Correction: Star Wars was not released as episode 4. They didn’t start numbering the episodes until Empire Strikes Back which was only called episode 5 in the title crawl. However, Lucas always intended to make Star Wars into this huge story and A New Hope was always supposed to be episode 4, it was just not released as such for obvious reasons.

This episode should have "The source is that I made it the fuck up" award moment.

Ancient Egypt with the Nile, Mesopotamia (which means land between waters) located between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the Indus Valley civilization had the Indus River and the Yellow River civilization had the Yellow River. It is important to note that humans lived outside these areas too and had been doing so long before the rise these civilizations. These four ancient civilizations were able to exploit these rivers to produce more food and that enabled them to grow to a complexity never seen before. Garnt has a point. If civilization building is a game, then beginning your civilization around a major river with fertile flooding lands was the M.E.T.A to grow food faster and thus growing the population faster and so on.

Shorts or TikTok’s are good for a quick laugh here and there, but honestly i much prefer long form content so I can do other things while listening to or watching my favorite creators. Not only that but you get so much more substance in long form. There’s a space for both, but I feel like people that are only capable of watching tiktoks have the attention span of a nat. TierZoo is an entire channel whose premise is "survival tactics/evolution = game meta". It's close enough to be accurate, but more importantly, it's close enough to be funny and entertaining.

I think is kinda funny that they talk about how unappreciated animation is in Hollywood and at the same time they now nothing about western animation besides Disney/Pixar and some popular stuff like Arcane, I'm not calling them hypocrites, but I always feel with anime fans that they know that animation is good but actively ignore not anime, like yeah they know about cartoon from the States, but you never will ear them talk about french animation or Spanish animation and I think that's kind of sad

I was star struck when I met Samuel L. Jackson at a restaurant. I swear I couldn’t tell it was him because 1. He was dressed casually and 2. I couldn’t believe a celebrity was eating one table away from me 😂 But I was too afraid to ask for a photo and interrupt his dinner 😭 Now it’s just a memorable moment for me 💜 I also met Christina Ricci at a con because I loved her as a kid (Casper, Adams Family, etc.). That’s why I love cons, because you can meet people we love and admire, but I do wish we could have a minute to talk to them. Unfortunately, the lines are so long that I rarely get more than 15 seconds 😅

The discussion about late night shows and broadcasts of random European movies reminded me of a channel I came across while studying in Japan that was available OTA that would play random international movies with Japanese subtitles most nights. Watched many movies I've never seen before that way, and got to pick up words and translations they used for movies I have seen and did know.

It would be a fun after dark stream watching the boys play their favorite old games and reliving their childhood

So glad I went to go see the bois live. Im pretty introverted but seeing those guys stand up on stage for 2 hours entertaining the crowd to even straight up dancing like a clown was honestly inspiring. I looked it up, but Star Wars Episode IV wasn’t released as Episode IV on release. It was just known as “Star Wars” when released in 1977 and the title sequence was changed in 1981 to the new title.

Adam Savage is such a nice and fun guy! Mythbusters was one of my all time favorite TV shows of all time and I feel fortunate enough to have met both of them. I totally felt what Joey felt with Adam, lol.

"Meta" in gaming actually originally came from the term "metagame". Literally it means "the game about the game", so it's kinda like "the game about figuring out the game", which then means min-maxing and using the most optimal tactics. But because people are lazy now they've just shortened it to "meta". I agree with Connor that surely "Most effective tactic available" was something that was slapped onto it later.

A small timeline is: 1977: [A new hope] releases and rereleases multiple times. 1980: [Episode V: The empire strikes back] releases in cinemas (with episode V in the title, from here on the episodes will be numbered in the titles of the films.) 1981: The rerelease of [Episode IV: A new hope] goes on cinemas again.

Binge watching is amazing for shows with a continous story. It exponentially makes the watching experience better. If you already know about the show it doesnt matter if it isnt talked about. So it sucks for popularity but its great for the experience itself.

I don't use tiktok but I occasionally watch youtube shorts. It's so much harder in that form to form a connection with the person making the videos. Even if the creator has no clue who I am, I still can connect more to the longer form content and it just overall feels more heartfelt.

Re: the META conversation, the Acronym is a "Backronym", as in it was made retrospectively to follow an existing word. Original useage refers to Metaphysical philosophy of self awareness, as in being aware of the nature of the game and explicitly exploiting the fundamental knowledge of the game mechanics to win (Shortened to 'Meta' for convenience)

Oh my gosh! That DVD menu / features discussion? 110% that was me and my siblings. The Shrek II, Far, Far Away Idle game, and that Ice Age multi language scene? I spent so much time on those as well! Those, as well as the early Harry Potter movies, and even Finding Nemo menus had so much content. However, if we'retalking DVD special features, The Lord of the Rings: Extended Edition DVDs are, to this day, my obsession.

SBS was how I first watched Ghibli movies. My grandfather decided to record them for me, even though I wasn't even an anime fan at that time. They were just "cartoons" and I got some actual classics. Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and Porco Rosso were among them.

12:25 Wow, they really made Chewbacca into Minions. This aged amazingly. But I can't complain that much since Disney-Amazon also made the 5D Picture Book of the backstory of Droopy McCool's uncle-in-law. And everyone knows how much people were calmouring for that.

TV and celebrity talk, this is one of my favorite episodes in a long time.

The greatest issue with part 6 is that if you watch it in chunks it needs to be 24 episodes. You need at least one of the big mid season twists to get hyped for the next part. episode 12 is as much a cliffhanger as ashe meeting team rocket every episode. The role of the episodes around the quarter mark of the season, is to set up various things and misdirect the viewer to build up the midpoint, where the actual clifhanger will be. You cannot hang from a cliff when you just dipped into the valley to gear up for the climb.

Money heist is actually spanish. It got insanely popular whith its first season here in spain under the name The House Of Paper(La Casa De Papel) with the series slightly decreasing in popularity as it went on. Still if you like heist movies with a good amount of drama it's really good

15 minutes in, this episode is gonna be all in on the bad takes you can already tell

oh man, i totally used to play disney extreme skate adventures too! I spent so much time playing that. Everytime I hear Pacific Coast Party, i remember playing that game and skating around and doing skate stunts. It was one of my favorite songs in the game soundtrack lol

Episode VI Return of the Jedi was in fact originally titled Revenge of the Jedi, but Lucas changed it before release to Return of the Jedi because he thought the revenge title was too dark for the protagonist's final victory. This is why Episode III was titled Revenge of the Sith.

I find the sleeping meta so interesting. Like, in ancient times when groups of people couldn’t even interact with each other, they all still figured out that they needed to sleep when they get tired.

The first time I saw Star Wars was when my dad took me and my sister when the original trilogy was re-released in the theatre in the 90s. Good memories.

For those who don't know, originally when Lucas was making the first three movies (IV, V, VI) he fully intended to make sequels after but his contract that he originally had didn't allow for more movies after the third was done. So when Lucas decided to make movies inside the star wars universe again he decided he wanted to go back and expand upon what happened to Anakin before he turned to the darkside. Now granted there is a rumor that he sold the rights to make sequels (before disney came around) at some point but I'm not too sure about that one so I'm just going off of what I know from the bts stuff I've watched and documentaries about the making of star wars.

It started as just Star Wars. I think the second cut labeled it part 4. Even back then Lucas was constantly re-editing his films.

That brought back so many memories. I had the game adaptation of the incredibles for the ps2, and an incredibles underminer game for the nintendo DS. They were both awesome. The DS one in particular, I replayed a lot because me and my brother took the DS in car trips and played co op in that game.

In 2 hours these three brain cells covered disney movies, games, star wars and ended up coming up with the anthropic principle from scratch.
