I'm so glad you played my demo, thanks! A while ago I watched your analysis of why Source games are creepy and loved it, I still send it to friends when we talk about Source
Farming horror is such a great idea and I'm surprised I haven't seen more games who utilise this concept. You have the remote setting, you are there all by yourself, you have the creepy old barn and basement, you have a lot of tools that you can use to defend yourself and that can be used to kill you and the chance of someone actually helping you is practically zero. I don't have the guts to live all by myself in the middle of nowhere knowing stuff like this.
If it makes you feel any better, my (half) brother's farm is in the middle of nowhere, and has been in his family for 4 generations. It's really peaceful. Crime in the area is super low, what crime does exist happens in town and not out in the boonies. The "worst" thing he had to deal with was local kids occasionally drinking and fishing on his land and not cleaning up after themselves, but he eventually caught them and gave them an ass chewing. Now he lets them fish as long as they pick up their trash when they leave and he hasn't had a problem since.
technically land of the dead game had a pretty creepy starting level in a farm. Yeah, by today standards it's not as creepy, but as a kid that level terrified me so much.
I love the fact that in the beginning when the bathroom door opened I said. “Hmm must’ve been the wind.” Then Librarian immediately said that and I laughed so hard!
This looks like it'll be incredible when fully released. The painting mechanic is a genius bit of design; the player has enough information to be scared and dreading an encounter, but not so much information that tension is deflated. It didn't really seem like there were any active threats around outside of the end sequence, but if the full release mixes normal enemies, scripted encounters, scripted jumpscares, and a mix of micro-scares (i.e. audio, doors closing), this could be a consistently scary but engaging title.
Honestly, Librarian isn't for everyone, with the way he plays, especially with long form content, but for the people who DO like it, i'm sure we all REALLY like it.
I absolutely love his playstyle! It's so close to how I play games on my own, I can easily envision myself making a lot of the same choices. There's not enough youtubers who take a slower pace and really soak up all the content (and listening to him get scared of everything is funny, too)
The melancholic vibe this game transmitted was inmaculate. I resonate with garett in many ways, not due to trauma or whatever the reason he chose that life, but due to being a huge introvert. That and being a sucker for the creepy and comfy makes this game a gem. I'll wait forever for the complete version, just praying that it does come eventually.
He's obviously in a not so great state of mind if he willingly threw the key out of the place without considering any dangers that could occur. Things like wild animals, strange people who might not have his best interests in mind, or suddenly have an emergency and have his whole dream life ruined just because he didn't like people (ie flooding, fire, mold that grows out of control, termite infestation).
Holy fuck, that ending jumpscare was the first scare in literal YEARS that actually got me. wow. I'm so looking forward to the full game, it might be one of the best ones lately released. I want to explore the full potential it has and it has a lot of it.
I'm not gonna lie... That intro was so cozy, relaxing, and oddly freeing, I had to watch it twice. I already know I'm going to love this game, that was BEAUTIFUL.
Wasn’t expecting a “Courage the cowardly dog” show reference but yeah…..Eustace Bags farm wasnt just dangerous, it was the most dangerous place on earth.

Not gonna lie, the big head ending (Cry of Fear, Silent Hill 4, Squirrel Stapler) actually got me. When i was a little kid, i was scared to go out of the bounds, or when something was TOO OF like bugs and stuff... so i am scared shitless of stuff like that
8:35 for some reason the fact that only the music was muted but the game voice as well as your voice wasn’t was so satisfying after having to skip through so many muted portions of videos lol
Farming, Horror, AND escapism! What else do I need I haven't been able to watch your videos these last couple months (ok maybe a year+).. but I forced myself to watch 40 mins of this vid, gotta finish it tomorrow. Looks like one of my favorites already
Man, i love the way this game is looking, when the full release comes out, i would love to see a full series of this game. anything to see more of Vizzie! (kitty visitor)
definitely looking forward to when it fully comes out so you can play it some more on the channel. It has such a great vibe, and hits basically a perfect mix of horror and some sort of beautiful feeling i dont even know the words for
I've watched dozens of videos of this game (I'm obsessed) but yours was one of my favorite playthroughs. I like that you understood the atmosphere and kept your attitude adjusted to it appropriately.
Gorgeous demo, can't wait for the game. Librarian, I really appreciated how you let the moment land at the 58-59 minute mark. You collected your tomatoes and eggs and chopped up the stumps, no commentary, and the loneliness of the moment was felt. Fantastic game design but also great intuition from a player to just let the emotion go without commentary.
1:05:57 wasnt expecting this kind of jarring jumpscare in such a heavy-sentimental-driven story kind of game. It remind me of the Squirel Stapler's God apparition at the end.
This game is visually stunning, amd I loved the scares! Might give it a try myself. Also did anyone else notice the scar on Garrett's left arm, or was that just me? 😥
You'd think Garret would have invited the people he could stand. A man can make it alone in the wilds, but it's harder and more dangerous. Someone needs to make a first-person homestead simulator.
I always remember this one time I was staying in Boston, along Mass Ave. I looked out the window of the apartment and saw a gosh-darn TURKEY walking down the street. Followed it down an alley, but the fella was on a mission of his own. No idea how he got there or what we was doing, but I think about it a lot.
I like that the tomato assets are looking like tomatoes that has cracks from irregular watering ( the green cracks on top) those tend to get moldy faster in the cracks . You cut does parts a Off when using them even if not moldy, does parts dosent taste so good . The chicken coup is very closely done from those you can buy irl i would guess that one is for 8 chicken or something. You collect the eggs like you do in the game, The chicken fencing is a bit low doe ,they would fly/ jump right over .
I really like the atmosphere of this game, it's really well done. Also I have another game suggestion for you! No one wants to die. A sci-fi detective game with lots of Greek mythology references and a choices matter mechanic too.
Okay, I just have to say, this has been the first game with scares to have gotten me in a while. Especially with how the scares started as early as they did. The, “Hey,” from behind was fine but actually seeing someone peering from behind the tree right after activated my fight or flight. This dev did an amazing job and I can’t wait for the full release.
I watched a lets play of this game by someone else yesterday and tought it would fit amazingly well for your channel. It fits the creepy & comfy vibe perfectly! :)
I don’t know what happened to Garret, but the fact that he decided to live the rest of his life, even him being young, completely alone, and that his mother died and he ran from something suggests that he is probably not sane at all to begin with.
So this is the results of David's feelings written on the form of Christopher's story, interesting... Smells like deep lore and intense gameplay, I do hope David is ok tho, thats a strange note..
vaguely reminds us of that famring creepypasta where the guy just handles the monsters. got a skinwalker, here's a shot gun love the vibes here so much
how can such a good looking indie game have copyrighted music? this isn't a garry's mod with Mario stuff. isn't this something they'd be checking before release? Just a thought. Then again we're not the best with our inspection of music either, but our stuff is kinda crappy and free XD
good work i like your video 😄 even if the muted didn"t need it at all cause in the setings the is the option to check the box for streamers and changes the copyright music 😉
