Albhy Gaulten).
Walking to lunch recently and someone had this cranking in their car and I was in glory! Couldn't stop humming the song for days! Amazing and classic toe-tapper!
Amber, the look on your face in the first minute of this song is priceless! Do I detect a new crush? Also you guys should react to the Bee Gees song "You Should Be Dancing". There is a video of all four brothers performing it together!
That's why she turned to Jordan and said "don't get mad, but..." and then chose her words very carefully to avoid drawing attention to her physical response. Jordan was too thunderstruck to find there was a fourth Gibb brother who not only sounded like Barry, but was his spitting image of the eldest male Gibb sibling.
Ms Amber, your reaction to how gorgeous Andy Gibbons was is priceless! I don’t blame you on this one because I had the same reaction when I first saw him too. His voice was as stunningly handsome as his looks. One Andy Gibb song that I’m surprised that nobody has recommended so far that I’d recommend is “Desire!” I guarantee that you will love this one too.
Guys as if the Bee Gees wasn't driving us crazy already, Andy showed up with his beautiful melodies and fine self. The boys sang as his backup. We was devastated when Andy died. Thank you for the memories.👍🏾👵🏿🙏🏾❤🎶
I've been trying for months to get J to listen to Robin sing. No disrespect to Barry, who does have an incredible voice, but there would be no Bee Gees without Barry and Robin's voices mixed together. They just need to get to the songs from the 60's, they're so much better than the songs from the 70's.
This is such a delightful reaction all-round! 😂🤗😘 Amber's _"Be Still My Beating Heart"_ moment - looking like a lady from *Bridgerton* as she hastily fans herself while having an attack of the vapours... 🥰 Meanwhile, Jay is apparently oblivious, just grooving away to the vibe... 😂
I watched an interview with Barry who said his brother Andy was incredibly shy and reserved, until he hit the stage, and then he shined. I remember Andy being on the tv show Solid Gold in the early 80's, as a performer and co-host. Barry was right, that was his time to shine with confidence and swagger.
Shadow Dancing was written by all 4 brothers, but it's just Barry doing the backing & harmony vocals. Barry also co-produced & co-arranged it (along with Albhy Gaulten).
Major crush here too! He and Barry actually lol! They really did remind me of each other, the look and swag for sure! Loved both(crush-wise)and of course loved Bee Gees as a whole, first and then Andy came along and man, I was smitten🥰 But, truly, great talent, all 4! Rip to Andy, Maurice and Robin 💔
Andy was a complete heartthrob, his looks, his voice, and knowing he was the baby brother of our idols it was as if all of us fans adopted him as a teen idol, he was terrific. You should try 'An everlasting love' next, the studio version please.
This and “I just want to be your everything” were on the radio so much we actually got sick of them! After a 40-some year break it sounds pretty good again!!
Amber, I loved watching your reaction!! You were fangirling bigtime! Giggling, blushing, big smile! This is why Andy was so popular, everyone fell in love with him! Listen to him on "I Just Want To Be Your Everything!"
Every teenage girl had posters of Andy Gibb lining their walls!!! We'd buy those teen magazines and they'd have posters of our heartthrobs inside each issue!!! Teen Beat and 17, were the names, if memory serves correctly. Good ole days for sure.
LOL!! I love ya'll's reaction!!! I got in trouble in my Christian High School when I brought my Teen Beat magazine with Andy Gibb's centerfold to show my girlfriends..Andy was sooooo gorgeous!! and of course talented:)
Andy was really good in his time. Big brother Barry did a lot of the background singing. They really wanted him to join the BeeGees but sadly he died at 30.
I’ve been following you guys for a while now, how have I not seen this video yet?! 😂 Jay’s face is pure delight that Andy is as talented as his brothers and Amber is FULL ON crushing on him (girl, SAME!). Andy was every girl’s dream back in the day - no joke! 🔥 Such a shame that we lost Andy, Maurice and Robin! 💔
You mentioned that he looked like Barry, they often said that like Maurice and Robin were twins, Andy was Barry's "twin" just born 12 years later (or so).
It was so much fun to watch you guys react to Andy. I had the same reaction in 1978. I just adored him. It says a lot that the song and singer can still create that feeling 44 years later.
Yes Amber gets it! Andy was too fine and had all the girls nearly fainting! He was my crush out of the Bee Gee's, the brothers were were too old for me! This was very late 70's I was only 9 or 10! It was totally a heartbreak when he died!
Shadow Dancing was written by Barry, Robin, Maurice & Andy, but only Barry did the backing & harmony vocals. Barry also co-produced & co-arranged it (along with Albhy Gaulten).
"I've been here all your life watching your crying game. You were the heaven in my lonely world while he was your son and your rain" 'Everlasting Love' Hell yeah!
Andy Gibb was a true heartthrob- he had the talent, the confidence, and the looks. He did a couple of beautiful duets with Olivia Newton-John (another Aussie with a gorgeous voice and looks to match). Please check them out when you get a chance. Love to both of you and your beautiful children☮ ❤❤
@@teviottilehurst My mistake. I apologize. I was thinking about it later and remembered that Olivia was also born in England and moved to Australia. I didn't know that Andy was also. Honestly believed he was born in Australia.
the little brother gibb was cool. had the world at his feet. such a tragedy. no tellin what heights he could've got to. R.I.P., Brother. nice one, guys. lovin ya. peace. see ya on the next.
I've seen this reaction 3 times already and it cracks me up every time that Barry's "biggest fan" didn't recognize the background voices!!!! I'm still laughing as I'm typing. LOL!!!! And Amber, your reaction to Jordan's clueless comment is classic!!!
Andy Gibb was my favorite of the Brother's Gibb everyone forgot him but i never ever will. He was a solo artist no one can take anything from him he was very talented in his own right. Had a huge crush on Andy hell i still do. Poor Barry was not on good terms with Andy when he passed away he said that is a burden i must carry for the rest of my life and i agree with him. Awesome reaction. Myocarditis is the cause of death drugs had a part in his death but not all of it. lots of singers were into drugs then and now. Sad that we lost Andy so young.
RIP Andy He was the first of the Gibbs to pass away at only 30 :-(. Andy was the youngest, but he was the first to pass away (from drugs). He was on stage with his brothers in the video to You Should Be Dancing. Love seeing all 4 of them together! That's Barry singing background!
Watch an evening with the bee gees on British ITV tv and Barry Gibb reveals that he died from a heart defect that was missed during a routine medical visit to his doctor
His actual cause of death was a condition called myocarditis which he had been born with but was initially considered non life threatening. But his drug addiction did cause this change by weakening his already damaged heart more than it could handlec
"Shadow Dancing", "Love Is Thicker Then Water" and "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" are Andy's first 3 releases that all hit #1. You must react to all 3. 1 down 2 to go. :-)
Please go back and do some more Andy Gibb he has so many songs that are so so good. Like After Dark, Wherever you are, Desire, Time is Time.. I am pretty sure you would really enjoy them all.. And you haven't reacted to him in 2 years.. ❤❤
